WW2 still has a lot of unexplored videogame potential, it's just a specific part of it that has been done to death... The Allied European offensive in 1944-45, that is. Or, put another way, everything before the Western Allies and Soviets started winning against the Axis is ignored... While for many reasons, that earlier part was the more interesting one.

And quite frankly, they had their chance with WW2 shooters, I'm not giving them any more. They had the african theatre, Australian, Auschwitz, but I saw none of that. I'm not buying more titles.
Uh... I'm a bit afraid to ask, but... How do you make an
Auschwitz-based shooter?
EDIT: I wasn't making a completely tasteless joke here, I seriously don't think the Holocaust is a subject for a videogame.
Back on topic now... I think the Tomb Raider franchise needs a merciful bullet in the head. I always enjoyed the games, but it has literally been done to death and it's probably time to let it go and make space for more original games.
Also, the "Prince of Persia" series, revamped once more - do we really need it? The first two games are fondly remembered, the third was never made. The Sands of Time trilogy deserved the critical acclaim, and successfully transferred the concept into a new environment. But this time around, it feels like a dead horse is being beaten.
I have conflicting feelings about the "Command & Conquer" games. All of them have been good so far, but recently - especially with RA3 - it seems like it's rapidly going down and will fall below the "good" line soon.
As to which games need to be brought back to life? "Albion", for a compelling storyline. "Beyond Good & Evil", for sheer enjoyment (although a sequel's in the works, so...). And the "Settlers" games from before S3 came about.
Oh, and "Majesty". Can't think of any game utilizing the same great concept. "Hinterland" was kinda close, but still not it.
