Night Angel Trilogy. FUCKING YES! I came into this thread intending to post that.

However it makes me kinda sad that the movie rights have been sold. There's no way they'll be able to turn it into as good of a movie as it was of a book. And since any game that's made will likely be a movie tie-in, it'll probably also be shit.

I think those books would have made a much better video game. The scale and depth in the setting could have easily fleshed out a huge RPG. Book to Movie = Bad. Movie to Game = BADDDDDD. Book to Game hasn't really been done (except for Dante's Inferno, I guess) but it has the potential to blow any other media conversion away.
I completely agree. Book to Game would be way better than Book to Movie and then Movie to Game. I think it would have a lot of the same mechanics as Assassin's Creed, in the stealth and assassination area, but a little more too, since you could finish people off any number of ways with the ka'kari.

Lets see, we have two discworld books that turned unto movies by now... Soooo..

Can I haz Grim Reaper next? Please?
As cool as Death is, a Tiffany Aching Movie would beat the living daylights out of Harry Potter. Besides, we already saw a bunch of Death in Hogfather, and we need some Granny Weatherwax.

After that Id vote for a movie with Vimes, but the only thing that makes me question that choice is which Vimes story? And it needs to have lots of Vetinari as well.

Exactly. The whole thing about being a wetboy is that you have magic to back up whatever other natural abilities you have. Turning invisible would be a hell of a tool, same with taking the black-skinned form. I would think that concocting a poison and sneaking all the way into a target's house just to administer it, then sitting in the corner and watching them die from it, would be much more satisfying then fighting hordes of guards like you usually have to in Assassin's Creed.

And at the same time you'd have the politics surrounding you, in dealing with the Sa-Kage and competing with other wetboys. It would make a hell of a game.

THE BIBLE comon it could be an Beat Em Up where Jesus and Moses fight throught the roman army. You could have powers that you level up called miracles that help you heal. There should be a special power for each of the characters, like Jesus' called the hand of god which brings holy god powers that makes everyone on screen into believers that then fight by your side.

Ok i've stopped joking, I think that the Alex RIder series should become a game, like kids Splinter Cell or something.

'At the Mountains of Madness'! It's the ultimate mythos story, in that it actually explains some of Earth's ancient history.
Actually Lovecraft stories get adapted into low budget fright films fairly often, they're just not usually very good.

'Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth' is my favorite spooky game of all time. Though it's really an adaptation/combination of two or three different stories, none of which being Call of Cthulhu.

The entire Elric series. It would make for some seriously awesome movies and video games. I'm amazed it hasn't been done yet.

Also Malus Darkblade (from Warhammer not 40K). He had a wonderful series of books and it's be nice to play as a badass Dark Eldar instead of the stupid Imperium all the time.

Perhaps House of Leaves as an RPG or adventure game? Done right, it might be interesting.

I want a Mortal Engines Movie. Giant cities on giant tank treads hunting down other giant cities on giant tank treads for the win! Airships, characters, and plot win as well but the image of the traction cities can not be removed from my head.

Wait just a moment

In December 2009, it was stated that the New Zealand filmmaker Peter Jackson intended to make a movie based on Mortal Engines.[4] In April 2010, it was confirmed that WETA are in fact working on the movie, and that Peter Jackson will be both directing and producing. Apparently the film is to be shot in Stereoscopic 3D.
Whoooooooooo! Peter Jackson! WETA! Stereoscopic 3D!
This. A thousand times this. I was so happy when they announced the film XD Looking back on it, those books were so deep, filled with all these little references that I didn't get the first time. Excuse to re-read :D

Isn't this already being done? The TV series is called Legend of the Seeker. I watched a few episodes and wasn't horribly impressed with the adaptation.

Also, I can't make it past book 4 or so simply because it starts feeling too forced at that point. One of these days I'll force myself to read all of them but it hasn't happened yet.

OT: I'm hesitant to want any of my favorite books turned into a game/movie/tv series because I'm afraid they'd inevitably destroy what made me love it in the first place. If I had to pick one, I'd say the Genesis of Shannara series from Terry Brooks would be my first pick.
I made it past book 4 sadly. If they made a Sword of Truth movie it would probably become one of my most hated movies of all time. I just seriously hate Goodkind's characters with a burning passion. It prompted me to go on a search for fellow Goodkind haters and led me to this amusing site full of spoilers.

http://sandstormreviews.blogspot.com/2006/08/goodkind-parodies.html

I'll suggest books from the Gentleman Bastards series, but I don't think a movie could do it justice.

"The hunger games"

They would be the most awesome movie EVER if done the right way.
They're being made into films now. i haven't read them but my friend has and he loves them.
http://hungergamesmovie.org/

I would want the Demonata by Darren Shan. They would be hard to do because they're for teens and up but are extremely gory so there would have to be some gore but not too much. They made the Saga of Darren Shan into a film (Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assisstant) which was 'meh' but the Demon books would be tough.

Um, why is there not a Legend of Drizzt game yet? Or Gotrek and Felix for that matter. They're practically made to be video games! Also, I would play the shit out of a game set in Glen Cook's Black Company series. An RPG, maybe?
