Spiders are so helpful in killing other bugs that I let them live. Most other things get killed. Then I string them up or put their heads on spikes, hoping that other bugs are able to take a hint.

Btw, I noticed yesterday that moths burn really well ^^

I found this badboy in the garden and trapped it in a glass to take these photos. Released it afterwards.

It's the size of a bumblebee, about 22mm. Thought at first it was a hornet or queen wasp, but the fly-like compound eyes give it away. Turns out it's the hornet mimic hoverfly, Volucella zonaria. Rare but gaining in numbers in southeast England.

OT: Flies, mosquitoes and wasps shall be crushed by blunt force trauma. Other critters can be trapped/released or just ignored, unless they really bug me.

Although I believe in preserving life as much as possible, ants, dangerous spiders, hornets and wasps get no sympathy from me. I kill them on sight.

I'll pick up and let harmless spiders (like jumping spiders), butterflies, cockroaches, and beetles outside though.

I gas em, then I take them to my back room where I interrogation them for information.

WHO ARE YOU WORKING FOR YOU SIX-LEGGED-BASTARD??!!
...Their queen obviously. You didn't know about her insatiable desire for the grandest empire history has ever seen?
Then I must disguise myself as one of them, infiltrate their society and gain their trust...Then once I am close to the queen I will poison her drink...
