What game genre should only be a console or PC exclusive?

In my opinion RTS games seem perfect only for PCs. I mean, Ive been playing RTSs since I was eight years old with good old age of empires 1 and after all these years they seem perfectly matched with the PC. Why would anyone make/port it to other platforms?? Remember starcraft on the PS? that was a failed endeavor wasn't it?

Hot-keys
There are only about 10-12 buttons on a standard controller for any console when RTS games clearly require more to hot-key units and buildings.

Micromanagement
This involves microing your units to attack those that are weak against it and to do this successfully you need to be up close and personal to the monitor, you could sit up close to the TV but that defeats the purpose of your console.

Other aspects as base building and resource gathering don't seem to affected though.

FPSs on the other hand seem better suited on consoles. Lets face it you need the 360 degree analog stick to strafe effectively or even just shoot whats behind you fast enough. I remember having so much difficulty playing quake and using the arrow keys to move around. You could just buy a USB controller, I have one too BTW, but why not just play it on your console in the first place?!?

RPGs seem adapted to both platforms. For instance Ive own Fable TLC on both xbox and PC. On the PC version i can hot-key like 10 spells and potions for quick access so i could cast spells one after the other or use potions on the fly. But on the console version i had better control with the analog stick, on the PC i sometimes ran out of room to move my mouse when taking on 10 enemies for instance. BTW a side note, Fable TLC didn't support USB controller or joystick. zzzzz

I guess game design would play a major role in this but still, to me some genres are just better off in the one platform. So all whats your opinion on this topic?

None of them.

Simple as that.

... Well, Zynga games can remain on the PC.

They better or else *menacing gesture*

However I think that for now RTS games should stay on the PC. That is until someone manages to make it really, really, really easy to control on a console.

I also think that it'd be easier for third-person action games (Devil May Cry) for example would be the opposite. Since I haven't ever played one of em on the PC but whenever I think about playing it (without a game controller thing) I just can't imagine an easy way.

RTS games need to stay on PC. This genre, to put it simply, was made specifically for the PC. I heard Halo Wars did an okay job, but this genre needs to stay on the PC.

Shooter titles also should primarily be on PC, since the Keyboard and mouse interface is much more intuitive than the controller, but it can still work for the console.

Beat 'Em Up and Fighting games should stay in the arcade and on consoles, however.

If everyone had every console I could think of many. This is however not the case, there's a lot of us who only has one, your suggestion would mean that people like me couldn't get games from certain genres.

There are many genres who are vastly better on either one though. RTS are better on PC. So are shooters (auto-aim and lack of PC shooter training is what makes you feel otherwise). Fighting games are better on consoles.

Ditto. Nothing is more annoying than being told you can't play a game because it isn't for your console.

I don't think they should be restricted, but there are some games I would only play on PC...

RTS: I don't even see how this would work on console. I tried the demo for LOTR:BFME, and I hated it. So randomly complicated.

FPS: I can't use the console for FPS games anymore now that I have a computer that can run Bad Company 2.

RPG: Maneouvering menus is so counter-intuitive on consoles.

On the other hand, Racing Games seem to work better on console, as do non-fps platform games.

EDIT: I think that console games should either stay on console or should get a proper PC port. Broken shit like Saints Row 2 is very annoying to play, and games like CoD:MW2 dumb down PC-gamers for other, more PC-oriented games, such as BC2.

RTS should stay on the PC, for reasons the OP has stated, and driving games should be exclusive to consoles.

Urm..

That's what every post in this thread is going to look like, more or less.
