The evolutionary purpose of life is to procreate before dying, preferably passing on beneficial genes to our decedents and to let those with inferior genetics die out (traditionally decided by natural causes).

Depends on what you mean.
Life is to be in the state of exisistance with the ability to expand or proliferate. Or essentially as an earlier poster put it, sex. Although on a intllectual level one can also proliferate ones-self by spreading your ideas and opinions and influencing others.

Or did you mean, 'what is the purpose of life?'
In which case I've always been taught that our purpose was to bring glory to God. Although that question seems to be fraught with far more controversy. Personally, I've yet to see any evidence that having faith in God and simply being nice to people has ever been a bad thing.
