Prince of Persia. I won't spoil it, but Yahtzee's description of it was spot on.

I'd say Fallout 3, but since they're about to release DLC that continues the story line after the ending I chose to withhold it from the most anti-climatic. And I also loved the ending, story wise.

MIRRORS EDGE! The first half of the game was awesome, you know when you were actually running?
But the second half blew so hard when I beat the last level and saw the ending I felt cheated. It was worse than Halo 2s ending!
This.
You reach the roof of a building with hundreds of soldiers still in it, kick a guy out of a helicopter, then you and your sister, hug, cue music, and it ends. It kinda implies that you get out, but since there were 3 guys with guns on the roof with you I'd guess that either you or your sister get killed at some point between the roof and the ground which is down like 200 soldier infested stories.

Well, at least the Fallout 3 ending will be replaced in the Broken Steel DLC, although its rubbish that they are making us pay for a real ending. I hope it will at least be good.
worst game ending, probably the Planscape: Torment Suicide ending( there were two suicide ending, one crappy and one strangely awsome)/

People here would seem to be really new to gaming since Fable 2 and Fallout 3 seem to take the top spots. Those games' endings aren't even close to half bad when considering...

Xenon 2
Halo 2
Myst
Syndicate

Some people shake their heads others need an explaination.

For me the worst ending ever was the ending to final fantasy VII. I played it before all the sequels that tell you what happens in-between, and that "300 years later" shit had me staring in enraged disbelief at the screen for a good while.

OK, Syndicate is right up there since it starts the credits when you kill the final enemy. I felt enormously cheated when I saw that back in the early 90's, but has since moved on.:p
Myst was also real bad and routinely makes lists of worst endings, the same way E.T. tops worst game lists. Its badness is part of gaming lore, much like Fallout 3 will be in 10 years:)
I saw it back in the day though, so I was there - but I never played E.T. so I can't fairly vote for it when asked about worst game of all time.
(Bringing E.T. up as an example is in fact pretty much like claiming you were at Woodstock.:)

Fallout 3 had the worst ending I can remember in a game, and I tend to play a lot of games. Even Fable 2's weakness was cooler than Fallout 3. That's what happens when your ending is made of poorely constructed, strung-together stills. WEAK!

Ya might want to put spoiler tags man...

EDIT: I have no idea how the hell I didn't see that. My bad :S.

Anyway my vote goes to Prince of Persia (spoilers following)... you basically undo everything you did in the game. Except it's one step worse because now Elika's father is dead. Absolutely ridiculous ending. It'd be like the Prince unleashing the sands again after reversing time in Sand of Time.
i was so sinical about that game i said from the start ... i said ang on anime style and instantly said with my freind sat next to me OMG THIS IS GONNA SUCK and hey i was wrong it also blew -_- 1 on 1 fighting awful grahics glitches out the arse and annoying girl whos ownly use is to be thrown at badys or to cum a garden of colour on a spot of light but the ending the ending was just just bad its the defenition of bad nothing else i can say nothing in it was good the final fight aswell was the worst ive ever done cause it was so dam glitchy

Medal Of Honor Rising sun for Gamecube, your brother vanishes or is captured by the Japanese and you never find out what happens to him.

prince of persia - you lock up the evil god and then release him after all your hard work for a chick
battlefield bad company - wraps up loose ends rather conviently and makes a cliffhanger..for what exactly?
halo 3 - every character you dont play as conviently dies before the game os over and you float in space... woohoo

also i liked assassin's creed's ending - it made me laugh at how they set up sequels (japanese + one of the few assassins left in the modern world)
CoD4's was ok - it showed your guys weren't really immortal even if it was a tad sudden (plus i see soap being in the new one perhaps)

Prince of persia definitely. Not only do they make you screw up everything you've done during the game but they have the gall to make it a huge cliffhanger. The description of the achievement for finishing the game is "but this is only the beginning..." seriously wtf.

Fable 2 probably. At least this the freshest, I just finished it. No end boss but that wasn't the worst part. It just leaves you watching. Very anticlimactic I must say. And Theresa? What's up with her? Is she the evil mastermind in the end or what?

*follows the popular cry*
fallout 3.

One of the biggest selling points of this game was 100+ hours worth of gameplay.
about 15 of those hours are story, the rest is "if you get bored, why not walk around that area"
To me thats just a horrible waste of game.
there is so much to explore, but no reason to. If they just made the wasteland about 10% smaller (lets be honest, removing any of that 'nothing' space they include alot of wouldn't do much to make things worse) they could have invested more time/money/resources to making a better story line which involves exploring the majority of the areas, leaving a few other hidden areas to check out and maybe more continuing quest lines then the main one, the survival guide book and talking to vampire wannabe freak things (which were pretty funny, however since it was taken so seriously... it just came across as creepy)

plus lets try the good example of a hardcore gamer.
"OH! theres 100 hours of gameplay! I shall play it all" one of two things happen
finish game before explore everything "wait... wheres the rest of my game?!"
finish EVERYTHING before finishing the game ".... this is my reward? being babysat by an army while a giant robot clears a path for me? why did I bother collecting this ammo if im not even going to use it?"
And for those who didn't know... if you get EVERY SINGLE possible ending for fallout 3 (good, bad, final choice, etc. all of them) and laid out every possible scenario back to back... you would get a slideshow that lasted about 8 minutes and 40 seconds.
100 hours work.... less then 10 minutes of reward, and it's not even that detailed. Pictures and liam neesan talking. That's all.]

edit: oh yes, and I forgot. A game THAT BIG and they refused to do open beta testing. A game that big they would have needed alot of beta testing. And that's pretty obvious they should have done it after seeing the story line and alot of the glitches (esp. on the ps3)
