http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCRANHCLMvE I really like this AMV, its actually well done.

What causes me to fanboy rage is when Diehard fans of FFVII say its the best RPG to ever be created and that is it the best of any and all Final Fantasies without considering any of the other games. I get it, FFVII was a good game, yes, I understand.

But denying and calling other FF games shit because you're so blinded by FFVII is just retarded.

Things that make me rage:

1) The ME3 ending haters. Especially that 10 plot hole video. If there is one thing I can't stand is really bad analysis, and the hating was based on really bad analysis. And when you try to engage in conversation, you get the "if you liked it, you aren't a real fan!" The entitled, whiny, poor analytical skills having ending people made me just crazy.

2) Replacing Mrs. Peel with Tara King in The Avengers. What was that?!

3) The film version of The Avengers with Uma Thurman. I just pretend it didn't happen.

4) The supremely irritating way they killed Tasha Yar in season 1 of Star Trek: TNG

5) The Dragon Age 2 haters. That was a great game!

I get the rage when people draw / create images or write stories about characters from games and films, doing things that they'd never do. Yes I am talking about porn / erotica.

I am very much NOT a prude, sometimes I can be downright twisted, but when I see (plucking any old example out the air) pictures of Liara being fucked up the bum by Wrex while licking out Samara (as far as I know, no such image exists...thankfully!), I tend to get a little snarky! Even poses which would normally grace a porn-mag make me cross!

When it comes to characters like this (especially Liara!), nudity is fine but it has to be tasteful and relevant! She's not a prude either but neither is she a porn-model / actress! The same goes for pretty much every character in the franchise - even Jack, who isn't what you'd shy and virtuous! While I am on the subject, why dress certain characters like they are about to go for a swim? Diana Allers looks like she's on her way to a latex / rubber fetishist's club and Miranda, as lovely as her bottom is, looks like she owns it!

And don't get me started on those bloody bishoujo statues of Liara...I was scaring the Incredible Hulk when I first saw those!

There's nothing wrong with fantasy and I myself have drawn erotica featuring Liara but it was tasteful and always backed up with at least a paragraph so, in my mind at least, it's not just tasteless, mindless smut.
Dude! Rule 34 man, rule 34!

On Topic, not sure if it constitutes fanboy rage exactly, but when I reached volume 2 of Michael Turners Fathom a major part of me died. Granted, really cant blame the man himself due to the whole cancer thing, but moving from volume one - which contains some of the absolute finest comic book art I have ever seen - to volume two, which appears to be drawn by an infant who hasn't even picked up a pencil before...

It just... Its a fucking drag. The story at that point makes no fucking sense because - and I'm not fucking kidding here - you cant even tell moving from one panel to another whether you're looking at the same fucking characters, thats how wildly inconsistent the fucking drawing is. And whoever drew it cant draw fucking eyes to save his fucking life.

Ok, So volume 3 got a little better (at least that was drawn by someone who knew what the fuck they were doing), but by then the damage had already been done.

Ok, so I guess it does get me raging a bit...

AMVs. Any/all of them.

Good concepts and source material gone bad or used in bad ways. Examples include the most recent Speed Racer (although Royalton is still a joy) and the slow-motion slide-shows in 300 (Don't need to see every remotely-significant soldier killing a bad guy, it's a giant battle!).

I love Final Fantasy 7, but I don't care for all the spin offs.
Well, Crisis Core for the PsP was pretty good. The ending even got a couple of tears out of me.

Why isn't there a Kenji path in Katawa Shoujo (not counting the insta death one.)? I wanted a gay sex scene, damnit!
Dude, we need a path with a female Hisao and Misha. I mean most of the Shizune story just got me more interested in Misha anyway.

When people don't know essential names in the film industry. Hitchcock, Kubrick, Coppola. And not even reckognizing some classics like Nosferatu, Modern Times, Citizen Kane and Casablanca.
I almost get violent. And with the increasing ignorance of the new generations, I bump into these kinds of people fairly often. It really, really grinds me.

Damn, I'm like that with a lot of things. Especially when it comes to games. I've got a lot of "friends" (I like them, most of the time) in school who sometimes just make me want to punch them. They think they're the most amazing gamer ever, who knows of every single game in the world. I said to them if they knew Kojima, Suda51 or even fucking Miyamoto and every time they went "Dunno, bet it's some stupid shit!".

All I felt was rage.

I have the same, but less with games, because I think they are not yet pieces of common knowledge everyone should have.

