I can't decide if I want to tear apart others lists or make a list I know others will want to tear apart. Oh well, while we're all being honest, I might as well try to upset everyone by being honest.
1. Bad controls and bad cameras are a good things, in the right type of games. They make you feel weak and afraid, and saying a game is bad for doing that is limiting the experiences games can give you.
2. Dead or Alive Beach Volleyball is a good game, and has a deeper system of controls and exploits sexy babes less than the original fighting series -or most volleyball games for that matter.
3. If you only control one character then its not an RPG. You might as well call Tekken a FPS.
4. A 5 second cut scene worse than a 5 hour cut scene if it shows something the player could actually do themselves. Integrating movies in gameplay only screws up good cinematography. Cut scenes of any length are great, if they have something worth showing.
5. No fans of First Person Shooters can seem to agree on thee best game or set of games for its genre, which typically are well known for most genres. Therefor I must assume there is no first person shooters to stands out as a culmination of the best that all shooters have to offer that I must play. So no FPS can be considered the best game ever, and none are worth playing if you have ever played one.
6. All fighting games as overly defensive and unrealistic by not allowing fighters to attack and block at the same time, and include an idea of balance into the system. (I also don't like that kicking my shin can kill me)
7. MMORPG have almost been design to play themselves. End game raids follow instructions, and are just mindless execution. I get the social fun of team work, but when you get down to it, your paying a monthly fee to play Tetris.
8. People who ***** about games needing to be art more often or design to help gain acceptance of non-gamers are dumb. Really dumb. Art is art, and even the games they don't want to count as art are art. 90% of all art in every genre and media sucks. And until someone starts playing games you can't design games for them, all you can do is make a game good.
9. Choices in games do not make them less linear, they make the game less of a game.
10. No one on the Escapist should own an X-box when they by all probability own a PC, which is pretty much the same system.
11. No one should play a sports game until LARP competitions are aired on TV.
12. Girls not only play video games, but that the ones who are into gaming are in fact more likely to be active than the ones who are not. (Though. I might just be saying that because I know the audience of girls who are likely to read this. That doesn't mean it's not true)
