Honestly, it's not so much games these days as it is gamers.

I fucking hate the way a lot of gamers act these days.
This pisses me off the most about gaming. Not just with how vile some people can be with their vocabulary, but also just their behaviour within the game.
Grand Theft Auto IV's free mode is usually just people killing each other over and over. Sure, it's fun when my friends and I stock up on ammunition, find somewhere to bunker down and defend ourselves until we're bored, but sometimes we just want to drive around, have a chat with a person on the other side of the planet and just chill. Deathmatch is there for a reason.

Aside from that little rant, save points should be abolished. No, they should be illegal. I can see no feasible reason that we should have to travel to a fixed point in a game just to go and eat dinner which, by the time we save and turn the console off, is cold.[footnote]Too specific an example? ^.^[/footnote]
I can see that maybe they figure that if there's a save point, the player won't be in conflict when saving so they can't save just before a death and then have the game unwinnable, but you could disable saving in the middle of fights or just trust the player into not making that mistake.

For me, it would have to be the whole concept of DRM, Politicians vs the video games industry scene that we see a lot these years and DLC.

Firstly, DRM:
When I buy a game I want to play it, period.
I don't want to install any additional programs like U-Play or Origin.
I don't want to open another account and memorize another password for nearly each game that I purchase.
I don't want constant internet connection to play games with a solo-experience single-player like Diablo 3.

Secondly, Politicians vs the video games industry:
It's pathetic to see how the older and somewhat naive minds of politicians see certain video games and their associated violence as this scapegoat. A free card to pull out and use for almost every time something terrible happens.

One hour after I head about the unfortunate and tragic school shooting in Connecticut, this thought suddenly came to mind: "So which game is it going to be this time: Mass Effect 3? Call of Duty Black Ops 2? etc."
I gave them 24 hours to come up with a twisted way to connect the issue with video games and they did it in less then 12.

But annoying as it is, I do believe that the political bashing will stop one day when enough people get this into their heads:
It's not what we do in our free time for personal joy that determines how we will end up living and what we end up doing. It comes from what we chose to take, or not take, from our parents. What we experience in our environments growing up, education and friends.

As for the DRM solution. Well I do hope to see more companies take the no DRM approach like CD Projekt:RED. They understand that treating your costumers as potential thieves is a bad way to conduct business. It's hard to build a cooperative and happy community for your game when, before playing it, the game asks you to prove that you bought it.
I want to see sites like GOG.com host AAA titles as well. But that move will never happen as long as major development companies decide to stick to the current DRM model.

Lastly, DLC:
While the model proves beneficial I would still prefer to see the older model of Expansion Packs return.
DLC's don't pack enough content for me to spend money on them. But expansion packs usually offer nearly half a game in them if not even more,(I am thinking of Warcraft 3 The Frozen Throne).

Nevertheless, good post Leemaster777.
Cheers.

Stunlocking.

This is more aimed at developers (Blizzard and BioWare in particular) who feel the need to pack their games with so much crowd control. Mages in WoW and Bounty Hunters in SWTOR are the most obnoxious with this. Some classes have about 50 stuns, roots, and snares available to them that barely any other class can stand up to them.

The worst part is that a player?s only way to break these stuns only works once and is on a long cooldown, meaning that it?s effectively useless.

It's not fun to lose a fight to another player simply because they can render you incapable of fighting back.
This. It's what turned me off PvP in both of those games, although SWTOR's stun break CD is only a minute and to my pleasant surprise there's a skill that lets the Sith Inquisitor's Force Speed ability count as a stun break too. That said, it's still annoying.

More recently I have a renewed hate for teamkillers, partly because they're multiplying like germs and there doesn't seem to be any way of discouraging their behaviour. Starcraft 2, for those who aren't aware, has a ranking system based on wins and losses to higher/lower ranked players, so every loss can result in a demotion. But these guys don't care. They turn on you for the sole enjoyment of knowing they've made you quit in a huff (and are usually quite annoying in chat too). As a result they are more frequent in the lower leagues, likely turning new players off the game. Same for MOBAs.

instant hit kills that you cant do anything about are just lame, its fine if they do a massive charge up or they say something or i can cancel it, thas fine, but if its an instant attack with NOTHING you can do ie: sniper riles in cod (fuck you quick scopers, its not impressive anymore) screw that crap

Unless you live in a desert, you probably didn't see a great deal of fucking brown.
I live in the desert. It's more yellow and orange than brown.
Still an enraging thing.

Stealth sections in non-stealth games. Specifically when you get a game over if you are detected.

I am looking at you Hotline Miami

Obviously all the rage and BM from teammates in online games, but there's a particular sort that sticks out to me. Say you've played a really close match; maybe you've been behind for most of the game. Then through a combo of some good teamwork, a bit of individual skill, and maybe a bit of luck, you find yourself breaking through and winning at the end. At this point your team is applauding one another, saying stuff like "close one", "great game", "well played everybody" and the like. Then you get to the combined chat room after the match, and what do you find? The enemy team are all raging at one another. Sometimes you'll even get requests to report people for feeding. And you can only think, it was a close match; both teams played pretty well. That guy on the other team that was "feeding"; maybe his deaths were the result of some good team-plays from your side. What really gets me is that it's kind of taking away from your victory. It's saying that you didn't win because you played well, you won because of the opposing team played poorly.

