People here would seem to be really new to gaming since Fable 2 and Fallout 3 seem to take the top spots. Those games' endings aren't even close to half bad when considering...

Xenon 2
Halo 2
Myst
Syndicate

Some people shake their heads others need an explaination.
OK, Syndicate is right up there since it starts the credits when you kill the final enemy. I felt enormously cheated when I saw that back in the early 90's, but has since moved on.:p
Myst was also real bad and routinely makes lists of worst endings, the same way E.T. tops worst game lists. Its badness is part of gaming lore, much like Fallout 3 will be in 10 years:)
I saw it back in the day though, so I was there - but I never played E.T. so I can't fairly vote for it when asked about worst game of all time.
(Bringing E.T. up as an example is in fact pretty much like claiming you were at Woodstock.:)
What's wrong with the ending of Myst?

Fallout 3 had a terrible and very anti-climactic ending.

After you beat Raven Rock you basically just watch Liberty Prime seige the monument, you kill a few unremarkable Enclave soldiers and then shoot Autumn in the head. Boring as hell, Where's my final boss? Where is my epic confrontation? No Master? No Frank Horrigan? What the fuck Bethesda, such a goddamn let down.

Fable 2. Definetly.

I also pick Ace Combat 6. You blow up a big cannon...and? I'm so looking forward to AC7, and I hope they do it right for a change, and not make it "bad guys invade, you kill them with a rocket." And why is it that every game in the series has some bull crap "fly through a tunnel to blow up the super weapon" segment. You would think such a design flaw would be noticed the first time some one pulled it off, and it would be quickly fixed(but pouring in cement or something) and ta-da, the nameless main pilot character smacks into a wall.

First off let me thank everyone who GAVE A NEW FUCKING OPINION instead of copy paste the last entry (fallout3 and shit). Come on God DAMN! i dont read forum's to practice my vocabulary. And i'm not talking about the ones who had something extra to say about
*previously mentioned game* to make that clear

anyway, from the few games i've actually completed (played and own a bathtube full of games but havent beaten 'em) Company of Heroes was blaah, but like someone said, you know the ending to wwii games. Fronlines: Fuel of War was pretty damn fun actually, up until the end if you can call it an end. just about all games with cliffhangers blow cock besides half-life 1. half-life 2 even sucked cause there was no ending to a 9 hour game we waited for 6 (or more) years for.

For me, Assassin's Creed. It's really just too damn abrupt.

They learn the locations of all the artifacts and just leave you in a room with a bunch of writing on it...great...and...*credits roll*....oh...BULLSHIT!!!

That was my reaction to it. I can't really say Fable 2 or Fallout 3, simply because...the way the rest of those games had been going, I honestly didn't expect anything epic. All of Fallout 3 was easy (to me anyway) and Fable 2...well...I was disappointed with that when the beginning was pretty much copy-pasted from the first one.

An honorable mention goes to The Force Unleashed though...yeah, you fight the Emperor, but you never actually kill him...Then why the hell do we fight him in the first place? Seriously, I always disliked games that had you fight bosses you never got to kill (or they ended up killing you) anyway, just because "it's the ending"...seems pointless and stupid.

I would throw my nomination out to Prince of Persia: two thrones. The ending wasn't bad mind you, but I was really hoping to see the sword of the king vs the daggertail!

Mostly that the freed father considers it a REWARD to let you keep exploring the island - the same island where you have already seen and solved every single point of interest. It had merely been unremarkable had it not been for that attitude:)

Ogre Battle 64, just to be different

Speaking of being different, that game was supposed to have 30-some odd endings. I only got one. The same damn ending no matter what I did. And it wasn't even a good ending. Basically, "You're a great hero, but you think that you have to solve problems with violence, so we are banishing you from the kingdom. And in about a year, the kingdom you have worked so hard to save will be hammered into rubble from the neighboring barbarian kingdoms." Only way to solve problems is with violence? What the deuce? The game isn't called Ogre Peace Treaty!
It depends on your chaos frame. You need to liberate and not conquer towns. You're gonna get the good ending. (You had the bad one).

I gotta go with Final Fantasy 12. The whole game played like a bad Star Wars knock off, with little to no original storyline or developed characters. The whole game, i kept waiting for the story to start, and then the game ended, leaving me shaking my head in disgust.

Fallout 3, Fallout 3, goddamn Fallout 3.
Same.
Call me crazy, but I enjoyed the ending. I really bonded with my character, and the ending really hit the heart strings with me. Fortunately, I saved before starting the ending so I could continue my adventures.

Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm. A little message pops up. The gist of it is:

"Hey, well done. You finished. Gratz.

Probably assassins creed. It all got a bit too weird in the last level and then ended far too abruptly. I also think that the twist of your mentor (or whatever) being the villain would have been a bit less predictable if they HADN'T given him long black robes, a scar and a beard, those things just scream 'EVIL BASTARD!!!'
You were supposed to know he was bad from the beginning. The thing was, even though he's clearly evil. Altair's between a rock and a hard place, he still has to work for him.

Team Fortress 2. All I go was a little message saying that I'd won, and then it started over again. There was just no closure to all the complex storylines. I never even got revenge on my nemesis.

On a more serious note, Assassin's Creed. I loved the game, but in the whole "killing half the crusader army" bit got kind of monotonous after, I don't know, 500 identical baddies. And then the 'grand finale' was anticlimactic to the extreme.

Jericho. For those who actually Played the thing. You FINALLY start to like the characters, You FINALLY have some kind of emotional stake in the success or failure of their mission...and then the most likable folks get murdered, and THERE IS NO REAL ENDING.

It's like Clive barker remembered he was a writer halfway through, and then FORGOT he was in the last ten minutes of the thing.

I'm getting the impression that none of you have ever beaten Need for Speed : Most Wanted.

Seriously here is the ending right here "congratulations, you are the most wanted" with an "OK" button.

The end of Half-Life 2.
Wha...? The end of HL2 was kickass, though obviously set up for a sequel. If you hated that one, then you'd've loathed HL1's endings.
However, I would have to nominate Ep. 1 as the most confusing intro. I mean, wtf?! That's the best you can come up with, Valve? ):<

For those saying Halo 2, amen. I'm pretty sure the aliens in charge of security on that day were ejected into space in the outtakes that never got shown.

I would say that both the "good" and "bad" endings of The Bard's Tale are some of the worst, although the "good" ending is somewhat funny. I say this because 1) the "good" ending really doesn't have much good happening in it... and 2) the "bad" ending really isn't that terrible, its just lame... On the flip-side, the neutral ending for the same game was down-right hilarious, though not the best I've seen.

Upon having chosen the neutral ending, the Bard simply turns his back both on the Priest (although that might not be a good idea in some cases) and the "princess" (who is actually a very naughty demon), and instead heads back to the nearest bar, where he buys a round on the house... for a group of break-dancing skeletons and zombies. Hey, you wanted to read this, so don't blame me for having pressed the Spoilers button >.>
