No more planet scanning, that was very annoying. Terrible, terrible idea. Bring back that rover thing.

Also, more metal things need to happen. This one has to be so much more darker than it's predecessors since it is the end, and since all the Reapers are here. More blood, more deaths, and a giant climactic battle with the whole known galaxy participating, not just Shepherds party taking the hit.

I recruited nearly all the characters in ME2 then 360 deleted my save files and I only restarted it yesterday. I'm finding it incredibly depressing. The universe is so overwhelmingly dark, I don't remember the first one being this relentlessly bleak. It also seems shorter (the 3 games together will be about the same length as a normal RPG) and more of a shooter than an RPG.

I think the shooting mechanics are terrible, just the same as gears of war, nothing reacts to being shot and everything takes a ton of bullets. Shooting should either be realistic (e.g. cod) or fun (e.g. unreal tournament), but this is neither. The abilities aren't fun to use. I really do love the universe though, and the cultural zeitgeists (e.g. Asari needing another species to breed with is a smart interesting idea) and characters but I really don't like the gameplay or map design. It's pretty clear Bioware excel only at creating great characters, dialogue interactions and plot, and everything else in the game (world, gameplay) suffers.

I'm sure a lot don't agree but I'd like ME3 to be more focused on interesting society interactions/quests (i.e. what Bioware is good at) and less on boring linear combat sections. The societies are really too small when that's the only good thing in the game.

I'd like to see it become more interactively immersive. Combat is the only interactive thing in the game other than the plot/dialogue. Hacking is a really basic puzzle, nowhere near as interesting or fun as what other games are doing with those now common little things e.g. ratchet and clank series. I'd like to see it take influence from GTA or FF, and have a plethora of interactive things. A golden saucer type area would be amazing. Or a card game you can play throughout the universe, with different species having variations on the rules to keep it interesting. Or radio stations to listen to during the boring combat sections. Some type of galactic racing competition instead of the boring planet scanning.

Instead of the crappy love scenes they could have dating like GTAIV where you chat and play minigames or do events and actually interact with the great characters they've created. They could create something like the internet parody in GTAIV to expand the universe instead of the tedious codecs. They could have TV stations giving news updates along with the plot.

The reason they wont do any of this is because it's too expensive. GTA IV is the most expensive game ever made afaik, and the FF series has abandoned interactivity outside of battle gameplay because of costs. Maybe it's unfair to expect more from it when games like gears of war and call of duty get away with just combat, but it's perfectly designed to have a deeper universe. We have enough shooters, mass effect offers a great universe of creativity but it's just another generic shooter at the heart of it. A lot of players seem to prefer just having combat which I think is dulling the creativity of the game industry. People actually think GTA IV is over-rated because it doesn't have enough explosions and is too serious despite being the funniest game ever made by far and having an unrivalled immersive city.

I expected ME2 to improve on ME1, and offer more to do but it seems it's just following the usual direction of sequels these days of offering the exact same as the first game, just with a face lift and new plot. Ratchet and Clank have basically done this 6 times in a row and I wont be buying any more of their games unless they do something different. ME series has great writers, but mediocre game designers.

What I want:

-More biotic charge
-Better biotic effectiveness on enemies with protection/at high difficulty levels
-Resolution of ME1 love interest
-Resolution of Liara's grudgematch with the Shadow Broker. She was scary mad about it. I worry about her
-Female models that aren't human, asari, or quarian
-Same-sex romance option(s)
-Avoid ME2's Legion mistake - awesome teammate you can't get until the end of the game
-More Gianna Parasini. "I love nailing asari. So ageless and superior - then you get them, and they squeal like schoolgirls." - had me nearly cackling with glee. Explore implied relationship with her/Shiala
-Wrex

Husband Elcor: Feigning Ignorance. What brownies?

Everybody Loves Elcor will return after these short holo-ads

I'd like to see more tempting renegade options. I mean, I have problems being anything but paragon or default good in most games, but I couldn't resist a couple renegade options, like tasing that guy working on the gunship to be used against Garrus in 2. Palatable evil options to draw me over to the dark side.

Bioware announced on the Mass Effect 2 website DLC that supposedly involves teaming up with Liara to get revenge on the Shadow Broker, so no waiting for ME3 to resolve that.

