People usually don't believe that I'm really 16. They all assume I'm much older. A couple of people have referred to my age as the ultimate cockblock after hearing me say, "Sorry, I'm actually only 16," to people. And my school friends refuse to believe that I'm secretly very girly, but I guess that's fine by me.

That I am 38. Most people go "No way! I thought you were in your mid twenties."

Also that I am, in fact, actually a dog.

PS - That's 38 in dog years for the record.

Nobody ever believes that, as a roofer, I'm neither a criminal, nor am I Hispanic, although the later is apparently a misconception that's only common in parts of the US where the migrant labour pool has a large percentage of Mexican immigrants.

The criminal thing, though; I'm seriously one of a relatively small percentage of roofers that I know that can get a complete DoD clearance without having to get a work waiver, which means that I can (theoretically) get immediate authorization to work on RCAF structures, in the event of a maintenance call.
Lol, now that I think of it just about every "contractor" I have met has done time.
Have you ever seen the bit in the Charlie Sheen movie 'Cadence' where the other prisoner explains about how it's offensive to 'ask what you're in for?', and the better option is to 'ask what they're accused of?' I've replayed that scene at so many job-sites, it's almost a fucking trope.

Here's another thing that many people seem to refuse to believe about me: although I'm not really great at it, I can hand-sew, and I understand a little bit about late medieval garment construction, particularly corsets. My girlfriend is a professional seamstress and costumer, and she specializes in Elizabethan garments, which (for the women) include corsets.

I'm by no means an expert, but I'm actually quite capable of helping a woman put on the bulk of the clothes that would be commonly worn by an Elizabethan noblewoman, and I'm about to start learning how to properly wear Elizabethan mens' garb.

My age.

Not so much recently, but I usually get guesses around 16.

I turned 22 this past January.

When I worked in a shop (was made redundant last week), people didn't believe that I had a degree. Especially customers. I got into an argument with a guy who was claiming that 1984 (George Orwell) was written in 1972, and when I tried to gently correct him he sneered, "Well what do you know?" When I told him I had a First in Modernist Literature he laughed and told me I wouldn't be working in a shop if I had a degree. Apparently he hadn't taken a gander at the UK economy recently. =/

I also get ID'd for 15s and 18s, even though I'm nearly 22. Flattering in one way, annoying in another.

People don't seem to believe that I can do stand-up comedy and am currently looking for a gig.

Eh, some people try to deny certain things about me. Such as being nonsexual.
That doesn't last long, I just tell them how it is, and show them the definition.
Oh god, I can relate to that! More than half the people I've told[footnote]Which isn't that many, because really, who needs to know?[/footnote] tell me I'll grow out of it, or I'll meet "The One".

Lots of people tend to not believe I can sing, or I was in a choir.

...Or I don't feel the cold unless I'm asleep or I want to.

...Or I read Harry Potter 7 in a single sitting.

There's actually a fair bit I keep under wraps, come to think of it... :/ Huh...

People find it hard to believe that I enjoy both metal [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84NVNzesY-8] and anime [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DA1uAqhJphU].

Most people seem really surprised when I say I was raised by mormons (the whole "aggressively homosexual alcoholic" image i've been cultivating for the last year is to blame for that disbelief, I'm sure).

Other than that, people NEVER believe me when I say "if you do [that/whatever], I will bite you." The response is usuall "no you won't", and the person continues whatever they were doing. Then I bite them, and then they're all surprised. I *warned* you!

How long I've been playing guitar, how little sleep I get, and how radical some of my views are.

I get the feeling people don't believe me =P

Well, good thing about being nonsexual is that it does not mean you can't be in a relationship.
I'm nonsexual, but I am in a happy, budding relationship with my boyfriend, who I will be meeting later this year <3
Some people don't understand that one thing does not exclude the other >.>
But a little explaining normally fixes that, thankfully <3

Pretty much the same as this, except people don't believe that I sleep with girls.

People don't believe I'm 25 (I look young for my age).

People don't believe I dated the daughter of someone who worked on the original Oregon Trail.

I'm one of the hugest assholes I know, yet even while being a complete prick, I will be referred to as "a nice guy" or "sweetheart." Either people just don't understand me or maybe they understand me all too well. Either way, can't seem to win for losing.
This in a nutshell.

Everyone I meet believes I straighten my hair, but I bloody don't! Its naturally straight! Why is that such an amazing concept that it means it must be untrue? Its really annoying.
