True, in both the use of and reactions to the above. This goes for depictions of sexuality as well.

The story of Portal 2 is better than the first.
FF X wasn't THAT bad.
Count Bleck was the best Nintendo villain ever created.
I am livid that we are playing as Ezio again in AC: Revelations.
If the Assassin's Creed series is ever set during either of the World Wars, I refuse ever play it or any sequels following it.

I'm not 100% on this but I think "mature" refers to the fact that only "mature" people should play that certain game. A 'mature" knows the difference between right and wrong and knows that actually murdering someone in real life is wrong.

Also if violence is juvenile then why isn't the movie industry juvenile? There are quite a lot of violent movies last time I checked, in fact some very violent movies are seen as very good sometimes (Tarantino).

I think the reason everyone picks on video games is because it is relatively young and most older people don't even bother to get into it.

Dragon age sucks

Fallout new vegas was better than fallout 3

All the Halos are good games.

Treyarch, after Modern Warfare, Made more interesting and fun COD games. (except black ops was pretty fail apart from zombies)

Planetside is better than WOW

Warhammer Online was a great MMO, much more fun than WOW.

Dawn of war 2 was just as good as the first.

Red alert 3 rocked.

Brutal Legend was great.

There needs to be a resident evil reboot.

Japanese games are inferior to western games or japanese games with western influence/help.

What i'm saying is that these "mature" games are not made for mature audiences, the handling of gore and sexuality is childish. The problem is that the children are the only ones interested in these games. No adult is going to get excited for over the top violence because like you said they could watch a Tarantino film and get better gore with clever adult dialogue.

I have no problem with adult themes I just hate when they are created for an audience who shouldn't be playing them

Resident Evil had a great premise/outline for a story.
Resident Evil 4 was pretty good, but I didn't enjoy the Mercenaries mini game.
Halo had terrible play control, and felt unfinished to me.
J Rpgs usually have good stories, they just don't have very good dialogue more often than not.

Halo. Meh. A giant pile of meh covered with meh sauce and garnished with fresh, vine-ripened meh.

"Art" means nothing more than "Assholes trying to tell you what you can and can't find meaning and emotional attachment in." and as such gamers should be ashamed of wanting to aspire to that worthless label.

Catherine is a really good game. Anyone who judges it based on the art before playing it is putting up a moral front so they don't look like "perverts." And if you're one of those games as art people and are doing just that, you're a hypocrite and an asshole.

1. I enjoyed Two Worlds.

That's....that's really all I have to say.
How?

I gave that game a couple of chances, the bad graphics, dreadful voice acting, rubbish collision detection and ridiculously bad monster AI meant that I couldn't stand to play it any longer.

What did you find in the game to make those glaring faults bearable?

In response to this thread:
Voxels are the future.

Minecraft is Voxel based
Voxel = Volume Pixel
Pixel = Picture Element
(Non-one says how big a pixel needs to be or that it can't contain sub pixels.)
Now imagine Minecraft with 1000x the resolution.

Oh look, this thread again, etc.. Anywho, my unpopular opinions, for The Escapist atleast

-Gameplay should always come first, with story as a secondary goal. I'm sorry, but you can get a good story from just about every other artistic medium out there, gameplay is unique to, surprise, video games. Good gameplay can, and has, saved games with mediocre/bad stories before, for me atleast, but never the other way around.

-I preferred playing Oblivion on console, without mods. I actually enjoy the vanilla game + expansions, and honestly I just can't play it on PC, since I end up getting too caught up in modding. That, and I don't like associating myself with Oblivion modders nowadays...far too much waifu bullshit. Morrowind is not the same case, though, and thank god for that...the xbox version of GOTY morrowind is the single buggiest game I've ever played.

-I'm alright with TF2 going free to play. Certainly provided me with lots of easy wins, and I am still perfectly able to play with people I know/played with before. That, and more people getting to play TF2 isn't a bad thing.

-Final Fantasy tactics (ps1) is the best Final Fantasy, by a mile. Or a few miles. The PSP remake was great, too. Not so much the GBA/DS ones, though.

That's about all I got. I'm also a Halo fan, but outside of the Escapist that's pretty popular, so I won't count that.

here at the escapist OR anywhere else

1. I dont give a damn about regenerating health

2. I like dark and gritty

3. cutscenes are not the devil (that is unless they are 5 hours long)

4. generally I think voicless is only ok if you can customize your charachter (yes there are exceptions)

5. the Wii has absolutly nothing to offer ASIDE from the obvious nintendo franchises (metroid prime 3 was amazing)

6. Red faction Gurrela is a good game

7. people who scoff at "dark gritty COD fanboys" in favour of more "colurful" titles can be JUST as obnoxious and annoying using eaquality stupid arguments

letting the tearing apart of people favorites begin
You are correct my good man. I don't care about number 4. It's either way to me as long as the game's fun.
um...she's a girl by the way.

My opinions

1. I don't consider the I-phone as a legitimate gaming platform.
2. Minecraft is just a glorified Lego builder, nothing more.
3. The Dreamcast is the Greatest console ever made.

Their are more, but i just can't think of them at the moment.
I don't really care.
Well... you did describe her as a man, that is all.
Yeah but I don't care. If it really makes you feel that unconfortable then I'll check the person's profile before posting in the future, if I know you'll be reading through the posts and checking if everyone's been adressing everyone else correctly in terms of gender. We're from different generations aren't we. Nevermind.
No need to bite my head off, Jesus.

Like I said, I was just stating, and now you are stringing me up like it's the Spanish inquisition.

In the kindest possible way, Just drop it.
