In America, DBZ hit its high in the late 90s. The 30 minute show spent 22 minutes on telling the back story, forshadowing future episodes, and commercials. It was frustrating to watch. After a while the characters became so powerful that the beings that could smash a planet, were battling on a planet with minor damage to the planet while trying to kill each other. Even the "evil" ones.
I got more from renting the rest of the DB world than the regular DBZ series that made it on Cartoon Network. You know, movies that had definate beggings and endings.
In the end on the DBZ series ALL, ALL IN CAPITALS bad guys ALL became good when a new bad guy showed up. (except maybe Cell)
While I appreciate the animation style, the story was just trite, repetative, formulamatic, and just plan sucked in the long run.
