Really, REALLY don't like sudden escort missions.

Also mostly everything multiplayer. Few things make me feel as nihilistic as most players online. They're just... complete morons. And I wouldn't hate online multiplayer NEARLY as much if people online were just less... dumb. And backed off when more casual gamers (like me) want to just have fun.

Fake difficulty. I don't mind games where the challenge is fair. If I die because I screwed up, that's fair. I need to learn the game. What I can't stand is games where I lose either because of something that I have no way of preparing for, other than to know it is there (trial and error gameplay), or where I lose because the computer is just automatically better than me, and can cheat on a whim (Fuck you Shao Kahn and being able to just ignore knockback from any attack I do if you feel like it).

Edit: Oh, and escort missions if the only way to win is to protect someone who is either a total idiot who walks into every enemy, or has the approximate damage absorption of tissue paper. If an escort mission is done well, as in Resident Evil 4, that's fine.

That for some reason is that many game developers/ game publishers feel the need to constantly broaden the audience of there games. usually i have no problem with this if its a new ip but when you take a already existing game franchise and then proceed to water it down so it can appeal to everyone and basically giving a huge finger to the loyal fan base of the game. a good examples could be dragon age 2, mass effect 2-3(special case), dead space 2-3, guitar hero, etc.

This. So hard. I was playing Tales of Vesperia with a good friend of mine. This scenario happened because she kept dying on the second, solo part of a two-part boss fight (she had first player control, so the solo part was all her). There were multiple cutscenes interspersed within. She died four different times.

Other than that...

Difficulty that doesn't seem legitimate. I'm fine with dying because I screwed up. I'm not so fine if I died because you unfairly stacked the tables against me, or expect me to use techniques that you never adequately explain how to use.

I guess that, barring experiences with other players online (I don't blame the game for that), it would have to be poorly-implemented online DRM. Stuff like UPlay, GFWL - all that unnecessary crap that seems to only exist to hock you DLC you don't want and break down on a daily basis to prevent you from playing the game.

It's especially ridiculous because I buy all - I mean all - my games through Steam whenever possible, so there's already a DRM system in place. But Ubisoft and Microsoft insist on tacking their own bullshit, totally redundant client in place, and then have the temerity to tell me that I don't have an internet connection when their shitty goddamn servers collapse.

Jesus Christ, just typing about it is making me angry.

Any developer who so much as thinks these words earns my eternal hatred.
"Look at all that juice!"

I both hate and love the party system on xbox live,on one hand me and my friends dont have to put up with annoying people any more, on the other hand its almost completely destroyed communication in teams unless your party is the entire team.

i remember when you could have really well organised teams in Halo (of all things) when playing something like CTF and the team communicating did a fantastic job, now its a disorganised mess save for maybe 2 or 3 people talking where the other team cant hear you.

but as i said before i wont be hearing any stupid people so i cant decide whether i like it or not

When there are crates & barrels that cannot be opened or smashed.

Unexpected steep difficulty curve out of the blue.

Open PvP & killstealing in MMOs.

When the next installment of a franchise retcons a bunch of stuff because they can't be assed to stick with continuity.

Degenerate fanart.

The way publishers treat development teams.

I really don't like list-inventories in RPGs
TES4, TES5, FO3, FO:NV and ME
What happened to good inventory screens
I often said- my favorite inventory system was in NWN
It was space AND weight limited (plus items had different size)
NWN inventory+ability to flip items by 90* (like in DE:HR)=perfect inventory

I like to think of X-2 as "Yuna's Angels", the adventures of three babes bopping around the world fighting evil. It's either that or "X-2: It's Better Without Tidus".
Don't you dare calling THAT game X2!!!
FFX2 yes, but NOT X2.
Name X2 is already taken by a much better game
THIS GAME

Honestly, it's not so much games these days as it is gamers.

I fucking hate the way a lot of gamers act these days.
YES! A thousand times yes. Games aren't a problem, it's the way some gamers act that pisses me off

I'm sick of most gamers being incredibly ignorant about how businesses work. I'm sick of the popular publishers (Ubisoft, EA, Activision) being the ones pissing about piracy, while publishing games that get shittier and shittier with each sequel. I'm sick of developers trying to make a in-depth universe through sequels instead of a single, well-written game. I'm sick of indie developers making a game about one single gameplay element, and trying to build a three hour game around something that gets boring after fifteen minutes. I'm sick of rumours spreading faster than facts about next-gen consoles. I'm sick of the focus on graphics instead of story/gameplay.

To be honest...I'm getting pretty fuckin' sick of the entire gaming industry.

Brown being equated to "Realistic".
Look outside your window.
Unless you live in a desert, you probably didn't see a great deal of fucking brown.

Shitty checkpoints.
I should NEVER have to play a sequence that I have already beaten. Hell, if the current sequence is long enough I shouldn't have to start from the beginning.

Unfair, unintroduced mechanics. Hmmm.. Boss is raising his left arm.. *running away* [SLAM]. Everything in melee range dies.

Hmm... Boss is raising his left arm... *running away* [SLAM]. Everthing NOT in melee range dies. How the fuck should I know this!?

Also rude gamers. And gamers who think they are so much better than everyone else. You are not.

The word 'noob' used as an insult enrages me. It is caused by an ugly form of exclusion.

Console exclusives. I'm gonna have to fork over Over 400e just to play the new Monster Hunter, sure there are more games coming out on the WiiU that I'm gonna want to play. But wouldn't it be easier if all games were available on all consoles? They could just utilize each console's peripherals.

-Dark Souls fans that are also elitist. I stopped playing that game because of them. And because it employed false difficulty.
-The fact that COD has ruined all subsequent FPS games. See BF3.
-Story based DLC. Unless it's an entirely new story (like GTA4 and RDR) I refuse to support that shit.
-Lack of an autosave function in JRPGs. I tend to get really into them when I'm playing and forget to save... Then a power failure just happens to occur when I've beaten a really hard bit. I'll admit that this one is mainly due to my incompetence.
-Stupid minigames/side things that you are forced to do. Zombie Baseball in Lollipop Chainsaw is just gyrating. Also those 2 bits (Motorcycle and missle riding) in Bayonetta that go on for way too long.
