Incidentally, I've been to the Brisbane Mana Bar several times - the photos you've no doubt seen do NOT do justice to just how tiny the place is.

Your spiders have health bars and your beaches are full of dangerous animals. Not sure what Yahtzee sees in the place to be honest.

Oh, and you drive on the wrong side of the road.
No, you drive on the wrong side of the road.

Also the spiders are not that bad, they're quite weak and you barely ever see any of th...

...hang on one second.

*crawling back to the desk, bruised and bloodied*

Like I was saying they're not that bad.

Now If you'll excuse me, a crocodile just burst through my front door...

wow, you guys are realy worried about the insects? you do realise its mostly hype on the internet (mostly)
That's right, the insects aren't too dangerous. It's the arthropods and especially the water life that you've got to watch out for. :)

best thing. beaches that arent grey, black, cover in rocks or pebbles.
Hang on, don't most beaches around the world look more-or-less like that? That's just what I automatically think of when I think "beach".
Maybe I've been spoiled, growing up here.

Yeah! Ok, it helps that spiders aren't actually insects...

Seriously, though, IIRC, nobody has died from spider bites since antivenoms were developed.

[small]Spiders have realised this and now prefer to attack people who are driving cars and cause them to crash, they do still kill people this way[/small]

Kevin Rudd (AKA Kevin 24/7, AKA Kevin 747, AKA Kevin O'Lemon) was bad at running the country. But Julia seems to be doing a good job at the moment... She's pushing towards an environmentally sustainable future for Australia. Even though some of the policies are a little bit flawed at least her heart is in the right place unlike the last government and the Liberal party as a whole.
Well, the problem with the carbon tax is that it will ruin Australia.

If by "Australia" you mean "several large mining and industrial concerns".

And if by "ruin" you mean "make them give up some of their record profits".

Us and the vast majority of the world. The standard is by far drive on the right, you and a few other oddball nations insist on driving on the left for some bonkers reason.
IIRC, the side you drive on is derived from the side wagons and carriages passed each other on, way back when. What is now much of the US, being British, used to pass on the left, only when they changed everything once they gained independance, a bunch of crazy patriots decided they'd not want to pass other wagons the British way either.

I imagine the roads weren't much fun until they sorted that out.

Well I live in Australia right now and the winter in Western Australia was not rainy at all, I would say Australia is an awesome place to be but some of the laws are annoying and that the R18+ rating hasn't came out yet, but get some more American food here and it will be awesome.

Guys our spiders and snakes aren't that bad I prefer those than a pissed off emu or magpie. The racism isn't anywhere near as bad as it used to be (for those of you that have seen Romper Stomper yes that shit happend constantly for years). Our politicians are wankers and some of our laws are a bit fucked (if someone attempts to break into your house but trips and breaks their leg in your yard they can sue you). But we're generally decent folk aslong as you can hold your drink and arrive here legally.

as a kiwi, my opinion of Australians might be vastly increased if this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Underarm_bowling_incident_of_1981

didn't happen... not that i was *ahem* alive then... but yeah, all the Australians I've met are more or less agreeable.

Considering the general nice-ness of the Aussies, I can't say I dislike the place. Coupled with the great nature (although everything in it wants to kill me), I love Australia ^_^

maybe other beaches do look like that but alot of the time on tv/movies the beaches i see are like brown dirt or covered in rocks or something. instead of near white sand.

the image i linked is like just next to the worlds whitest sand beach according the guiness world records

Australia seems to be a pretty decent country. Don't hear much disturbing news coming from that side of the world, so it seems quite developed, stable and safe (unlike here). But I can't stand the heavy accent some Australians have (not all of them).

Also, I'm south African, so I most certainly do not like your Rugby and Cricket teams. We're just better. Accept it. :p

If we're going to go by "majority rules" then maybe America can consider changing their date format.

You know the one that they use and no one else, the mm/dd/yyyy one?

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to feed my kangaroo.

Kind of needy and starved for attention. This isn't the first time this thread has been made.

Seriously though, Australia is a good place. It has it's problems like it's human rights record in regard to its indigenous and refugees but it's working on those the best it can. Julia Gillard has possibly the worst speaking voice on the planet but as long as you don't elect Abbott as PM I can cope, (please don't.) I get the impression that union politics have too much control over the country, I always hear about strikes and protests, not to mention the hand unions had in the ousting of Kevin Rudd, (who has a much nicer speaking voice.) There also seems to be a bit of economic difficulty in regard to the two-speed economy which is reliant on the resources industry and China which may be a problem in the future. There also seems to be an active and, if not large at least loud bogan/redneck population. Sporting wise I think you win too much. Australians in general can be fickle and even a little selfish sometimes - just in my experience - but are all-in-all decent people who'll greet a stranger as a friend. Overall a pretty cool country.

Just a few impressions.

(I work for an Aussie company.)
