The story, Nathan Fillion playing Buck, new characters, the resurrection of the pistol, firefight, and the new HUD.
Games? Who's talking about games?Amnestic said:Eh? Typical? How many Space Marine games had that story before Halo?Fauxity said:I have. It was a pretty good game. The story, on the other hand, was typical space marine drivel.Cryo84R said:Never played Halo have you?Fauxity said:Bungie does stories?Anton P. I'm also interested about the sub-plot that IGN mentioned, involving tracking down the fate of one resident of the city caught up in the chaos... that sort of hidden story stuff is Bungie's forte.

Wait a second, Bungie does stories WELL?
I'm honestly curious. Not to say Halo made up that storyline (not at all in fact) but I'm curious as to how popular they were for it to be typical. I was under the impression that Halo helped to popularise it.
Oh I'm sorry, I guess Gaming Discussion in a thread about games put me into the wrong mindset. My bad. Don't know what came over me.Fauxity said:Games? Who's talking about games?Amnestic said:Eh? Part of me wishes Halo would die off so people like you wouldn't have anything to whine about.Christemo said:that the trilogy will soon be over. now we just have to wait for Reach untill all the halo fanboys can finally be put to rest.
Please list all pieces of literature and cinema from history that involves the following key plot points of Halo.Fauxity said:No, I'm sorry. I meant that these kinds of stories are all too typical in books and movies and other media, just not games. I'll openly admit that Halo was the first really popular story of this kind. But if you consider stories not in games, then it's very clichéd.
Marathon had practically the same story.Amnestic said:Eh? Typical? How many Space Marine games had that story before Halo?

Really? From what I've seen it doesn't look that much darker or more realistic.Kellerb said:looking forward to the darker, more realistic setting.
Yeah, but see that's only one trilogy of games. Hardly makes Halo conform to a 'typical' genre, which was my point.Eagle Est1986 said:Excited, with a C, damn it really bugs me when that's spelt wrong, a lot more than most other words.

-A parasitic alien race that feeds off other life forms
-A superweapon designed to wipe out all sentient life in the universe as a last ditch effort to kill off the parasites race by starving them
-An alien covenant that wishes to activate the weapon because they believe it will cause them to "ascend"
Hell, name one.
Alternatively, look up the definition of "cliché".
Marathon had the same story as Halo? You know that's weird Marathon also had this map editing thing called Forge and anvil didn't it? And that mode kill the guy with the ball is basically oddball. Halo 3 also had these terminals that gave us more information about the story just like in Marathon. And you know what ties these all together?Eagle Est1986 said:Excited, with a C, damn it really bugs me when that's spelt wrong, a lot more than most other words.
