MMOFPS, massive battlefields with squads, platoons, seige assauts on bases, different play styles, such as tactical stealth etc.
Basically more Planetside style games.

I second that multiplayer melee battles... like Braveheart meets eve online meets counterstrike in a totally non-setting, but gameplay kinda way

A real MMORPG: Player generated Quests, changable World, Complex Attributes and skills, danger of death, Player generated Content.

But no:
- let's make a game like WoW... but with different named classes and fewer things to do.
- You are a genius
(Ah well ok, it's the customers fault, at least partially)

Also great storytelling games. RPG, some RTS games; anything which does a few things different, maybe a bit more strange (More cyberpunk, or high fantasy or genre mixes)

RPG and RTS yes yes yes yes yes. halo wars was amazing but not enough buildings or units i think. it gets old pretty fast. also starcraft never gets old like for real its an amazing game. then oblivion and morrowing rock. so bring more pwease

Sci-Fi MMORPGS that aren't like EVE online. I hear that a WH40k one is being developed, and I pray weekly that they don't screw it up. If that comes out to just another level-grinder, then...yeah. It would suck very much.

Stealth games for me. I'm more than happy to spend a few minutes sneaking past a guard - its more fun, subtle and satisfying than just shooting him in the face and walking by.

I want to see a coop stealth game. Could potentially be awesome.
Although that does sound pretty cool it would all depend on who you would play with and what mechanics would be in it. E.G If one of you gets spotted do both of you get found and everyone runs after both of you or just the who who got spotted.
The 2nd option is preferable in my mind because it would add to the strategy of the game and working out who will go to the objective and who would lure all the baddies away from it.

Also how far can someone go away from the other player without hitting a certain range barrier like they do in some multi-player games would be another thing that would come into play.

As long as these mechanics and more make it fair for the player/s and dont just fuck you over then i'd be more than happy to see something like that be made and I for one would certainly play it.

Yeah I was thinking each person should just be able to go and do their own thing, no range barriers. If one person gets seen, the others are still safe but they have to be more careful.

Possibly if one of them is caught then they are taken away and interrogated. They then have the choice of ratting out their friends or else they could lose some experience or something like that so there is an incentive not to keep quiet. The other players could then also have the option of going to save the one who was caught.

The more I think about it the more awesome it sounds.

Freedom Fighters 2. Freedom fighters was one of the most enjoyable third preson squad based games i have come across, the ablilty to try and do thngs in a strategic manner was also a nice touch. so if they made a second one that would be awesome.

Or another Hitman game, they were nearly there with Blood Money, Just take the freedom of blood money and add some more levels and allow different ways to eliminate the target

Another vote for MMOFPS; I did enjoy Planetside for a short time but I would love to see a World War 2 one. There's such a massive scope for weapons, vehicles, battles etc. I have heard of World War 2 Online but I believe it's really old now and doesn't really have many subscribers.

Also another vote for Free Running, but has to be 3rd person...I'm looking at you DICE! :)

And, as per the Monkey Island news article, more adventure games!

A return to LucasArts adverture games would be awesome. Ive had a look at the strongbad adventures and similar ones by telltale but they dont really cut it. I reckon considering the popularity of netbooks and more specifically gaming on them its a good time to go back to the genre. Day of the Tentacle 2? hell yeah

Cross-genre games are of particular interest. Some mesh better than others, for example Deus Ex melds First Person Shooter with Roleplay very well whereas a mesh between Real Time Strategy and Stealth would require so much more work to achieve a worthwhile result.

Why bridge genres? It makes the game more complex. Production time and costs aside the industry would better apply itself to some audiences if it offered depth and elegance in more than just pretty graphics.

Damn, I didn't spot this. I love Hitman so would be great to see a new one. I believe they are working on one but it hasn't been officially announced. There's nothing like a bit of poison in a wedding cake or pushing someone into an open grave! >_>

I totally agree with everything you just said!! lol

They're all great ideas and the more I think about it, the more awesome it sounds. I like the idea about goin to save the caputered player. I think that would work well, but how many players would you have in a game?

At first i was thinking just 2 but now im thinking possibly upto 4. with each character being a different 'Class' or something like that with their own special talents so that the team has to work together and not just having one person running of and getting caught while the rest of you sit there planning a stragegy.
