If a game has platforming in a 3D space, you better give me control of the camera.
Main offender: God of War

Pissed me off to no end.
Have you ever played Ninja Gaiden?

I wished they did fixed camera like God of War when I was playing that game. It's hard and frustrating to focus the camera and fight enemies at same time.

Unskippable cut scenes. Plenty of games are guilty of it, but fuck Too Human. Granted I managed to beat the damn thing but I had like three 360 games at the time and it was either play that or nothing. On reflection, nothing would have been the better choice.
God of War origins collection.

Before the final boss in Chain of Olympus, there's unskippable cutscene. When you get killed, you have to watch that cutscene again before fighting the boss.

After I watched that unskippable cut-scene 3 times, I get a silver trophy titled "cool story bro".

Man, did that piss me off..

No hit reaction or stagger. I notice this in Uncharted a lot, especially in Crushing. I'm sorry, I don't care if you're an elite mercenary or a crack commando, I just shot you in the chest and you're wearing a three piece suit and you didn't flinch. No, instead you took the bullet like a champ and spray fired me to death.

Oh, whilst I'm bagging on Uncharted (as much as I enjoy the games). Forcing the grenade tutorial... again for the third time!

Nothing kills a game for me faster then quick time events. Press X to not die? How about press Esc to quit.

Gears of War 2. No, you may NOT do anything else while you've got your two fingers up to your ear to hear your comm. I mean, it's not like you've been talking to Anya JUST fine the entire freaking game.
If I recall, you can actually push select to cut those conversations short. Ditto any scripted squad chatter. I mean, it's not like they ever tell you you can do that, but you can. It's actually pretty funny, because Marcus will interrupt them with en "Enough!" or other equally rude statement.
Wait....what? The 360 controller has no Select button. Unless you mean Back? Which if you do, doh, I never tried that. Now I kind of want to.

is a cutscene considered as a gameplay feature? because a 1 hr long cutscene that is unskippable would be hell for me

I had forgotten about that one. It's especially annoying when you're trying to get or do something but can't because they will not shut up.

Quite funny that I thought about this topic about 5h ago after I played 1h of the following game:

Force Unleashed 1. Since the force is a feature of nearly all Star Wars games I count it here.

The poor balance of the force in this game killed my fun in it. From the beginning it is so much better than the lightsabre (seriously, why can people take two hits of this thing?).
Because they are made out of Spectacularanium. KotOR explained it in the tutorial section when you ask how you'd survive against a Dark Jedi. I forgot the actual name of the metal Vibroblades are made out of, though. But they make armor out of it too.
Saw nothing of this stuff in the movies or the Jedi Knight games. Keep the Kotor stuff in their timeline or in RPGs to explain those mechanics. If I play an action game where I swing a lightsabre it just breaks the immersion that everyone seems to withstand more than 1 hit disregarding if they are wearing armor or not.
The metal is called Cortosis. I actually heard of this stuff first mentioned in that Star Wars: Obi-Wan game on the original Xbox. It's a very rare extremely heat resistant metal. It's basically anti-lightaber material.

Even within the Star Wars lore, the strengths of Cortosis are conflicting. But it is mentioned quite a bit. Sometimes, Cortosis blades and armor have the ability to completely disable a lightsaber upon deflecting it. (Which might be a massive annoyance in a videogame if your lightsaber keeps shutting off after striking a cortosis vibroblade or armor.)

Although i do remember Jedi Outcast having a "saber realism" console command which basically allowed you to brutally dismember every single enemy in sight with a single hit. It made sense, and it was pretty awesome. 5 mercs stuck in a cramped room with one pissed off Jedi would equal nothing but severed heads and arms and legs and torsos everywhere.

OT: I was going to say "horrible voice acting", but then I read "Gameplay feature" So...

Regenerating health
Escort missions
Horrible AI
Insanely abstract puzzles with ridiculous unclear nonsensical solutions

Escort missions. They are a terribly idea. I hate them, always have hated them, and always will; I have never, ever, found a single escort mission I enjoyed. NPCs simply are not smart enough to be escorted safely. Best case scenario the AI is smart enough to go run behind me, sit behind a wall, and not move until the fighting is over.

Games with only one way to do things. This is why I'll play Deus Ex (the first one) until the end of time; I can do anything almost any way I can imagine, without one way being massively impractical or downright impossible. If I'm set up for it, I can run in and just shoot everybody, if not I can sneak around without firing a single shot, but neither way is absolutely "better."
I don't know. I like the escort mission in Dead Rising (it's one of the core mechanic of the gameplay). Yes, the NPC are kinda stupid. But I think it's the point. They are traumatized people. You, you've seen war before. They probably never even saw a dead animal before :). A "proof" that those escort missions aren't that bad is that they are easily doable :)

Busty, overly sexual and scantily clad female characters can ruin a game for me- yes, I am a male. This is the main reason why I don't buy fighting games. Seriously, name one fighting game where the female characters wear everyday clothing and have normal sized breast.

To tell you the truth, most games that imply a heavy sexual background or design to a female character turns me right off. Especially, if there is no point in the nudity.

(Eg. Sasha of Infamous: She didn't where pants and was covered in her brown sludge from belly to toe. It made it look like she wadded through a lake of feces.)
I would say "X-men Academy" fighting game. And Destrega (not the same type of fighting game, but still).

And, yeah, I know superhero tends to be scantly clad, but not as much as, say, DoA or Soul Caliber games.

Any feature that isnt implemented well can ruin a game pretty quickly i.e make the world open (but there is nothing to do) make acquiring things a grind for absolutely no reason other than to lengthen the game rather than as an incentive to improve your character/team and be able to tackle new challenges.

QTE are usually horrendously implemented (only exception I can think of is Naruto Shippuuden Ultimate Ninja storm 2 where they were actually fun) ditto escort quests.

Ridiculous cheating on the computers part just to do you over (most racing games).

Broken camera if I cant see whats going on how can I play same with dodgy collision detection and unresponsive controls.

Most gameplay features that ruin the game are usually due to it not belonging in the game (they just copied it because its in lots of popular titles) and/or it is poorly optimised.

I did play that, but forgot about it until you said this. It's actually a perfect example for this thread because I did quit playing it within an hour largely because of the camera issues.

Tutorials, I have been gaming for about 16 years ... I know x is jump and pushing forward on the analogue stick will make me move forward. Stop making me endure these trivial trials and make them skipable.
I was like that until I picked up Hearts of Iron 3.

I wanted a tutorial so much... I picked it up by playing Ireland endlessly, (They're relatively out of the war if your not in the Allies).
I should clarify, I mean ones that are mandatory. Sure if you pick up a war game like Rome, a how to is VERY useful but how many action/adventure or platforming games have the first level of "press X to jump, press CTRL to crouch, press shift to run" or "did you know aiming down sites with the right mouse button makes you more accurate. Also try crouching or going prone" well fuck me, who knew that adsing or laying down makes you more accurate? Just everybody who has ever played any FPS game ever!

I know there are always new players and there should be an option to turn on tutorials.
