It is a wonderful site filled with wonderful people! Even with all the arguing, it just makes the site more interesting!

I mostly post in User Groups and the Forum Games but I often come to the forums to see the latest topics and contribute! This place is also where I get all my gaming (and odd) news.

I think I have friends here than I have in town!
Tizzy, go home you're drunk.
Can't be drunk, on holiday in Florida and the legal drinking age is 21 (woe is me, 19 year old Irish with no alcohol)
Now you know how the law abiding teens in the US feel! I laugh in your general direction.
Hey don't laugh! It sucks that my parents can drink while I am there drinking Dr Pepper without vodka (although refills are free in TGI Fridays so that is something)
How long will you be suffering through our wonderful drinking laws?
A good 3 and a half weeks (although 5 days have passed already) You people and your drinking laws, I am Irish and I am disappoint!
Find and Irish bar and look sad. I'm sure they'll sort you out! :D

I once saw a guy advocate sending all religious people to camps where they would be killed or sterilized. No one called him out on it. Left a bad taste in my mouth.
That sounds like blatant trolling to me, I assume people would have purposely ignored him because arguing with people like that is like shouting at a brick wall, so nobody took the bait.
I've seen ignorant posts, mainly in the R&P section like 'adoptions should be mandatory' or some crap. It's a bit of a grey area because while it sounds like hate speech to us, they'll say it's just their opinion or idea. Ignoring them is sometimes the best course, they want us to argue with them. Some are very sneaky in how they word things. Even sometimes posts like that slip through the cracks and don't get moderated.

You're all just a bunch of geeks constantly jabbering about geeky things.

And I love ya for it!

Sure this place can sometimes get flooded by over-exposure threads, but it still remains nice and clean overall.

Some fairly interesting people stand out amongst the crowd. There's a significant minority of elitists and over-sensitive types here, and the mods absolutely disgust me with their warnings for absolutely any 'infringement' they seem fit, which tend me to not post hardly as much as I used to. Don't take it personally, mods, but lighten up a bit, yeah?

That being said you get better discussions (albeit repeated constantly for months on end) here than other places on the net.

Nobody is allowed to post pictures of a woman shitting in her own mouth so that's a pretty good plus side right there. Unfortunately though I do think the community could do with being funnier and better at jokes/banter generally.

What we need is to implement a process where we identify a team of hilarity experts to act as mentors to new members with regular assesment against pre agreed performance measures. We would have a quarterly assesment where the community identifies humour shortcomings in order to allocate community resources to improve comic outcomes and take full advantage of skill synergies between members.

Or more nob gags. That'd probably work too.

My favourite community, everyone is allowed to have their own opinions and not get shouted at. There have been times when a troll would show but thankfully the mods here are good at what they do and will take care of it quickly. We are all a big family where we all love each other.

Except that Daystar Clarion guy, nobody likes him.
This exactly...Hey, wanna join my new No Daystar's group?

I've been a part of this community since...holy crap, in August I'll have been a member for four years!! Suffice it to say I love the community here and wouldn't have stuck around otherwise. My only problem is that you bastards have made me realize that I'm probably part of the Nintendo Defense Force...I was a sleeper agent! How is that MY fault!?!

nah; I love you guys...remember when Extra Credits left and shit got crazy for a week? That was some crazy stuff...Glad we got Jim instead.

Literally can't see myself having meaningful interaction with any other forum, to be honest.

Honestly don't get the drama when gender...exists in any way on this forum. Beyond that, I like how most topics are handled. It feels like two sides can coexist on most issues.

Pretty different to my usual regular community, so much so that the people there tend to hate this place.

I like it for it's ability to talk about a lot of different things, expressing a ton of different opinions about it, without feeling like there's a cloud of self-righteousness over it all. Some buzz words make me cringe hard, though.

May need a better sense of humor, though.

Overall I enjoy the community. I'm sure I'm on a few people's ignore lists and considered one of the retards in this community but that's alright.

I mostly enjoy lurking and sometimes giving my opinion when I'm more interested than usual. Gotta say I don't like the 'debating' on this site very much. I've learnt so many ways to say "Fuck you, your opinion is wrong and you're a dumbass for thinking so" in nice mod friendly words than anywhere else so I guess that's something.

I don't find this site very intellectual though. About the same as any other forum except we weed out the trolls. Which is a shame because I personally believe trolls are fun to deal with. Oh and Strawman. Can't forget using that word at least 100 times in any argument.

Generally good, intelligent people that are a bit pedantic sometimes (this whole objective/subjective stuff. Stop it). That said, we're no where near as haughty as we used to be, and there's less people with 'issues'.

As a whole, it's okay. Half of the community is great and usually have fun things to talk about, the other half has a tendency to be ridiculously elitist.
Love the good side of the community, but the other side can make the forums a really aggravating place to be sometimes.

I still enjoy the place though. Hence me still being here to grace you wonderful, wonderful people.

I think there's plenty of assholes, plenty of good people, plenty of assholes pretending to be good people, plenty of good people pretending to be assholes. That sometimes the assholes act good, and the good people sometimes act like assholes. So in other words, it's just like every other community, if better balanced.
Just like all humans, we're a varied bunch of assholes.

We certainly have an annoying habit of rehashing old threads on gun control, sexism, are-games-art and other such threads, but it's overall a cool place. The best forum I've found so far on teh internet, and one I'm glad to be a member of.
I also quite like that we have a relatively international audience with less than half our members hailing from the land of guns and freedom, and a good number of members outside the Western world.

My big gripe with the forums is the over abundance of riduculous "discussion" about various social issues. (Right now, mostly sexism related). When people are unable to have civil discussions of these issues 90% of the time face to face, on the internet its just simply hopeless.

But whenever the community climbs up from that pit of agonizing, whining, overall terrible shitsauce, I see plenty of entertaining/thought provoking threads about gaming and more.

...

I just wish all feminism/sexism/gun control/tipping/etc. threads were thrown into the blazing fire of Religion and Politics, so we could have a new, beatiful and pure age of offtopic.

I find it an okay place.
As much fun as it is to have interesting conversation about video games, a majority of it just turns into crap and people arguing about useless topics. I get it, there are some serious issues to talk about, some including games, and some not.
But, at the end of the day, games are supposed to be fun. Some have deeper meanings, but, as long as you've had fun while playing the game, it served its purpose.
Of course, the only other online community I can say I'm "part of" is sparse posts on /tg/, which is mediocre.
