Oh, how does the PSN compare to XBL?
One charges, one doesn't.
But are the same games offered over both?
How do you mean?
Are we talking online multiplayer or downloadable games?
Downloadable games, i.e. Braid, Castle Crashers, Schizoid, N+, what kind of downloadable games are offered over PSN?

But don't count on that forever. Eventually, to cover the losses elicited by the constant adding of gaming servers, Sony is going to have to charge you something.

I'm just hoping it is cheaper than XBL.

For disc games, go for Resistance 2 and/or Killzone 2 and Warhawk for FPS. Get MGS4 and Valkyria Chronicles for very interesting exclusives that are more strategy/action hybrids that full action. If you are like me and love button mashing, there's also Dynasty Warriors: Gundam and DW:6. If you like JSRPGs, you MUST get Disgaea 3.

From that list, only N+ and I think that's only on the PSP. The PSN has a different set of stuff. Everyday Shooter would be PSNs Geometry Wars, Monsters and Savage Moon are Tower Defense games, just as two examples of how things translate. There is less to chose from, but it is all pretty much great quality. They add 1-4 titles every month so it's only growing. I'd say it became useful in the last 8 months, and offers a pretty good cross section of game types.

You can see exactly what they have here: http://www.us.playstation.com/PSN/Store

I would say, from the PSN, Everyday Shooter, Monsters, Eden, flOw, 1942 and Savage Moon are must-haves.

LittleBigPlanet, The Orange Box (if you don't already have it), Killzone 2, Metal Gear Solid 4 (even if you only get it for Metal Gear Online which is great).

Yep, that sums it up nicely, some Final Fantasy games down the road but that will take a while....

I found both LittleBigPlanet and Metal Gear Solid 4 to be highly enjoyable, though they are entirely different genres.
The girlfriend wants Little Big Planet, so that's a definite, but how Metal Gear 4? The last one I played was MG: Solid on PSOne.
MGS4 isn't nearly as girlfriend-friendly a game as LBP. The story is entertaining, though there are some excessively long cutscenes, and the action is of course much more violent. I'd say the set-piece battles and on-rails sections make it worth a purchase, because they are absolutely breathtaking.

You gotta get MotorStorm: Pacific Rift. It's lots and lots of fun, especially with friends.

I just finished Resistance 2 about two days ago. You don't really need to play the first to pick up on the story, and it was origninal *enough* to keep me playing to the end. Had some fun weapons to play around with too! My internet sucks, but I hear good things about it's online scene.

Not sure if they made PoP for xbox, but don't get it, not worth it.

FloW, Flower, Pixeljunk Monsters and Eden, Super Stardust HD, Linger In The Shadows, LocoRoco Cocorecho, Savage Moon, Noby Noby Boy, The Last Guy, Crash Commando, Wipeout HD, Tekken 5 Dark Ressurection, PAIN!, and so on.
PSN & XBL share a few games but they both have their exclusives too like the disc games. PSN doesn't do the retro thing, just new games.

Noby Noby Boy looks very ccol; it's coming out in one week and is a must buy for me: I loved Katamari Damacy and I can't pass up a $5 game by the same guys.

If you're hooking into PSN (easy enough with a wifi signal), you've got to download the free demos. There's tons of them to try for many of the games mentioned here:
Valkyria Chronicles, Warhawk, MGS4(and MGS online), Pixel Junks (Monsters & Eden), Last Guy, Resistance, and I think the Killzone 2 demo hits today; I may be wrong on that.

I mean they don't have a bunch of old games like XBL and the Wii VC. You're not going to get Super Mario Bros and Street Fighter 2 on PSN. They just have new games like Echocrome (another free demo you have to check out) and Noby Noby Boy.

So you wants Grandpas Games you go Wii-VC or XBL.

You can buy PS1 games on PSN.

You can get Street Fighter 2 HD Remix though (maybe the normal one too but I don't know that because I don't have an american account).

Some great PS3 games that I would recommend are Madden '09 and all of the Grand Theft Autos, Vice City in particular. As avid gaming fans, I wanted to let you know about what Mountain Dew is currently doing. They have looked to the public to choose their next drink flavor and the result is Mountain Dew Voltage. Mountain Dew is now looking to the gamers and extreme sports fans to give away great prizes including a Xbox and a snowboard. Voltage is loaded with caffeine and can keep you up with your favorite games all day and night. The marketing company I work for is actually running a campaign with Mountain Dew. To have some fun and for a chance to win these great prizes try out the new flavor chosen by the people and go to http://tinyurl.com/btrcgl to earn points and win!
A) Vice City is a PS2 game, and not all PS3 have the capibility to run PS2 games.
B) Don't advertise stuff here.

Really? I know my ps1 game discs play on the ps3 but I didn't know they sold downloadable versions too.
...learn something new everyday.