I want to see an actual RPG with an actual story. Like ME1 had.

I swear the story for two would have filled about ten pages of a novel, and without all the repetitive battles in slightly differing locals that make up two missions per character that game would have topped out at three hours long.

Shit to Hit The Fan, Mass Effect is designed to be a trilogy, so Mass Effect 3 is going to tie it all together, so shit is going to go crazy. Are the Reapers going to make there entrance? I don't know, but I hope they do, at least to some point. That means almost everything that the galaxy knows will change, and it will set up many of the other things I want to see.

Familiar Faces, I want everyone back. I would love to see everyone(thats still living) available for a squad member. Thats from both games, Ashley, Wrex, Garrus, Thane, everyone! It would be freaking awesome, and the doomsday scenario caused by the Reapers return would make everyone make sense, Liara would not exactly be doing much brokering if galactic society was falling apart. I doubt the Alliance would deny Ashley from joining Shepard, and Wrex would almost definitely fight with Shepard with the rest of Urdnot behind him. The list goes on and on, it would be very easy story wise to have damn near everyone back that isn't already dead.

A New Ship, I think it would be pretty cool if Shepard was given a new ship. The Normandy SR2 took quite a beating in Mass Effect 2, and depending on your upgrades, it might not be quite fit for duty, and with the new evidence, it would quite easy to get a ship from the Council or the Alliance. Of course it would have to be some top of the line experimental craft, maybe a new Cruiser? Not essential, but it would be nice.

Continuing and New Romances, In the first game I chose the romance option with Ashley, the character appealed to me more than Liara, and more than any of the female Mass Effect 2 characters as well, so I did not use the romance option in that game because I knew that the romance would Ashley would be back in the third title, and I wanted the story to go like that. So I really hope that romances will be continued with all characters, and new ones would be quite good as well.

Huge Battles, If there is going to be some kind of Reaper invasion or something of the like, that means that there can be no denying, and all the species will fight. That means there may be huge battles on the ground and in space, so it would be nice to be able to participate in them.

Bring Back Some RPG Elements, I would love to see Bioware find the middle ground between what they used in Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2. Maybe reintroduce weapon mods that are not treated as a combat power? A greatly expanding the armory from ME2, but not as many as ME1 would be a big improvement. . I would also like to see more areas that were like Noveria where many choices and paths could be taken, as well as having the great combat segments from ME2. The small details go on.

Speaking entirely for myself I'd like to see the game return more to it's RPG roots. An enhancement of Mass Effect 1, rather than a continuation of Mass Effect 2 engine wise, since ME 2 turned it into a glorified shooter.

As much as I would like to see radically differant events based on previous game desicians, I think that would involve too much programming, not to mention making the game unapproachable to new players hopping in at the end. While I personally wouldn't mind, I can't see Bioware being able to do it either from a production standpoint, or a financial standpoint since they don't exclusively call the shots anymore even if they are left alone on the work itself and the penny pinches are probably going to insist that the game not be entirely dependant on the previous ones for enjoyment.

When it comes to obtaining minerals, I think Mass Effect 1 had the right idea with the Mako. The problem was that there wasn't enough to do on the planets except look for minerals and such, there was very little there. Like many people wanted to see more developed planets, not see the entire idea scrapped.

I'd also like to see some more varied character models, I find it slightly annoying for example that there seems to only be one graphic for a Volus, yet they appear to be everywhere.

For that matter I've kind of wondered why all Volus seem to be wimps. I mean they seem fairly clever and while I can understand why they haven't mounted a serious military given the way their society is organized, I cannot figure out why none of them seem to be building weapons into their suits, or turning them into powered armor. Heck, for that matter I couldn't figure out why the Quarian marines weren't using exoskeletons either.

They probably will, Master Chief's face is never shown so players could always be the man behind the helmet, but this is not the case with Tali.

I do not agree with you.
First of all, +1.

Second, just on game mechanics, i'd like to see some sort of economic trade system, i.e. trade resources for credits and vice versa, or trade one resource for another. Personally, the only thing that infuriated me about the game was having 100,000+ units of palladium, and having to planet-scan just for 500 more Element Zero. You'd think that in all our futuristic genius, someone would've thought of a way to keep the stock market going...
