what are your "unpopular" opinions on gaming?

here at the escapist OR anywhere else

1. I dont give a damn about regenerating health

2. I like dark and gritty

3. cutscenes are not the devil (that is unless they are 5 hours long)

4. generally I think voicless is only ok if you can customize your charachter (yes there are exceptions)

5. the Wii has absolutly nothing to offer ASIDE from the obvious nintendo franchises (metroid prime 3 was amazing)

6. Red faction Gurrela is a good game

7. people who scoff at "dark gritty COD fanboys" in favour of more "colurful" titles can be JUST as obnoxious and annoying using eaquality stupid arguments

letting the tearing apart of people favorites begin

That 2D fighters are inherently limited and I don't find them fun anymore after playing Tekken, DOA and, my favorite, Soul Calibur.

For me that's a personal reason, not because they're greedy or because of DLC or any of that. The reason I hate them is because they closed down one of my all time favourite developers...Pandemic Studios.

5. Modern Warfare 2 is a good game.

Actually I think many people think MW2 was a good and fun game, just not on this site. Although there are a lot of people on this site who enjoyed it, they don't say so very often.

6. There needs to be less fps games.

Once again, I'm pretty sure many people would agree with you.

I've thought that true for at least the last 5 years or so. I remember looking at the game selection for my first 360 game 4 years ago thinking, "I want good but not another FPS right now"

Yea I still don't get why people down on Red Faction: Guerrilla. I just finished it after getting it for cheap at EB Games and while I will admit that the story is several miles past nonexistent, I haven't had that much fun for a long time.

OT: I don't know. Zelda is boring, is that unpopular enough. Actually I've never played it, I just thought I would say something controversial. Although I do get tired of people going on about how much better games used to be. They really weren't.

Seriously, my friend tried to sell me on the new Splatterhouse with all the gore. Much like Yahtzee said, a game selling itself on gore now comes across as quaint, and to me silly.

I have trust in EA and when I find out they're the publisher of a game I'm interested in, I feel more relaxed about making the purchase.

Also, I feel games aren't art. However, most games contain art. Like well made chess sets. Chess isn't art, but the pieces and board can be.
