All games have awesome moments like when you destroy sovereign in Mass Effect or when Hale gets shot in the head in Resistance 2. But they also have some pretty depressing scenes. So my question is what is the saddest moment you've ever seen in a game.

I know that mine is when you see Old Snake in MGS4 going through what is basically a giant microwave.
When the new users don't use the search button, or even have the thought that a thread about video game moments hasn't already happened in a forum over 2 years old.

Oh, wait.

I'm not a heartless asshole but is it really that sad to see a videogame character die? I guess I just have no emotions in games, Dead Space and Doom 3 didn't scare me at all, I laugh whenever someone dies and I just don't care about the characters in games. I was disappointed when Sniper Wolf and Psycho Mantis died in Metal Gear Solid, but I didn't come close to crying and I forgot about both of them 5 minutes later.
What are you like with films/TV?
I haven't cried in a movie but I was sad at parts of God Father and Gran Torino, but those movies actually have characters that are deeper than a piece of paper.
The ending to Gran Torino is epic. Fantastic movie.

The sorrow starts when I turn it on.
After 30 minutes of playing it, it was turned into level for a wobbly chair I had.
Which game?
I meant to quote my last post.
Accidentally hit reply. Sorry, but it was Wall-E

Sad as in pathetic or sad as in sad? Because if its the latter, then definitely Aeris' death in Final Fantasy 7. Knowing you'd never see those huge eyes blink again...you'd be lieing if you said you didn't cry.

Beyond Good & Evil, when Jade goes back to the house after the children have been taken, and does her little speech to Woof. Gets me every time.

In Dreamfall, replaying Dr Park's recording of Faith's final months in Stark, at the Wati testing facility in Saint Petersburg.

Such an emotional ride, that game.
For me the entire end of that game was sad, simply because NOTHING got any closure! I want them to come out with the next part, but no news about it yet :(

The start of Homeworld, where Barbers 'Adagio For Strings' is playing and the player has to sit helplessly while his jump engines warm up, watching the alien fleet destroy Earth, listening to the radio chatter as the panicked defenders make a doomed last stand.
Radio goes silent, the planetkillers home in on Earth, the music peaks and fades, engine hum builds, fade to black...
Incredible sequence. I spent the whole game gutted by that scene.

Heh, I know... what's the connection between Wati and the Azadi? What are they planning with that tower and with the dreamers? Is that really Reza in the hospital room? And what is the deal with the Undreaming?!

Oddly it was probably that one marine that you play as in Call of Duty 4. He doesn't talk at all, but I was totally expecting him to survive the nuclear blast somehow, and when he woke up in the aftermath of that shit, i tried to make him run and i heard his leg break which made me feel really bad for some reason lol.

Wouldn't you love to know all the answers?? I would! Also could they have had a worse ending?? I seriously almost chucked my computer out the window when I realized that the game was over . . . grrrr

The Darkness, seeing your girl (forgot her name, it's been a while since I played) killed right in front of your eyes, then watching in the mirror as you turn your pistol on your self. . .

I'd say the most depressing part of any game is when ur in the middle of an epic boss fight and haven't saved in forever and then the power goes out

Makes me cry every time
