here at the escapist OR anywhere else

1. I dont give a damn about regenerating health

2. I like dark and gritty

3. cutscenes are not the devil (that is unless they are 5 hours long)

4. generally I think voicless is only ok if you can customize your charachter (yes there are exceptions)

5. the Wii has absolutly nothing to offer ASIDE from the obvious nintendo franchises (metroid prime 3 was amazing)

6. Red faction Gurrela is a good game

7. people who scoff at "dark gritty COD fanboys" in favour of more "colurful" titles can be JUST as obnoxious and annoying using eaquality stupid arguments

letting the tearing apart of people favorites begin
I agree with you on everything but number 6. I've never played that game.

I like CoD, and Halo. I like DA2. I'll take number 1 one step further. I think that regenerating health is vastly superior to health packs and all that crap. I prefer oblivion to Morrowind. I think that games should never be based on movies and/or tv shows. I think Black Ops was a good game.

7. Mass Effect 2 was better than the first in just about every way
Funny because I was going to say I enjoyed Mass Effect 1 was better than the 2 in almost every way. Except being an "action flick" game. Mass Effect 2 was pretty good at that.

The Wii was a joke of a system, as is a 3DS.
N64 controller was terrible, and I can't stand to play N64 games.
The WiiU doesn't impress me in the slightest.
The Xbox had nothing to offer besides the first two halos.
I prefer a controller to a keyboard.
The Xbox 360 controller is the best controller ever made, Gamecube comes in a close second.

Action games should be big, dumb fun with high-tech weaponry and huge explosons.
Realism ruins the fun
I want to see how many sequels can be made of one series

I like both Call of Duty and Battlefield, and I don't believe that one is better then the other.

I love nazi zombies.

I enjoy subtly engaging in conversations with 10-12 year olds I meet in online gaming. (not in a weird way)

I love nintendo I just wish they could make a decent console.
I'm fucking sick of microsoft pulling off their bullshit.

Golden Eye is not the greatest FPS ever made, and is nothing more to me than a glorified quick time event sequence.
Well taking that logic even further, EVERY game is a glorified QTE sequence.

Assassins Creed is garbage because you are a Middle Eastern super saiyan that can fight off infinite amounts of guars therefore you don't need to be stealthy.

- Valve are the most overrated developer in the world
- GTA IV is the worst game in the series(including the handheld ones)
- Conviction is the best game in the Splinter Cell series
- Metroid:Other M was a good game and did not ruin/kill Samus in any way
- Anyone who says that games like DA2,Other M etc. are the "worst games ever" is probably an idiot who's never played a truly bad game
- Navi is not the slightest bit annoying in Ocarina of Time

Halo shouldn't be getting a remake or any more sequels.
Nintendo died a long time ago and they should just bury the remains and move on already.
Better graphics don't make a better game.
All FPS games have their fair share of douchebags, CoD is nothing special.
PC is better at certain genres than Console, and vice versa.

I agree with 1, 2, 5, and 7

As for me:
1. DmC looks pretty bamf, passing over Dante's new look (and fyi, it's punk not emo, get your stereotypes right guys)
2. Silent Hill 2 was boring as hell (and I like survival horror)
3. Shadow of the Colossus was also incredibly boring
4. Mirror's Edge was awesome
5. While good stories are nice to have, having good gameplay is of more importance
6. Wind Waker & Twilight Princess were FUN
7. Persona is a fucking life sim, not a game, for the love of God is it dull
8. FFXII was the best FF I've played (granted, I liked IX for what I played, but it kept fucking freezing all the time, so I gave up on it)
edit: Completely forgot ME2 > ME1 in almost every way possible.

I have absolutely no problem with cover-based shooting.
I, like the OP, have no problem with regenerative health.
Halo is a genuinely excellent FPS, and it paved the way for the Xbox's rise.
That's about it for now really.

Well, in my opinion:

1. Metal Gear -series has been plummeting in quality after MGS3, with the most recent game, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, being a complete and utter piece of shit. The sneaking is as good as in Beyond Good & Evil AT MOST, and that's assuming you forbid yourself from using any silenced firearms and better camouflages. Also, remember to restart whenever you get spotted since you can take down the pursuing enemy forces with your bare fucking hands (I shit you not). At least in MGS3 the game can be pretty deep and challenging if you give yourself some meager restrictions, but Peace Walker feels broken 90% of the time even if you don't use any equipment.

/end rant

2. Sonic was never good.

3. Silent Hill 3 is just as good as SH2, and though I can completely understand the hate, I still love Silent Hill 4: The Room.

4. Parasite Eve II is miles better than the first one, and definitely at least three times better than any of the Resident Evil -games on PS1, which brings me to my last opinion...

5. Resident Evil 4 & 5 are the only great games in the main series, and I exclude remakes (Resident Evil on GC was pretty sweet), with the former having the scariest moments in the franchise.

1) Halo is a mediocre series which doesn't deserve nearly the popularity it has
2) Call of Duty is uninteresting shit.
3) Dead Space is not horror.
4) The Silent Hill games stopped being good after 2.
5) I briefly played one Final Fantasy game and hated it.
6) Indie games are often much more interesting and all around more enjoyable than triple A games.
7) Fighting games like Mortal Kombat are not full games, and should not come with full triple A price tags.
8) Deus Ex is my favorite game, and I am hoping with my entire being that Square Enix doesn't fuck it up. Though I expect they will.
9) Valve is my favorite game company.

I thought Half-Life 2 was boring when I first played it. Admittedly this was in 2009, but still, it hadn't aged well at all.

I think JRPGs can be fun.

As someone who loves RTS-es, I think the singleplayer of RTSes suck pretty much every single time. The possible exceptions being Dawn of War 2 and Starcraft 2.

I think almost all the new units in Starcraft 2(except the stalker and the phoenix) were boring as shit.

All Rockstar games are all crap.
Most hack and slash are crap.
Most sandboxes are superfluous and are just there to pad out playtime.
Photo realism in the violence takes the fun out of the games.
All games that RELY on multiplayer as the main selling point that are not MMO's should not be made.
Everything exclusive to the 360 that is not an XBLA indie title, Mass Effect, or Tales of Vesperia is not worth playing.
The only Final Fantasy game I actually liked was XIII.

and Finally

I love the concept of the WiiU. Nintendo pretty much told developers "It has every possible interface, HD graphics, and a second screen. What can't you do with it? Experiment and innovate to your hearts content." If they get a downloadable indie section worth a damn they *could* be an unstoppable innovation machine.
Wow, these are really, REALLY uncommon opinions. What games do you enjoy, out of curiosity?

Final Fantasy 9 is the best Final Fantasy.

Half-Life 2 is very boring.

Prince of Persia (2008) was worth the £10 I paid for it.

Ocarina of Time is a good game but it's nowhere near as good as everyone says.
Majora's Mask is absolutely awful, however.

Alpha Protocol is very good.

Super Smash Brothers Brawl is better than Melée.

Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 is terrible.

Doom 2 was a bore and not worth the 800 Microsoft Point I paid for it.

Minecraft is horrible.

Donkey Kong 64 isn't all that great.

Splosion Man stopped being fun halfway through and wasn't much fun before then either.

Braid is ugly and boring.

Two Worlds is a good game.

That should do for now.

EDIT: Mirror's Edge is one of the best games of this generation.
