Choose 5 of the Studio Ghibli films and chances are I like it.

Note that even though I'm Korean, I don't really watch Korean films. Yes I have seen The Host[sub]direct translation is actually 'Monster'[/sub] and yes I know of Oldboy. Not allowed to watch it >.>
Why aren't you allowed to watch Oldboy?
Parent's don't allow me; apparently it's too 'gruesome.' I haven't seen it but I somewhat agree, even though I've seen Saving Private Ryan and the Lawnmower scene from Dead Alive/Braindead.
There are some gruesome parts, but it's not throughout the entire movie. Might I ask how old you are?

Oldboy is quite brutal. Fair warning is fair.
But it's not like extremely violently brutal. But it was pretty brutal on my brain :p

Aw that really sucks. But you should still watch it whenever you get a chance, it's a really well-made movie.

Have you seen I Saw The Devil? Lee Byung-hun plays the main part while Choi Min-sik plays the bad guy. That movie is just, amazing.
Actually I haven't. I just read a little about it on wiki and it sounds very interesting and just like the kind of movie I would enjoy. I'll have to see if I can't find it somewhere. Amazon is the most likely way to go, as finding Asian movies here in Denmark is pretty hard. Thanks for the recommendation though, I never actually heard of that movie before this I saw it in this thread.

I've only seen two asian movies (I think) and they are both fucking amazing! Seven Samurai and Hard Boiled. I'm planning on watching infernal affairs and the good, the bad, and the weird.

It's pretty damn brutal too. I didn't know Lee Byung-hun could be that hardcore, (I've only seen him in G.I. Joe before I saw I Saw The Devil.)

Well, he's pretty hardcore in A Bittersweet Life as well, though not quite as brutal as I would imagine he is in I Saw the Devil. I liked him in the three movies I've seen him, Joint Security Area, Three... Extremes and A Bittersweet Life, so I'm really looking forward to seeing him in yet another movie.

Oh, and I also saw that I Saw the Devil was instructed by Kim Ji-Woon, so that bodes well. Other than A Bittersweet Life, his A Tale of Two Sisters was an excellent movie. Really creepy and man, did that movie have a plot twist.

A Tale of Two Sisters is one of my favorite horror movies ever. That movie hella freaked me out. I've never heard of Joint Security Area, what's it about?

It's actually quite interesting. It's about an investigation of a shooting that takes place in the Demilitarized Zone between North and South, which is the border between the two countries. Sounds pretty straightforward, but it's actually a very sweet movie that ends very tragically. I liked it a lot, because of the subject matter. The different look at the conflict and the human element in it, made for a great movie.

It was also directed by Park Chan-Wook, one of his earlier movies. I would definitely recommend checking it out.

A Hermit's Cave
... Without resorting to five Studio Ghibli titles:

In no real order:

Red Cliffs - for all my old man rails against the historical inaccuracies and liberties taken, I took it at face value and enjoyed it
Dragon Gate Inn (the original) - the quintessential wuxia film that introduced me to the genre
Yojimbo - had to include an Akira Kurosawa film, so I'll go for the inspiration behind the Man With No Name trilogy (found it more engrossing than Seven Samurai and others)
Okuribito - I don't know, there was just something about this film that made it so engaging
Twilight Samurai - Yoji Yamada directed this, don't think anything else need be said

Honourable mention: Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon

I already added it to my Netflix DVD queue :). Have you seen this Korean flick called Mother?
