Westboro Baptist Church at Rutgers University

So I am a student at Rutgers University in New Brunswick New Jersey, and next Wednesday (10/28/09) the infamous Westboro Baptist Church will be here at 8:45 AM (doing their usual shenanigans) in front of the Hillel building, which is a group at Rutgers that promotes diversity and all that good stuff. Now assuming that everyone on this site does not agree with the Westboro Baptist Church members' views (something tells me they don't use computers), how would you protest this? I keep hearing ideas of singing and dancing, a march, and gay couples making out in front of the Church group; what are your ideas for protest?

EDIT: They do have websites actually so I guess one of them knows how to use a computer.

When they leave, show up with soap and water and mops and brushes and "wash" away all thier filth and bullshit. It will make news for sure and not make the WBC look like martyrs if there is a fight.

You want to know the best way to protest, just as the above guy said DONT FUCKING DO ANYTHING all your doing is giving them media attention leave them alone let them prattle on about they're bullshit and encourage others to do the same. Theres a reason they do these pickets it works people react, write to your local newspaper and ask them to please not publish anything about it if you really want to help against them.

See, they only thrive when people start paying attention to their sad arses. We found the best way to get them to leave our military funerals alone is to just pretend they aren't there. We got the media to play along and now they never show up at Offutt Air Force Base anymore.

Or you could go in the opposite direction and get more inner satisfaction. Like doing what the fans at a football game did - wait until they are not paying attention, and then hit them with water balloons full of white paint.

Two things need to be done wherever this trash goes

1: Make sure theres a media blackout in the area. That they dont cover whats going on at all
2: Make sure everyone ignores the protest.

It certainly would be satisfying to do something either satirical or outright hostile, but trust me when I say you're better off just ignoring them. A school in my district did a play about gay relationships (I forget the name; the Laramee Project or something like that.) and the WBC showed up. Nobody confronted them, and they ended up just standing there in the cold weather, waving signs like idiots and yelling at nobody.

Think about it. If you have a message, what do you want to do with it? Of course you want to deliver it. That's the whole point of there being a message. And if your message falls on deaf ears, how would you feel? You'd be enraged. >: )

So enrage them.