So yeah, lack of sportsmanship.

No. The common player was, is and will always be disguisting. Public servers/gaming (or even worse, the inability to play privately at all) is one of the worst things in the WORLD.

My heart fills with rage over a lot of things. Let's see...
I hate 'difficult' games or areas in games where you progress by dying and memorizing what killed you so you can avoid it the next time. Limbo, I'm looking at you here. Putting a black trap on a black piece of ground in front of a black background isn't being clever, it's just being a dick.

Whether you want to call it games becoming more casual or not, I hate that many of them are certainly becoming easier. I can accept it if I'm no longer the target market, but there's still a big problem from where I'm standing when I find countless screenshots from Dead Space 3 players on hard difficulty showing inventories literally filled with health packs.

I hate the generation of children we allowed to be raised by xbox live. It's time for a culling.

I hate that games have to be designed to sell now, rather than designed to be fun. Sure, it's a business, but don't expect a quality product when it's treated like any other commodity, by people whose only qualifications are MBAs and are interested in adding features to show they're involved, rather than adding features that make sense or are fun from a design perspective.

I hate fans who blindly love or hate developers or titles and 'fight' for or against them on forums. Microsoft may charge too much for their quality checks on live updates, but Phil Fish most certainly read the contract and knew what he was signing up for, and trying to lay the entirety of the blame for Fez' fuck up on microsoft was cheap.

I hate Modern Warfare 2 on the PC. Why the fuck did I preorder it and pay not one bit of attention to information about dedicated servers and all the other pc downgrades from COD 4?

Nexon. Just Nexon...

And ranked league of legends.

Just those two. Just fix the two of those and I won't kill anyone next time.

I gotta agree with some of the above sentiments. "Difficult" games where basically you have to battle difficult controls or memorise several moves directly to proceed. That's not fun its just bloody honing a sequence of events, you might as well play quicktime event based games. Bad difficulty curve design is also one of the crimes worthy of hate, seriously Farcry (1) i steamroll through the whole game until the last couple fo levels where everything pretty much instagibbs me? - c'mon... Also deadspace 2 - being left without bullets before the final fight and no where to loot for ammo...

Also rude people on the internet.

In Persona 3/4 I will be grinding for like 6 hours and not save and then some dickhead weak monster will just gank the crap out of the MC and I will have wasted all that time. I've learned from this one but damn it's annoying.

Condisending toturials, recently I was at a friends house who had CoD Black Ops 2 and I wanted to try a bit of the campaign mode so I started up the first mission, there was one part where I had to stealth my way around some enemies by crawling through some tall grass and what not. The first time I was supposed to sneak a press B to crouch prompt showed up which I didn't mind too much since it's trying to teach new players the game mechanics, but the game felt it was nessecary to repeat the prompt 3 or 4 times at each spot where I had to hide. I think developers feel their games are being played solely by chimpanzees or something because I'm fairly certain that once someone sees a one button prompt it's safe to assume that they won't instantly forget it within the ten seconds you tell them the prompt again.

Unskippable cutscenes on their own do not bother me. When you get one right before a difficult part of a game, and the checkpoint/save is just before the cutscene begins, that is unforgivable.

Multiplayer objective based games when your team never tries to complete the actual objective (capturing the flag for example.) This is even more infuriating when most games have the choice to play game-modes purely about killing anyway. So if people don't want to capture flags or take bases, nobody is even forcing them to play that mode.

Fake difficulty. Enemies using the same weapons as you should deal the same damage as you. Increasing difficulty should not miraculously change how much damage an enemy can give out or take. It should change the way the game is played, or increase the likelihood of an enemy using a more powerful weapon and so on.

Also people saying "Wii-U is a failure" Oh yeah, because it selling several million units in the span of a few weeks is awful.
This. Was there a law passed that requires everyone to be negative about the Wii U?Because that's how it seems.3 million sales in it's first 6 weeks(and that's not counting Jan and Feb sales so it's undoubtably more now)is pretty good and comparees very favorably to other console launches yet the way everyone's talking you'd think it had only sold half a dozen units

OT:Boss Battles. This is one that's been annoying me for a while because it seems like most devs don't know how to make an interesting/fun boss fight.I genuinely can't remember the last time I finished a boss fight and said "that was cool"

Unnecessary bullshit that only pads the game. I don't mean stuff like useless side quests or stuff like that. I mean like when they throw a boss at you and you prove your skills against it, only for them to make you fight it again. I ALREADY DEFEATED IT, I ALREADY BEAT THAT CHALLENGE. Or, alternatively, just forcing you to sit through boring shit that adds nothing and breaks the flow completely, like that stupid job in Super Paper Mario for the Wii or those horrible cutscenes to Dante dramatically looking up and smiling while a new wave of enemies appear on the new DMC.
Halo 4 was particularly bad about that. That campaign would've been three hours long (maybe four on legendary) if not for all the "push three buttons" eight times a level bullshit.

Games that are nothing but endless set-pieces and cinimatics with only monotonous shooting in between. I don't even know how these things can be classified as games anymore, since there is no 'game' to be hand anywhere here.

Enemies with rocket launchers.

Insta-kills that aren't easy to block or dodge.

Poorly designed game mechanics.
