Mass Effect because I couldn't care less about the story line and just wanted to go shoot some aliens
Why did you even think of playing Mass Effect then?
You should play Gears of War, that game seems right up your alley.
Oh, and try to get a save file near the beginning of the game, not start a new game, there is some dialogue and an opening cutscene in Gears of War.
Lmao, this may sound weird, but I played Gears of War, and it just seemed like mindless violence, which, ok, was fun for a couple of hours, but for a full game it got a bit tedious, I'm kind of a strange mix and hard to please more often than not, I was also recommended Mass Effect by a friend, and when I say reccomended I meant I borrow it for a week or two.
I'm interested, what FPS's do you like? Cause you've kinda destroyed both ends of the spectrum there XD
Unless you have serious problems with spelling third I think you'll find that both Mass Effect and Gears of War disqualify themselves from being FPSes on the grounds of... you know, not being first person shooters.

Headshot: not mindless violence... not an RPG... Tried the Darkness? Might suit what you're looking for - although it is an FPS :p

OT: Splinter Cell: Double Agent because the tutorial stuff is crap if you've never played a SC game before. Homeworld. Oblivion and Biosh&*k (had to take a second run at both to get past the first few hours).

The whole Final Fantasy series after Emo-Boy QQ session 315 I pretty much shut down the game and never touch it again.

Oblivion - Boring, bland, extremely repetitive, broken mechanics, etc.

Doom 3, GTA 4. Both felt just so...boring and uninspiring. I know, I know, but I can't help but feel that 'Been there, done that, got the shirt' when I played GTA 4.

Oh, and let's add both Far Cry's to the mix, along with Halo 3...

Perhaps there's just something about FPSs that mostly rub me wrong. And GTA 4... well, the story and quests felt uninspiring.

Don't be so picky :D You know I was just talking about shooters in general.

I'm tired, leave me alone XD

What I'm about to say might get me lynched but I couldn't agree more. Stiff characters, boring dialogues and bland plot. It lacked, I dunno, spark. Finesse. The glitter on the edges. The little things make all the difference. All the stuff the writers would make if they didn't throw in a bisexual alien and go home instead. If ME was a movie it'd be 5 episodes of star trek. If it was a book it'd be doomed to end up in a recycling bin and miraculously transform into a roll of toilet paper.

Soft and scented but toilet paper nonetheless.

Liked the visuals, though. Shiny...

Yeah I agree with you there, plus it was boring to listen to (the story I mean)

Disgaea, FF Tactics, Fire Emblem, Advance Wars

I just don't like the turn-based, on-a-grid, strategy games.

I LOVE Valkyria Chronicles, though, so go figure.

Any MMORPG. So you work your ass to get a level and some better gear. You can now kick ass more effectively which is fun, but you will soon realize that you want to be powerful and in order to do that you have to work your ass even more. Also when you choose a class you'll need to stick to it or you will never get to play the endgame. In something like TF2 you can just play around with the classes as much as you want to, but in a MMO you won't get the true feel of the said class unless you play for a long time. And then you will realize that the said class doesn't suit your playstyle and you have to start over. It just takes way too much time to get anything done and this is how the monthly fees become a real pain.

Any Zelda, Metroid or Castlevania.
I couldn't get into the games 20 years ago, and I still can't now. I'll never say they are bad games, they just put me to sleep.

How does one not love Fire Emblem?

For me it would have to be Gears of War 2, I just couldn't get interested in it.