The reason why I am like that more with movies is that most people I like to talk to say they like movies. Some even say they love movies. They talk about movies they like, they hate. The amount of rage I feel when a person like that doesn't know Kubrick or Hitchcock is something out of this world. I think AT LEAST those two people should be familiar to everyone over the age of like 12. Haven't stopped me from meeting people over 40 who don't know Kubrick, which baffles me. People who remember the massive amounts of news and controversy about Clockwork Orange or the massive amounts of media about his death. Drives me crazy.

I'm not a film buff, and I admit that. But even I know who the greats are. Mostly through Cinemassacre though. But I do know a lot. But yeah, people who openly say they know a lot about a subject and then when someone actually DOES come up and ask them about the subject they don't know about it. You aren't a film buff if you've never heard of Kubrick or Hitchcock. I wouldn't even consider someone one if they didn't know about Scorsese, Tarantino, the Coen brothers or Miyazaki.

I really don't understand how people can get invested into fandoms to feel rage about changes and how the story progresses in a different way they intended. Fanboy rage is the most hysterical thing for me to watch/saddest. This was particularly evident after the first showing of DmC and watching all the fans flip tables.
Frankly I connect Fanboy rage with 'This is Why we can't have Nice Things', but then as I said I just don't get Fandoms or being that viscerally attached to somebody else's creation.

So, we've all got things we love. Fandoms, as it was. But, in every fandom, there are things that we'd... rather not acknowledge. Bad sequels, bad prequels, bad adaptations, bad characters, bad stories, etc.

Basically, what is that ONE thing you hate about something you love?

Well, for me, I've got two that spring to mind. As much as I love Final Fantasy X, there is one aspect of it that makes my blood boil. I think all of you will probably see this coming:

Really don't want to go into an entire rant about this, but the short version is, this game makes me want to punt a kitten.
Totally agree.
FF X-2 completely ruined the ending, which was poignant to the point of reducing me to tears, and proceeded to demolish everything that made FF X so good.
Let's go punt that kitten together, shall we?
Oh thank Christ, someone who GETS it.

See, I can deal with alot of stupid crap. I could deal with the fact that the game is a shameless cash-grab. I could deal with the fact that it relentlessly reuses FAR too many of the assets from the previous game. I could deal with the (in my mind, at least) lackluster combat. I could deal with the awful story. I could deal with the blatent fanservice. I could deal with the various other nitpicks and grievances I have for that game.

But what I simply CANNOT tolerate about the game is the way it goes out of it's way to remove all the emotion from the story, and more importantly, ending of X. The fact that it removes ALL ambiguity about the fate of Yuna and Tidus is infuriating.

There's a scene near the end of the game where Yuna goes into a speech about how they "Shouldn't have sacrificed the Aeons" during the last game. The whole thing just seems so "holier than thou", which is rather unlike Yuna. Plus, it ignores the fact that the Aeons WANTED TO BE SACRIFICED. You know, so they could finally REST after a millennia of dreaming?

Grr. But yes, let us punt kittens together. I'll grab my golf shoes.

I'm gonna go with the OP on the whole Derpy Hooves debate. Speaking as someone with Asperger's Syndrome (diagnosed by a doctor, thankyouverymuch, I'm not some self-entitled prick), I was never "offended" by her, in fact, I really liked her character - well the one the fans gave her, but that's not the point. People complained about the people complaining, but that's what got us into this mess in the first place! *SIGH*

Well, I?m pissed off that they?re doing a remake at all of the classic Schwarzenegger sci-fi film Total Recall, with Colin Farrell in the main role. There?s no fucking need, it?s going to be shit, and I want to squarely punch in the nose whoever came up with that bright idea.

The English dubs of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z that pretty much shit all over the original creation by Toriyama/Toei.

Censorship of various anime shows in general, because of prudish American culture around the topic of NUDITY and SEX.

Various games that are only released on Japan and not in Europe. Why won?t you let me play your wonderful games?

Console fanboys. ?Nuff said.

When my friend said, ?All fighting games are pretty much the same, and you can beat anyone just by button-mashing!?

Oh yeah another thing. I agree with vault101, people who think I'm an entitled crybaby because I didn't gobble up the Mass Effect 3 ending like a good little sheep makes me grind my teeth in rage. I'm very sorry that I have an opinion.

Well that fucking DMC reboot comes to mind.

People calling X as megaman frustrates me to say the least.

All those threads about HL's undeserved fame makes me cringe.

I also hate the whiners at TF2 who moans how F2P or hats ruined the game.

I fucking loath at the notion of dumbing down a formerly complex and respectable franchise for "WIDER CONSUMER APPEAL"(Take your fucking pick)

Also the word "entitled". Well excuse me for not expecting or accepting shit on a golden plate your highness.
