spray paint "if im standing here then im gay" all over the floor where they are going to protest.
He doesn't and that's what makes it wrong. I'm not going to tell you it isn't wrong, but I am telling you that judgment awaits that priest. Just as it awaits me and you.Cliff_m85 said:What choice does a child have when pressed against a pew with his pants down?
Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world. Maybe just a little too much though.
Isn't that a bit short-sighted of the great one?darthzew said:He doesn't and that's what makes it wrong. I'm not going to tell you it isn't wrong, but I am telling you that judgment awaits that priest. Just as it awaits me and you.
Salvation is kind of like this...
A kid with no money and his friend are at a circus and want to ride a ferris wheel. They get in line and then then the owner asks for the kid's money. But the kid's friend says, "Don't worry, dad, he's with me." The owner lets them ride.
Christ is like that kid's friend in a way. You need to have a personal relationship with him in order to get into heaven, or the ferris wheel in my metaphor. That's all there is to Christianity. Of course, there are certain things you have to do to be friends with this kid, just like any relationship, but that's it.
Wouldn't that be extremely exclusive, considering how few people of the whole world population actually are Christian?darthzew said:Christ is like that kid's friend in a way. I grew up a missionary's kid living overseas. And I've seen thousands of people convert at a time. The Bible states that we have a duty to bring the gospel to all the world, this is called the Great Commission.Skeleon said:Wouldn't that be extremely exclusive, considering how few people of the whole world population actually are Christian?darthzew said:Christ is like that kid's friend in a way. As an atheist, I don't really care, but I always figured that - because of this issue - most religious people would accept that good folks go into heaven/paradise/nirvana/whatever, no matter their specific faith. After all, your faith is mostly the result of your upbringing. It's rarely a choice (few people actually convert, at least compared to the number of people who simply grow up with their parents' faith system and keep it).
I'm not sure I entirely understand your point, but I'll try...Booze Zombie said:Isn't that a bit short-sighted of the great one?darthzew said:He doesn't and that's what makes it wrong. Surly it should know that not everyone will know of it's existence and if it loved all of it's creations, it would not punish them for not knowing or indeed reward those who do know.
The owner of a nightclub doesn't keep people out of that nightclub because he doesn't know them.
If the nightclub is even there in the first place, that is.
And by the way, I did mean "God's world".
This world which God is said to have made, it doesn't match up with what the Bible says.
So if I never talk to god, he's gonna punish me.darthzew said:I'm not sure I entirely understand your point, but I'll try...
It's written in the Bible that Christians must follow what is known as the Great Commission, or that we should bring the gospel to all the nations. This is our responsibility, therefore, all of those who aren't reached is also our responsibility.
And God's world... Yes it does?
A man is sitting at a table. There is a tranq gun right next to him. Across the room is a child coloring in a coloring book. Another man enters the room and starts coloring with him. After 20 minutes the man looks around and violently grabs the child, removing his pants and underpants. As a moral man, I can assume that you would pick up the tranq gun and save the child. However the man sitting at the table doesn't. He just watches as the sexual abuse takes place, he watches and does nothing. What would you think of such a person?darthzew said:He doesn't and that's what makes it wrong. I'm not going to tell you it isn't wrong, but I am telling you that judgment awaits that priest.
