I assume we haven't seen a koala or a kangaroo yet. Although I guess Kangaskhan can vouch for the latter.

The following are real animals that I google every time I need inspiration drawing creatures. Some a weird, some are creepy, some are just interesting anatomically, none of these are pokemon as far as I know:

Binturong, Pistol Shrimp, Gulper Eel, Arrow Crab, Pink Fairy Armadillo (real thing, google it), Fossa, Solenodon, Frilled Dragon, echidna, Vietnamese Grasshopper, Sea Pig, Honeypot Ant, Blanket Octopus, Oarfish, Coconut Crab, Yeti Crab, Ajolote Lizard, Cyclocosmia Spider, Water Bear.

Mantis: Scyther.
Stick Insect: Sudowoodo would be my best guess
Raptor probably won't be done until next gen. They always have ~2 prehistoric animals a gen.
The only thing that makes Scyther look similar to a prey mantis is that they're both green.

As for Sudowoodo as a stick insect. I can't agree at all.

I'll allow them to make something resemble closer.

Nope they have that one
Octillery

ah yes, i remember that one, second generation wasn't it?
well then... what abooouuut... an rhinoceros?
Oh come on you know who it is big hint. earth generation 1.

rhyhorn
damnit! now i remember!
sigh... okay... hm... what aboooooouuuuuuut... a walrus!
Such as Walrein?

I can't really remember seeing a spider or a sea cucumber.
there was that spinarack thing from second gen.
uuuuuum... a mongoose!
One of the defining characters for spiders is that they have 8 legs. Spinarak has 6. Also the eyes and mouth parts are wrong, though that might be Nintendo not wanting a horror movie Pokemon.
Mongoose is covered by Zangoose.
true, but it spins webs, that kinda sells it, and it's evolved form has a very spider like posture.
zangoose? COMEON!! fine then! a pile of garbage! make a pokemon out of that nintendo!
Net is not a defining character. Also Weedle and Catterpie also got net.

Pile of garbage is not an animal, but Grimer, Muk and Garbodor covers that.

Ummm. That's a pachycephalosaurus. :/
Well...technically, yes you're right. However, it's close enough to where Rampardos covers it anyway. I mean, admit or not, that's still the same basic body structure as a T-Rex.

Scythe-hands, wings, body... none of that strikes you as similar? =|
As for Sudowoodo, I said "my best guess"
I know he looks nothing like a stick insect, but I can't imagine them making an actual stick insect. Sudowoodo is probably the closest they'll make.

That would work if it was a bug type, but it isn't, is just plain rock.
And Torkoal doesn't work as a tortoise tribute, because he's fire?
