what happened to cartoons? why are all of the new ones(except a select few) terrible. what ever happened to shows like the angry beavers and rugrats? G.I Joe and thunder cats? what seperates the new cartoons from the old. what were your favorite old cartoons?
One of my favourite childhood cartoons was Tom & Jerry.... it's quite obvious what ruined that... political correctness.... Tom or Jerry can no longer smoke, some of the characters were removed as apparently they were stereotypical "black people", tom and jerry can't fight each other in certain ways anymore as it's not politicaly correct to do so.

In the end, it's all a load of crap aswell... I grew up watching this show every week and them smoking has never inclined me to smoke..... I'm not some racist biggot, in fact i'm extremely open minded with the majority of things..... I'm not a psychopathic mass murderer who can't tell the difference between cartoons and reality..... Anyhow rant over.... I blame Political correctness, and also just a general lack of good cartoon writers.
Damn polititions
sorry for double post
I shall make a campiagn on how Gamers should be the ones running the Countries who shall join me ?

Who shall throw over these parasites we call "Politicans"

From our new rule there shall be a world with infintie beauty and piece

Holey crap, $60?

Guess I'll just buy a bunch of DvDs and try to record the show when it runs on TV...

You've got to be kidding. For a show of Samurai Jack's quality (and with its huge rewatch value), $60 is a bargain.

You're not entitled to TV shows. It takes a lot of money to produce something like Samurai Jack, and if self-professed "fans" won't support it with anything more than lip service, then we'll never see the end of the story.

Okay, I know Samurai Jack is awesome (I've watched at least 2 first seasons, only they were aired on Polish Cartoon Network, at least 2 times each or more), but $60 is a lot for me. Example.

$50 is a normal price for a game in US. For us, that's almost 165 PLN. That's 65 PLN more than a normal, average-priced game (35 PLN more than EA games or Dawn of War 2). I think you can see this is a pretty big difference.

Not to mention, shipping to Poland costs a lot.

Just because you can't spend $60 plus shipping on something doesn't mean you have the right to steal it.

Well, I see it this way.

They don't want me to buy it. If they did, they would... *checks Empik, one of the best if not THE best shop for imported things* yeah, they would at least ship to few shops in my country, so we could buy it.

Also, I do not trust either the international post office OR Polish post office. For example, I ordered a Nintendo DS on April 1st. And I got it YESTERDAY. Two weeks? For a 140km away package? And they expect me to pay for that? Holy crap.

It would take at least 2-3 months before I would get it and I would long forget that I ordered it. And I do not trust Amazon, because if ANYTHING happened (scratched DVDs, missing box, anything), I have nobody to complain about it.

Do you have any idea how this stuff works? It's not up to Cartoon Network to ship DVDs to any and every store in the world with a DVD rack in it; it's up to the stores to order merchandise that they think will sell. It's not CN's fault that your local DVD shop has none in stock - it's the store's fault.

You'd have had a slightly stronger argument if you'd have pointed out that it's not available with the applicable region coding for Poland (which I assume is R2 like the rest of Europe?), but given how cheap region-free DVD players are (and the fact that PC drives can easily be unlocked with cheap or even free software), that's a weak argument at best.

As for the "not trusting the post office" thing, I suppose there's not much argument I can do against that, having had no experience of the Polish service. But I've had plenty of experience with slow internatonal shipping, missing packages and broken merchandise, and it wouldn't stop me from ordering a legitimate release of a TV show that I enjoy.

You say I have no idea how "this stuff works", yet you too assume I've only checked in a local DvD shop (we have none of those - no shops selling only DVDs) for it. No. I checked in Empik's main webside. It shows if there is an item in ANY of the shops in the whole Poland.

Oh, right, region coding? Like I'm going to buy ANOTHER DVD player (laptop, DivX player, XviD player, 2 DVD drives in PC). Money doesn't grow on trees.

And I def. will never order anything above 100 PLN and have it transported by the Polish post office. Only private couriers.

Regardless of how many physical stores you checked, my point still stands: if there aren't any copies of a DVD in a given store, it's the fault of that store, not the production company. The store has to order in the stock they think will sell; the distributor would waste a fortune if they were to ship every release they manage out to every store in the world, and then have to ship it all back when next to nobody buys them.

Well, like I said - you can unlock one of those PC drives for next to nothing, if not entirely for free.

I'm pretty sure Amazon offer private courier services - but they're awfully expensive, and you seem to be very reluctant to spend any cash - especially if you're going to make sure everything over £20 is going to be couriered. You'd be spending more on the shipping than the item, in most cases.

Frankly, I've had a much harder time getting stuff shipped by couriers than I ever have with the Royal Mail or the USPS.

Okay, I agree with it that unlocking a PC DVD is easy (although this means I can't watch it on my TV...) and it's store's fault for not having the DVDs.

But I am not going to pirate it. I'll try at local MediaMarkt, seeing as they might have more DVDs than Empik.

The decline of metal and hard rock in the main stream. Think about it, Skeleton Warriors had a frickin' sweet intro consisting of an aweosme riff and the occasional vocals being layered up to add to the epicness. Thunder cats was a similar principle. Hell, just look at how power rangers has gone down hill and you'll see it isn't just cartoons. Mighty Morphin's Power Chords eventully degenerated into... I'm not sure what to call the new stuff, but it makes channel flicking a far more dangerous thing to do.

I so badly miss those old cartoon days.

Rocko's Modern Life
Ren & Stimpy
TMNT *Favorite*
Animaniacs
Freakazoid *Favorite*
Beetlejuice *Favorite*
Duck Tails
Tail Spin
Darkwing Duck
Cow & Chicken
Tiny Toon Adventures
Marsupilami (bet you forgot about that one eh?)
the super mario brothers show with the occasional Zelda cartoon (i know, its cheesy. but it had its charm)

But at least be happy in the prospect that it was our generation that got to witness it. much like the video game revolution.

Flash technology killed cartoons...

Nowadays anyone can do a cartoon, it doesnt take any sort of an effort nor talent, therefore they spam the networks with crappy cheap ones that dont even have a point to it all except for aiding the massacre of braincells in our kids.

Back in the day (80s/90s) they were well written, well painted and they took effort, and they put alot of love into them, they were awesome back then.

I cant say how happy i am to have grown up with good cartoons like Ducktales, Transformers, Turtles etc... instead of the crap that's on tv these days.

I know. I loved Pinky and the Brain, everything has been downhill fromthere.
pinky and the brain and the whole animaniacs crew, i miss them all so much. There are 1 or new good ones but i think cartoons and cartoonists are scared to try some thing new. Sponegebob became hugely popular because its complete idiotic crew so now every other cartoon as some sort of idiotic crew or cast to try and make it as big as SpongeBob so we are in a never ending loop of idiocy
That is an interesting theory, I never got why people liked Sponge Bob, it is one of those shows that actually makes you more dumb.
I don't think cartoons make people Dumb I prefer to blame rap music (especially that Bullshit excuse for music that is played in america all it does is copy a crappy rock song from the 80's and change the words to shit thats supposed to get stuck in your head for days like subliminal messaging) and the no child left behind act.
Oh man, yes Rap is the worst. It is all anyone plays as far as "dance music" goes even though there is music that is much better to dance to. Rap isn't even really music because it lacks melody.
Music does not require melody. Rhythmic variations on drums do not generally have a melody, but would be considered music (at least by me). Rap is music. It's just crappy music (most of the time).
