I have four major problems with new games, but I also have alot of nitpicky problems with them as well. For one I think there just too easy and the few that arent easy all the way through have such a strange and floppy difficulty curve, instead of steadily rising it goes down to easy and back up too hard several times. My next complaint is that the story modes are too short I assume to make room for the very nice graphics, I also think that all this exclusive haha you cant buy this game because you dont have the right console BS needs to stop, my final complaint DLC, not DLC in general just the money you have to pay for it, I already spent 60$ dollars on the game and now your gonna nickel and dime me for the really good stuff that really sucks.

I hate how the make me feel inadequate. I can only play online for so long without getting mad that I'm being looked down on for only playing for an hour or two a day at max.

Too much focus on multiplayer and realism, not enough focus on storytelling and world-building.

Shiny Graphics > Characters and Plot

Thus why Twilight Princess is my favorite plot-driven game of the new generation of consoles. The controls were buggy as hell but they took the same old Zelda story, mixed it up, and made it more interesting.

I like new video games, what's there to hate? Co-op is especially appealing to me and my cadre of friends.

1. Replay Value. Seriously, where the fuck did that go? I used to enjoy playing games on my N64 and Super Nintendo over and over again.
This actually has a lot more to do with the player than the game.

I've played Gears of War's campaign about twenty times, and I won't even try to recall how many times I've played through Halo 3. I'm about 1/8 through my playthrough of Super Mario Galaxy as Luigi. And combining Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Dragon Age: Origins together nets close to forty playthroughs.

Though you may also notice that many modern games have a meta-game rather than an end. Grand Theft Auto IV and Assassin's Creed are good examples.

The main thing i despise about newer games, at least on the PS3, are the User Interface. Most new games are designed for large TVs. After playing a few games at a friend's house with a 42 in TV, It's nearly impossible to enjoy those games on my smaller TV. I find myself with my face in the screen or just skipping dialog/not using minimaps. Playing the older games, such as Final Fantasy 9, I can sit across the room and still enjoy the game, not missing anything at all.

Also, with these newer games: I remember being rewarded with awesome CG scenes in alot of games like Final Fantasy, Tenchu, and Resident Evil. Now-a-days just about everything is rendered with In-game graphics. Yeah it's easier to do but it feels less rewarding.

The mediocre writing. The developers are spending millions of dollars on these games; you'd think that would be enough to ensure decent quality in all fields, but it's almost become accepted that videogame stories just don't really matter.

Going to have to say the difficulty, games are either way too easy or have such a learning curve that it makes playing the game not fun.

I can understand how price can be an issue, I might not be able to buy most games on their release dates however I don't find it difficult to start saving before hand.

My biggest issue with games though would be one very original title will come out and within a year there are two to four "rip offs" of that game.

Two things. 1)A game is specifically advertised for its cooperative mode, but then, after paying some $60 for the game, you find out you can only play Co-op ONLINE. 2)Costs.

Points that disappoint me now:
No Mascot races (IE Nintendo vs Sega vs Sony[MariovsSonicvsCrash])
Storylines are not always compelling
Storylines are usually lacking
Cost
Too Easy
Too much share on Multiplayer/Co-op

I hate realism, although that fad might be dieing down now.
Well to me, realism is a every now and then thing...

The only complaint I have is when games try to be realistic when it obviously is forced and doesn't work properly and makes the game terrible *stares at GTAIV*
And when done right can make a game awesome.

OT: Games have become marketable. Therefor publishers Activison and EA pull crap like charging extra for games, forcing countless sequels down our throats, cutting off online play for a game when a sequel comes out (forcing us to buy it), and BULLSHIT DRMs. Ubisoft

- All FPSs (excluding Valve games)
- Shit Single Player
- Uninteresting Bottom of the Barrel Hollywood Storylines
- Uninteresting Suburban White Boy Fantasy Characters
- Marketing of the Industry in general towards that specific demographic
- Uninteresting Art Design

Let's see...

-over focused on multiplayer / under focused on single player (in my perspective)

-Way too simple to learn, no complexity, and the it feels like the game is holding my hand most of the way through most new games.

-realistic graphics and style while simultaneously horribly unrealistic mechanics (if you have one it leads to the expectation of the other I guess).

-repetition of horribly cliched and/or Hollywood character stereotypes. I guess this would go for writing in general to a lesser extent.

-DLC sucks... nothing complicated about it, most companies just treat it as a product where they can put in 1/100th the effort for 1/10th the price.

-Not enough expansion packs. I miss expansion packs like HW: Cataclysm, Brood War, and even C&C Generals: Zero Hour. They were decent content for a decent price.

-Same **** different title. Playing one cover based shooter feels awfully like all of the others. From Killswitch to GoW to R6V I still feel very underwhelmed (not to pick solely on the cover shooter sub-genre, there are plenty more to pick on).

-Where the **** did adventure games, flight sims/games, space games go? Remake TIE-Fighter if you're gonna remake the same games over and over...

Blarg, I'm getting into rant mode. For the sake of humanity and reasonable discussion I'll stop here.

The lack of true ambition that we see in the industry right now. Hopefully, motion-control will change things up a-bit!
