My step dad and my grandfather contributed greatly to my sense of humor. One gave me a dry sense of wit, the other gave me a sick sense of humor only learned from years on the police force.

well, I have a pretty dark sense of humor. I think its because I lived in Chicago and have seen plenty of violence.

I also contribute my humor to The Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park, Futurama, and plenty of other TV shows

I do the (apparantly) humerous, topical ranting a lot...
Jesus. Okay George. Lets look at the phrase "Sense of Humor".

It does not mean "I'm funny like this guy."

It means "I have a sense, and that sense tells me that this is funny."

And while I'm sure everyone thinks you're so funny like George Carlin, what with your rants and all, I'd rather you not tell us what we're supposed to interpret your hilarity as. Let your topical ranting speak for itself.

I'm a pretty comical guy. Over the years I've latched onto certain media that has inspired my sense of humor. Namely, I have shows like South Park and Mystery Science Theater 3000 to thank for what I find funny out in the world. Weird Al was another big one for me growing up. So, what has inspired the rest of you for what you find funny and hilarious?
pretty much my upbringing. MST3K, old SNL shows, the simpsons and monty python. golden combonation.

Monty Python's flying cirCUS!

Epic guys.

Yea I find that hilarious, I also like most stand up.

My mum always says I have a "dry sense of humour" i don't exactly know what she means but I'll run with it.

I also like witty comedy aswell

You be careful not to fall off that horse now ok?

Here, I'll re-write it to fit your needs:

I like George Carlin. His scathing observations speak to my character.

As an aside some of his vocal style has worked its way into my every day speech over the years. People find this funny.

That better for you? I hope so.

Man, I just say shit and people either laugh or they don't.

Comedians just add to my world view. The more perspectives you can bring into a situation, the higher the chances of finding conflict between them, and thus giving birth to comedy.

Well, I'm just a cynical, insensitive, passive-aggressive dick by nature.

A select few people find my pitch-black humour to be amusing.

Really not a positive thing by any stretch of the imagination.

That's it.

Irony and absurdity. Irony and absurdity.

And just plain, well-executed silliness.

South Park, MST3K, Monkey Island, Psychonauts, Invader Zim, Hitchhikers' Guide, Lee & Herring, Adam & Joe, Avid Merrion (before he sold out), Space Ghost C2C, Sealab 2021, Aqua Teen Hunger Force...

Monty Python for absurd.

Dave Barry for written.

Basic sarcasm, parody, and improvisation when dealing with situations I'd rather not be in.

And when in doubt, hit a guy with a pie... preferably one that he bought.

I would love to include a few comedians in my list of inspirations, but I honestly haven't watched enough of any one comedian to be "inspired." I really want to list Carlin because the 2 stand-ups I've seen of his really hit that nerve for me, but 2 stand-ups, while inspirational, aren't enough to form a lasting impact like other things have for me.

I probably am one of the few fans of Southpark that actually laugh at the second season's April Fools joke. I just get it.

The Simpsons was a big influence on me. I love to mislead people and then slap them in the face with something completely random.
Yahtzee recently has started to become an influence. I find myself making more funny analogies these days.

I'm very observational. I joke about what I see or if someone makes a mistake I make it public!
