I'm a really mediocre gamer in terms of dexterity. I'm much more of a strategist, carefully reasoning out the path of least resistance so I can maximise the skill I have. However, there was an old PS2 game called Amplitude, which was the predecessor of the Guitar Hero games, and for some reason I was alarmingly good at it. As in, ripping off high-scoring combos in the hardest mode, on the hardest tracks, while the room was full of distractions. I've never been able to transport those moves over to other games for some bizarre reason.

I'm adding myself to the list of Fire Emblem experts. Seems to be quite a few of us.

I guess I would consider myself an expert at the Assassin's Creed games, not the multiplayer, but I know all of the lore both in and around the games with a ridiculous amount of knowledge

Unreal Tournament, anyone who says what's that? You haven't lived.
What? J/k. That game is pretty great. I wish more shooters were like that. I could never say I was good at it though. I only made it past eh first round in a tournament with friends.

There are no games I would consider myself an expert in. I am pretty bad at games.

Planescape: Torment. I have played and re-played that game so many times I can probably play it in my sleep. Although this is less a "mastering a game"-thing than it is a "Re-reading a favorite novel that happens to be a videogame"-thing.

I'm pretty good at Hidden: Source, if I do say so myself.

I've been playing the game since just after it's debut and was always pretty good anyway but since the huge wave of new players caused by the Youtuber Seananners I have achieved veritable god status often exceeding 40-50 kills to 0-2 deaths.

I try to be nice and make it a more cinematic experience by taunting and throwing props about but sadly a lot of these servers put such time restrictions on them (often about 3 minutes per round) that I have no choice but to kill everyone as fast as possible, I can't actually imagine many regular players doing it in such a low time limit so it doesn't make much sense to me to restrict it so low.

Third-person-shooters are my games. I'm in the top 300 in Gears of War 3 TDM, have a 4.3 overall K/D and 3.5 W/L, and I'm pretty decent with all weapons with a preference for rifles. I've been playing each game since day one, which was 7 years ago.

I'm pretty awesome at the Mass Effect games as well. I haven't heard every single snippet of dialogue like I'm sure others have, but I have a few hundred hours in the series and multiple playthroughs of different classes. I'm proficient at the combat and can clear multiplayer games on Platinum without using a Geth Juggernaut.

I think I'm drawn to these games because you almost always have a fighting chance. If 2 people blindside you in Gears, you can still kill them if you maneuver and time your shots well. In a game like Halo or Battlefield, you're pretty hosed.

Team Fortress 2 most likely, played competitively for about a year and got to division 3 in ETF2L,after that I sort of lost interest I suppose.Still,I used to DM every day for an hour or two(more on the weekends) and for me the game started to be more of a chore than anything,if you wanted to be good you had to put in way too much time - time I did not have.

And Monster Hunter.

Christ,I played that for a while a few years back.Never got THAT far maybe to like 5-star levels but I played it for so long during the day, looked up gamefaqs during the night so I've lost quite a bit of time there.

Tekken. I can choose a random character, figure him out in hour, and have a pretty solid understanding of what he can do. Stuff like mix-ups and frametraps. this really helps with picking new characters, because I can see fast if a character has any potential and is fun to play.

Well, I recently beat Mario 2 in 20 minutes. So maybe that? I used to be really good at LTTP, 100% the game in a couple of hours several years ago. Did the same for Ocarina. Hell I used to be so good at that, I got through the whole game and only got hit 6 times. I've got a good amount of knowledge on FF6 and Chrono trigger. I do know the ins and outs of Mass Effect 2 though. I am damn good at Mario World though. I can 100% that game with trouble on only one level (Tubular....fuck tubular). So I guess Mario World. I'm not too good at modern games.

Like it says on the tin, what game or game series do you think of yourself as an expert at?
Rome Total War. Certainly expert against the AI, and reasonably good against other players.

Though tbh I'm better at the campaign strategy rather than the battles themselves - deficit based zerg rushing in the early game with disposable medium infantry hordes and experienced half-stack cavalry armies usually nets me victory long before the Marian reforms (one campaign I took the entire map before the Marian reforms). And knowing all the little tricks helps as well:

-sending spies to plague cities and then to any of your cities that are overpopulated and to all your enemies
-attacking your own walls when defending them from siege towers so that the falling masonry destroys the tower with loads of enemy troops inside it
-exploiting the wall AI to win in sally battles
-properly exploiting river crossings and mountain passes
-repeated enslave/extermination cycles for particularly rebellious cities
-going for big cities first so that you take them before they hit 'huge' status and are immune to cultural conversion
-ignoring enemy armies in favour of taking their cities
-always having siege gear with your invasion armies but never with your flying columns
-always having your armies on enemy territory so that they're helping damage the enemy even if they're just blocking a strategic pass or whatever

Getting between 5-1 and 10-1 casualty rations against a matched battle AI (sometimes going up to 20-1 if I have an optimum army for fighting that particular enemy) really takes it's toll on the campaign AI, and even on expert where they get massive boosts, you'll still win attritively if nothing else.

Though I have probably got a few thousand hours on the game, it's expansions, and the total conversion mods, so I don't have an excuse not to be very good!

Pokemon, I guess. I'm not nearly practiced or into the competative scene to claim to be an expert in competative multiplayer, but I'm pretty good at the singleplayer. Ditto with Fire Emblem.
Pun intended?

OT: I don't know, I tend to be good at gaming systems, so any RPG, I guess. Also, maybe Dynasty/Samurai Warriors, as I can handle Chaos with ease (harder if it's available).

Does playing Guitar Hero/Rock Band on Expert count? I don't always play GOOD, but I can play most instruments (even pro). actually, all instruments except drums, because my leg won't let me.

I'm pretty good at the Ace Combat series, I was ranked in the top 1000 in the world when Assault Horizon hit. So that is an accomplishment I guess.

Super Smash Bros Melee. I'm pretty fucking good at that too. I've won tournies with that game. Funny too, since I generally don't like fighting games.

I Was a pokemon expert up until black and white .

I was a diablo 2 expert until 2010

I was a WoW raid expert until Cataclysm .

Right now , while i wouldn't call myself an expert , i am really good at UMVC3 . Not pro level , but outside specific frame data , i know a lot about that game . Which you have to if you want to beat all those copycats that use the same characters are the pros .

Every Zelda game ever! I know the ins and outs of all the dungeons. I know how to get every heart piece, upgrade, gold skulltula, mask, poe soul, spirit gems, etc. With the crazy amount of times I've played the games it really isn't surprising at this point.

Honorable mention goes to Pokemon, I've caught them all(649) in Black version, I've played the main series games enough times to know too much about them. Although I am not very knowledgeable about competitive battling.

I'd have to say Pokemon.

I've replayed nearly all my handheld versions at least once and each time I tend to find a way to make the experience fresh, as well as a breeze to complete the Post Game achievements (i.e. complete PokeDex, unlock events, etc.).

I'm also a pro at Tetris. I don't play it as often as I did before, but I can still get into the groove of the gameplay very easily and get to a high level of difficulty.

I also want to the say the classic Sonic the Hedgehog series, as I've been able to speed run through most of the titles and collect all the Chaos Emeralds within the first few zones and become Super for the majority of the game.

I know every Halo's campaign before Reach (which like most 2010 games I've played, I've only completed once) like the back of my hand.

In Halo 3's multiplayer I'd call myself an expert, despite the fact that my rank isn't particularly high.
