Make it moddable. And I don't mean suck-ass god-guns. I mean like Unreal was, back in the day.

Yeah, it'll never happen, but damn, it would be sweet. I still play the first one to this day and would love more stuff to do.

I could really go for a class that just seemed really out there, like one that somehow specialized in lazer swords or something. Also:
-A story. It's not like it's hard to implement. I'd like it if they didn't make the protagonists as silent as last time. The guns should be the focus of the customization, not the character. I just don't lack a lack of depth being thrown away on the theory that "if we give him a personality it will ruin the immersion, because it's a first person shooter"

-Attachments for guns. A common scenario in borderland 1 was finding brilliant sniper with a crap zoom, or something to that degree. It didn't feel like the game would be unbalanced if they allowed for weapon attachments, it just makes me feel like I can never get that weapon suited just perfect for me.

-The ability to hold breath for sniping. These points might me sound like I just want another call of duty, but I just found the sniper going all over the place to be a bit too annoying.

-Keep in the creative boss battles, the older character(as an option or bonus), larger enemy and environment variation, and perk the rockets to a satisfying level.

I want to play as Roland again, that dude was OP! The others were useless, a melee guy in a ranged game? A woman who's special power is a "skip this bit" and another dude who specializes in a gun that doesn't scale well or ironically is inaccurate (sniper rifle) and hand guns that are useless in every game! (I have yet to find a game with a decent hand gun against assault rifles).
I started as Roland but switched because i really wasn't a fan of his playstyle I actually played Mordecai and loved it. pistols can actually be ridiculously good in Borderlands. I have several revolvers that do >1000 damage per shot plus elemental plus the built in crit chance and extra damage a revolver has. Also Moredcai has a skill that when fully leveled allows guns to always ignore shields.

Personally I hope they keep the very cleverly named legendary weapons. My main goal in borderlands was to collect them all (I'm actually only three or four guns short).

A better story and characters that arent just reskinned bounty boards.

And fix the guns, for a game about loot its rare I ever found a new gun that was better then one I had, I mean Ive been playing it a bit recently and realised that at level 50 Im still using a shock shotgun I got back at level 25.

fix the leveling system

fix the quest tracker where you need to find object x, y, and z. first it sends you to x, then to y at the other side of the map, then to z which is right next to x....

guns/inventory is fine. there is a gun that suits any specific need out there. want an accurate sniper rifle with lots of damage? they got that.

want a sniper rifle with high fire rate and damage that can be used at medium range, they got that.

please keep the goofiness

A menu that fits on your screen in multiplayerl. Not one that you can see a little bit of before repositioning it yo read the other side! Especially when you are trying to compare weapons, and you find it is very difficult to tell if its the right 2 weapons you are comparing!

-Significant character customisation

-More interactive/living towns and characters/AI

-Massively improved systems (banks, swapping between character's weapons, trading/auctions and so forth

-Better story, but the least necessary of these. Better quests is a must, though

Err, hate to burst your bubble, but Roland is actually not good. At least, not compared to Mordecai or Lilith. Lilith's abilities make one of the most powerful weapons in the game unstoppable (Hellfire SMGs). Mordecai is broken - His skills allow for massive damage increases, weapon fire rate increases, and 100% bypassing of shields. Couple that with late-game Repeaters being equivalent to rifles and the Savage Mashers being the most powerful non-modded guns in the game...

Personally I'd be fine if they did pretty much everything the same as number 1 but added an actual plot. Borderlands was honestly a LOT more fun than I'd expected but the lack of real plot made it hard to finish.

The first game became unbelievably boring due to me having become overpowered as hell and able to just plow through everything I came across. The UI was also awful. I hope they improve upon these two.

Also, NO. FUCKING. GAMESPY.

Also perhaps fewer guns but more drastic differences between the effects of the fewer guns. Give us a reason to use one gun or another depending upon the situation. That way we hoard weapons. Borderlands was just an exercise is use whatevers most powerful until you find something even more powerful then use that.
This seems to be what most RPG fans want though, due to it offering more customization options. Just look at the backlash ME2 got from using less weapons instead of just giving you the boring task of replacing old weapons with the same, but slightly better new weapons.
DLC3 did that pretty well. It added that one super boss that kills you in one hit and has up to 3 other minions that deal the same damage. You can only damage it in certain spots, one is on its back. Good lucky trying to get there without being a Siren.

In addition the overall difficulty of DLC3, not just Circle of Duty and the main final boss, just the enemies all around, tend to be more difficult to kill.

OT: Couldn't give a rat's ass about the story, that's hardly what the game is about. All I really want is more loot, more areas to explore, perhaps some randomly generated dungeons, more enemies, more diversity between classes and among skill trees, crazier effects on guns... And by all means, do NOT add the ability to create your own guns. Not going to even bother explaining how badly that is going to damage the loot-hunting aspect of the game.

Seems like a lot, but generally, all I want is the same game but more improved and refined, more stuff too.

To distill my complex opinions on what i want in Borderlands 2, i want an improvement.

I also want Gearbox to make sure that game breaking modded guns never make it online. That would be a huge bonus.
You took the words right out of my mouth. I just want the game as a whole to be better than the last one, and there are many things easily improved upon. Less repetitive, lifeless quests and more polish to the finish. Introduce more things. To make it seem like there's pride in it all, and not that they just needed a boss to end this peice of padding.

Ahh, the old 'launchers suck' argument. I'm suprised nobody has gotten on how eridian tech sucks too. Mostly, it's because you have a zero skill in these. Really, the launcher is meant to be used by brick alone. He can regenerate rockets, fire more of them, and use them to the greatest effect. It's all a matter of choosing the guy who knows the weapon best.

I loved Roland alot. He does kick alot of ass, and you never run out of ammo. Of course, certain weapons are the 'everfire' guns that just keep going without ever running out of a clip. Then there were those pesky semi-auto guns that I just never used. My last playthrough I used them and was pleasently suprised due to accuracy and reload speed.

We get alot of misconceptions about certain guns we don't usually use, and somebody else will pull out those guns and change them (like my early experience with revolvers, they are really good but it's alot of player skill as well).

I just hope that Borderlands 2 is a well balanced game like the first one and they don't try to bleed us dry with DLC that should be on the main disc.

for one, the ability to customize and store our own weapons.

i would also like a real story. Borderlands was really fun, but i felt like i was just droning through the game and had nothing important to do.

A better story (or really any story at all) and more gun variation. The first game basically had around 30 weapons and then everything else was just variations on the stats of those 30 weapons.

A little more plot would be nice since I kept forgetting there was a main story since all I was doing was questing and side questing, not that I'm complaining since I had a blast doing all that.

More Lilith, I loved her, and more Claptrap! He was the best part of every town I went to.

Oh, more guns and loot! You can never have enough loot!

As an admitted achievement whore (when it comes to games I truly enjoy...)

I just want fewer (if ANY) mindlessly grinding collection/challenge missions!! Fuck pizzas, bobbleheads, brains, and Circle of fucking Duty!! And Crawmerax can eat a DICK!!1!

Sorry, that was needlessly offensive (while I have chosen not to backspace it out.) I would just like them to avoid ridiculously unsurmountable challenges That DEMAND co-op and menial collections quests; seriously, running around head-shotting hundreds of zombies and PRAYING to Christ for random fucking drops of EXTREMELY rare items was NOT my idea of fun.
