I almost dont want to post this, because it seems to be attention grabby.

I learned that I don't like one of my friends, and she doesn't like me anymore. We reached a tough point in our... friendlationship, and we can't work it out. Or at least, I don't want to work it out. Can't say what she wants, but it would appear she would like to hide behind insults. The reason it bothers me is because we have every class together.

We can't really avoid each other.

I figured the best way to avoid a person is to just ignore them, but it turns out its not gonna work in this case. I can already see the future, and I am quite sure I am gonna have to do multiple school projects with her. Its just how life works out.

I learned that singing Ain't That a Kick in the Head all day will piss off my classmates, who prefer rap and hip hop. I also learned that I should never fuck with the fat ***** who abuses alcohol daily... fucking attacked an eighth grader who's only 4'11", punching her in the face and slamming her head on the floor... and the poor girl stood there and took it. Fucking hell, and the little one used to be my best friend... I wanted to intervene, but the fat *****'s friends were blocking everyone.... and most of my grade was fucking cheering her on.

Pardon the vulgarity, but it pissed me right off.

I learned a variety of reasons any country, but particularly a small one, would want to become imperialistic; how to use comparative adjectives in spanish, reviewed polynomials, learned about life in Africa before and during WW2 for a child, how to make major triads, the I need to review my chemistry after 2 weeks of holiday, and that I won't hate my English class nearly as much this trimester. Not as much as usual because it's the day after vacation so it was mostly review and talk about what we're going to do, but it's enough.

Nothing. The only thing I'll learn is how fucking stupid my DataBase Fundamentals professor is on acount of the exam I'm about to have. Unless you solve every question by HIS and only HIS logic then you fail despite que fact that you have a million different ways to solve them correctly.

Had my first day of FILM 2601, the Business of Superheroes. Met my instructor, assembled my team for a group project, and watched Unbreakable. Yeah, this is going to be an awesome class.

The class goals involve learning how to identify the conventions and iconography of superhero films, analyze the role of source material in adaptations, the economic role of superhero movies, and - because it's a film studies class - deconstruct meaning from the films and materials. We're going to accomplish this, in our group projects, by pitching a film or TV adaptation for a comicbook series (My group is assigned The Runaways.) and creating mock production blogs and press materials.

In short, sweetest elective ever. It'll be fun, and it'll give me and my merry band of nerds a chance to really show off our talents in a way that a twenty-page essay doesn't allow us. A much needed change of pace.

(PS: Forgot to mention - our required readings include The Dark Knight Returns and Watchmen. I'm set!)

G'day to all my fellow escapists!

Do you go to school, high scool, college, or are you studying at a university, etc?

Then share something with us that you learned today (or perhaps just before the Christmas holidays/Winter break, if you haven't started yet!).
[sub]If you didn't learn anything in school then feel free to share something else of interest that you have learned from... anywhere![/sub]

This is my 1000th post on this forum, and I thought I'd celebrate by creating a simple, hopefully, entertaining and informative/educational thread, filled with useful and useless knowledge!

Edit: Damn I use a lot of commas.
High School
Senior

and I learned that it is NOT a good idea to bring your umbrella to school when it's handle looks like a katana and you have to walk 2 miles home through busy street after first period

I learned that teachers burning popcorn during 6th period is flipping sweet, and no one in my 6th period class knows where west or east is.

Eh. I am on winter break. What did did I learn today?

And I finally got 49 out of 50 achievements on Vanquish. Not sure what the lesson to be learned there is...um...after we are dead the only thing we are survived by is our achievement scores?

I'm at a university, but I'm on break until the 18th. And I got off on the 17th. Of December.

Ha ha.

But as for something I learned at the end of the semester....Hmm.....Well, I learned that my friend's roomate(known as Gay David because there are two roomates named David, and this one is quite flamboyant) is a fucking asshole. Despite being a FUCKING COLLEGE STUDENT, he still doesn't know how to run a load of fucking laundry, so despite the fact that there are several machines in the basement of every dorm(which can be used FOR FREE), every week his mom drives down from Las Vegas, New Mexico(a roughly 2-3 hour drive) just to pick up his laundry and do it for him. It's RETARDED. Especially since just teaching him to do it himself would be the easiest thing in the world.

Sorry, but this kid pisses me off to no end.
