Very neat language trick in German that you cannot really do in English. The last word "gewesen" changes the tense of the sentence. Without "gewesen" the sentence reads: "I am the King of Sweden". With "gewesen" the sentence reads: "I have been the King of Sweden".

Not sure where I first saw it, but I think it may have been on one of the doomsday posters in the Watchmen graphic novel. In any case, I think that is a fantastically pragmatic and surreal remark to make regarding the end of one's life.
