I would love more stealth games like the Thief series because I prefer tactics over mindless running out and getting killed.
This. I have really started to like stealth based games recently.
Mhm, I know TF2 is a FPS but the spy class is like a stealth game in itself - very hard to master, but hella fun when you do.

More chess-esque RTS.

Also, all beat-em-ups, hack-&-slashes, and unstoppable-badass-murderfests need to disappear and never be developed again.

I'd like to see more Mech games like Mech Assault. I know some of them can be really complex but once you get the hang of it they are just so much fun.
Have you seen the Crysis Mech mod some people are working on? It's basically a MechAssault total conversion of Crysis.

I'd like to see more modern Battlefield games, not that WWII stuff. And actually, I really like Sci-fi shooters, so them too.
Battlefield 2142, Anyone?
Computer can't run it, if it was on a console, I would buy that shit soo fast.

As this is my 1000th post, I would just like to say, I really enjoyed my time here at the Escapist, and I look forward to spending my next 1000 posts with you guys. Cheers.

No 2-D shmup fans?

sad face

Give me games in the vein of Gradius(Gradius V was the sh!t), Ikaruga, R-type, and ESP RA DE. As for shmups like Smash TV, well, Live Arcade and PSN have plenty, like everyday shooter, SSHD, Geometry Wars, Heavy Weapon, and so on.

Actually, any game made in 2-D that isn't a downloadable would be great. Viewtiful Joe, Klonoa, and hell, even games like Braid and Cloning Clyde, only more ambitious in scope.

Is free running a genre now? if so, thats my choice, i spend the majority of my time in games that have something like a free running aspect (Like assassins creed) messing around, and improving my agile movement, then there are games like mirrors edge that focus entirely on it...i'd love to see more of these...i know some people call these games platformers, but its really different then most plat forming games...
OMG i so agree there! I loved assassains creed when it came out and i cant wait for the next one which is coming out this or next year im not sure! Also mirror's edge was pretty good too. They made that game to experiment with something new and it's kinda split people down the middle. Some people like and some people dont for there different reasons.

third person over-the-shoulder made specifically for the psp.

i have no idea why no one has tried this yet, using the psp's controls would work perfectly, just look at resident evil 4's controls on the ps2 and you'll see what i mean.

I'd like to see more First person adventure games. There are a couple already, the obvious one being the Myst series. However i really find that First-person view makes a much more immersive experience.

Either FPS RPGs (Halo could be one...) or just FPSs (that's not about WW2 or any war in previous history) in general as along as they don't suck...
Halo is just an FPS. It has pretty much 0% RPG elements.

Highly stylised/artsy games. Something like Flower, Braid, Everyday Shooter and Pixeljunk Eden. They are very relaxing compared to the majority of stuff that´s out there. I am very much hoping for port of 'The Path' for PSN (too experimental for the 360 Marketplace)

And there can never be enough stuff from Suda51

Don't worry, you are not alone, brother, I too love the shmup!

I want more Wild West games, I know thats a setting not a genre but you can work more than just a shooter into it, I mean look at Oregon Trail for pete's sake. Hell my friends thought of an MMO set in the old west were you didn't have to be a gunslinger, you could be a miner, saloon or shop keeper, rancher, Army, woman of ill repute, etc.

FPS with some RPG elements and a good story that suck you in ( like stalker but a better storyline and some fallout gameplay in it)

First person survival games where the emphasis is more on survival then shooting and every monster encounter is a desperate melee struggle.

I'd also still like to see this idea of mine: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.101807

Put into practise.

Said Vrex aware that he was shamelessly self promoting.
