Other than that, make signs making fun of them and have as much fun mocking them as you can.

(As a Christian, I'd like to say that Westboro Baptist Church can go screw itself.)
You could say that without being a Christian and it'd still be just as valid.
My point was that they do not represent Christianity as a whole and even we're against them.
I respect the WBC a bit more than other Christians. Atleast they follow the Bible more literally without the heretical apologetics.
You have a pretty shaky view of the Bible then. The second greatest commandment, according to Christ, is to love thy neighbor and I'm not seeing that in Westboro. Also, the Bible speaks against condemning others, which is supposed to be left to God.

Our call is to love.

And while I'm thinking about it.... Westoboro's favorite sign "God hates fags"... God does not hate fags, he loves them. God hates homosexuality. Big difference.
No, I understand the contradicting messages perfectly. Your call is to love.....except for _____. Then you must murder. God is the only one to judge....but if you have a hunch already then go for it.

Yeah, hating homosexuality is WAY different from hating the people who practice homosexuality. *rolls eyes* I love the subtle hatred in that quote, the fact that theists convieniently forget that what we do makes us who we are and that two people making consentual love to each other is absolutely fine. Why can't those sickos just repress their natural urges and just live an unhappy life? I mean, that's all we're asking for! No big deal, right? *rolls eyes again*

Lev 20: 13 "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them."

And homosexuality isn't a choice:
"For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:"
Romans 1:26

So God made them, he hates their actions, he wants you to murder them........but he loves them. Lovely.

I've got to say one good thing about them. They say that if they were in charge of America, they would respect the First Amendment. In fact, the family that runs the church apparently have fought AGAINST people that want to have the bible in American public schools. As a libertarian and atheist, I've got to respect that.

(info derived from a phone conversation between a member of the family and theamazingatheist)

Why would God hate anything?

God being God, would mean that it doesn't think like humans, work like humans or can even relate to humans.

God judging us would be like asking a supernova to judge us.

I think we've had this discussion before.

No, you're wrong. Our call is purely to love. The ones who are out there blowing up abortion clinics or going on crusades have clearly misunderstood the teachings of Christ. We're called to live our lives by example.

Paul says that we should let sinners live their lives. Again, we must live by example and show them the way.

The books of the Pentateuch, the first five books of the Bible, are lawbooks for the old Israeli nation. It forms a basis for what Christians believe is right today, but we no longer believe in capital punishment for homosexuals, instead we believe in redemption through Christ. Our call is to expand the kingdom of Christ through Evangelism and if we're out murdering people, how is that furthering Christ's kingdom?

And back to the point of it being laws for an Israeli nation... me stoning a homosexual would be like a British person arresting a Texan in Texas for gun possession. The rules clearly don't apply.

Ok, I heard of them before and I still think it's fucking disguisting what they do, and that it has nothing to do with God.

My suggestion is - marshmellows.
Lots of them.
And get those fancy nerf machineguns

Belt fed, for extra Arrhnolld/Animal Mother effect.

You excuse the fact that God made himself human in the New Testament in the form of Christ.

And of course he can relate to humans... he made them. It's like if you built a lego airplane. No, you aren't legos but you clearly understand how these legos work to form an airplane.

*sighs* And yet you ignore the very fact that your wonderful loving god, at some point in history, demanded homosexuals to be murdered. But that's ok, because it was a different time. Just like the Christians who blather about the verse showing rape of an unmarried virgin to be a valuable way to gain a wife as "ok, but only during that time". Immorality is at it's best when coupled with illogical faith. Your religion killed homosexuals. Your religion killed innocent women. But it's ok, because back then it was a different time. o_O

Nobody protest when they are there. And i mean NOBODY!

When they leave, show up with soap and water and mops and brushes and "wash" away all thier filth and bullshit. It will make news for sure and not make the WBC look like martyrs if there is a fight.
I was going to quote a very good movie and say "form a brute squad!"

But this is actually a better idea

The best way to deal with them is to give them NOTHING.

Avoid going near the protest if you can, but if you must pass by them, don't acknowledge them or respond to their rants.

They can say whatever they want, but that doesn't mean we have to listen

"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord," Romans 6:23.

That's an effective summary of my faith right there. All I have to do to gain eternal life is to repent of my sins and believe that Christ is my Lord. As such, I do what he says. Read through John or Matthew and see what Christ himself had to say.

You forgot the part of the Leviticus verse where it said that their blood is on their own hands. It's like if you stole something in modern America, but you didn't think it was wrong, you'd still be put in prison. That's the law. It's still your fault you stole, knowing full well that it's illegal.

(I'm not going to debate the unmarried virgin verse; we've already been through that)

I did believe it is actually commonly believed that the Bible isn't meant to be taken literally.
God is a concept, through the belief of it, it exists.
If you don't believe in it, it doesn't exist.

But the problem with that is, I'm afraid, we'd need to exist before God existed for God to exist...

It wouldn't be much fun if God made us all perfect, now would it? He puts trials in our lives so that we can love through hardship. Love both others and God. The purpose of man is to glorify God... but that glorification wouldn't mean much if we were just robots that said "God is good" constantly.

Instead, we have a choice. We can hate God for our suffering or we can glorify him despite it.
