Exactly, they're going to die. EA are making sure of that.
If not that then maybe EA will do to Bioware what Microsoft did the Rare. Well...same thing I guess...nevermind.

C&C is an EA studio that they assigned under bioware, no actual relation there.
Atari currently has the D&D license for VGs, Cryptic studios (city of x/Star Trek Online) is making the Neverwinter MMORPG and slated for late 2012 (yeah right) release.

Answer: nothing that outweighs EA.

they need to get some new fans. Most of Mass effect fandom was because of Shepard and with that story line at an end they either need to get a lot of fans from DA3 or from the new ME series. C&C Generals is going to fop in my opinion. Even as a C&C fan I never got into Generals, preferring to play RA (CnC if we we're playing seriously, has better balancing) due to having a much better universe. A new RA game even if it is poorly balanced would probably get my purchase just because I love the silliness of it. But I don't see any reason for the Bioware logo on it other then trying to help sales, which shouldn't matter if it's a good game :/

Bioware isn't perfect but they still make awesome games, EA is pretty stupid but they still on occasion publish some pretty cool stuff. That's pretty much where it ends.
Name some awesome games that Bioware's come out with recently, please. As for EA, I can't think of anything of theirs I've liked in quite a while, but I also don't keep track of everything they put out... what are some of your favorite EA-published games that have come out over the last year or two?
Starting from the time they signed on with EA, Mass Effect was a brilliant combination of one of my favorite stories in gaming with very refreshingly atypical gameplay for an RPG. It was only outshone by Mass Effect 2, which was smart enough to realize that rather then holding itself to stodgy conventions of what shooters and RPGs 'should' be, it could do whatever it wanted and be better for it. I think Rock Paper Shotgun's genre definition of Guns & Conversation says it best. And while I haven't started the campaign for 3 yet as I'm rebuilding save files, I've been having much more fun with the multiplayer then I expected I would.

Even though Dragon Age Origins wasn't as much my kind of thing I recognized it as being awesome for the people who are better suited to it. Not to mention I've liked the sound of quite a lot of what I've heard about Dragon Age 2, repetition aside, since it seems to go out of it's way to murder as many fantasy tropes as it can get it's hands on and I love that kind of thing.

As for EA we have both Dead Space 1 and 2 which despite not being at all scary were excellent, the woefully under-appreciated Mirror's Edge, the Battlefield series, and Crysis, just off the top of my head. Yes, they do a lot of stupid stuff, but still, good games.

The reason I'm so tired of this is that no one is right, there is no fact. You clearly didn't like any of the Bioware stuff I've listed, I loved them, neither of us are right. Bioware is not dead nor a traitor nor any of the other accusations that get leveled against it. They just make games that some people like and some people don't, so does everyone.

Jade Empire is an IP I'd like to see them continue with; I don't get enoungh martial arts in my RPGs and Jade Empire is a fantastic game.

I don't know; I think they might do interesting things with C&C Generals. The Command and Conquer franchise has always had a flair for the melodramatic; maybe along with Bioware's clear desire to be storytellers, they'll create something compelling.

It's not going to make a heckuva lot of difference to me, because I'm dedicated to not putting more money into EA's coffers until the possibly never-to-come day when they get their head out of their ass and stop treating their customers like piñatas. But I do recognize that Bioware made some good games, and I haven't seen evidence that suggests to me they're incapable of doing so again.

I'm a little late to this thread, but I still have to say what people have probably said already:

Enough is enough. This has to be at least the 100th thread about the ME3 and BioWare "debacle". This maybe slightly different than most, but it will have similar responses to the others. It's just another thread in a slightly different skin.

Edit: I believe DA3 will be next, and I think it will be good, since they at least confirmed that they will keep with having a fully voiced main protagonist, which will most likely bring back my beloved dialogue wheel.

The problem with Bioware is they only know how to make one game. The story and characters are the same every time. Have you played Mass Effect? Yes? Then you have played all Bioware games. They have nothing more to offer.
I guess it is a matter on how I look at things, but I've played KotOR, DA:O, DA2, and ME 1 through 3.

