What brought you to the Escapist?

I didn't come here for Yahtzee.

I came to The Escapist in 2005 because it was being advertised in some of the other blogs I followed as the hottest thing in New Games Journalism with a slightly academic bent. I was thinking that maybe it might be a good venue for some of my writing (once I got my dissertation done). Then the magazine turned to a more commercial venture and basically stopped being New Games Journalism and just became Gaming News. I stopped paying much attention. Though I'd stop by every once in a while.

I ended up getting really involved with The Escapist and the forums again when Rebecca Mayes showed up. Here love song to Yahtzee encouraged me to watch him. I still do here and there, but I don't follow him much. All the things I did follow ended leaving The Escapist. Right now, I'm only here for Tales of the Table. And the forums are okay...though it gets a bit tiring when people post the exact same thread every 6 months.

I'm. was a fan of both urealms and lrr before thye came to the escapist, i still watch some of the stuff put up at urealms. The series also started again recently (episode 50).

I watched Yahtzee on X-play. I used to just type zero punctuation into Google and go to the video page. Unforgotten Realms (and maybe There will be Brawl) is what branched me into the website.

Zero Punctuation reeled me in, Extra Punctuation, Unskippable, Loading Ready Run, Jimquisition, Broken Pixels, Critical Miss, Extra Consideration and Extra Credits - while it still ran here - keep me hooked. Kind of like Heroin, really.

I also enjoy the odd column and update on news in the gaming world.

Urgh76 convinced me to join the forums after running into him, of all places, on Omegle. And then we discussed ponies. 'Twas awesome.

The news is very nice too, keeps me up to speed on current gaming events.

...By showing me Zero Punctuation some years ago. I only recently watched nearly every episode before eventually checking out the forums, and I saw MovieBob's Captain America review. The Extra Credits debacle brought my attention to the show, and I've only just learned about Extra Consideration, but I'm already reading through them.

Jesus, Yahtzee's brought a lot of traffic to this site.