I can see plenty of differences in the characters from each game, though this is my view on each:

KotOR-- Good(though I haven't played it in a long time, and my thoughts on games tend to degrade some with age, so I probably thought it was better back then.)

DA:O-- Horribly rotten and the boring, cliche, and similar to each other characters (mostly brooding jerks that I had to coax out of their shells, and get to change for the better) was one of reasons I only got a little over 20 hours in and couldn't continue.

DA2-- Awesome, the characters are my favorite parts.

ME 1 through 3-- Again, characters are my favorite parts, along with the story(couldn't care less about ME3's ending, it was meh. So what? It could never tarnish the past parts for me.)

Did I miss something? I'm saying that because nobody has even mentioned Baulder's Gate yet.
while i agree with you, i think it wont happen. Baulder's Gate is really an old school pc rpg, and as biowarEA has shown they dont wont to go to that crowd any more. however with Dragonage Origins being so well accepted and actually out selling DA2 i think they have the potential to go back to this crowd, but theyd have to make an absolutely amazing game to get their trust back

just a warning, your going to get a lot of hate from people (maybe me depending how an argument about this goes) for making that comment

the writing in DragonAge Origins was miles better than DA2 in pretty much every way, i will agree its cliche but its executed very very well. and the characters in the first are much better than the second. (anders in awakening is be far superior to anders in 2)

Mass Effect isn't done yet. It's a huge universe that they've already said they're going to keep going. Sure, Commander Shepard's story may be over, but there's a MASSIVE universe they have to expand with that can fir into almost ANY genre. I for one hope for an official pen and paper game.

I know very well that my views will get me flack, which I have a lot of views that would. If I didn't post my views because of little things like people having hate for me because I have a different opinion, I wouldn't post at all. Hate is a very strong word, and it is quite stupid for for people to actually hate someone because they have a different view about a game, dislike is okay, but hate, ludicrous.

Example:
I dislike the views of "Retake Mass Effect", but I don't hate people for it.

I'm going to link this Shamus Young article (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/columns/experienced-points/6862-The-Writers-of-BioWare) and let him do the explaining for me.
I tend to agree with Shamus on most of his thoughts in his articles, but I have to respectfully disagree this time, at least in a sense that I don't think such things have an effect on BioWare's games.

He pointed out that some of the characters can fit into some very basic though broad archetypes, but I wouldn't call the characters the same.

I seriously don't look or think about those archetypes in the first place when I play BioWare games. I look at the personality of the characters and the story behind the characters(who they are, where they've been, and the purpose of dealing with the main character).

I think back on those points with each of the characters from the list(the ones I know, never got to play Jade Empire), and I see that they fit in the archetypes Shamus put them in, but other than that, they are not similar to each other because their stories and personalities make them different.

Oh they will still make games... but they will just fall into the background. they will make "AAA" titles but in truth they will be "B" titles with the guise of "AAA" titles just like COD and MW, and all of the EA sport games. Oh ya and Halo.
Oh dear. They will make millions upon millions of dollars with each game. The horror.

Besides, is that really "the background?"

This.

You'd be crazy to think they're not going to milk Mass Effect until it's utters bleed. I think I've heard somewhere that they plan on making a Mass Effect themed FPS.

At this point I just see Bioware making more Mass Effect and Dragon Age games for the next several years. Both are profitable series that can continue to make Bioware mad bank. Bioware basically has no reason to make new IPs, as ME and DA have a lot of room left to explore. People might say that EA is killing them, but the sales say that Bioware will be around for a long time making games.

However, the Mass Effect universe is going to be harder to make games for now, as Bioware really only can do prequels and side-stories thanks to the disastrous consequences of their *cough* "Artistic Vision" for the ending.

they could try making a new IP however it's up to us gamers to see if that will live or die based on sales. I don't really have any idea what they could do but let's just leave at no more space marines or star wars games.
