Canada gave the Americans Celine Dion, because quite frankly, everything America does affects Canada pretty hard, so we gave them someone who won't leave

The best thing to come out of Canada, is The Trailer Park Boys - damn I miss that show... those guys re-invented Canadian comedy IMO. I liked Kids in the Hall as well... Canada has it's own way of doing things, and doesn't care how annoying that is to Americans :D

Oh? You're from China? 'Cause Mandarin is the most spoken language in the world, not English, and judging from the 3/4's of the world bit, I'm guessing you're actually British.

...

Did that come off as condescending? I really hope it didn't, because I'm not trying to be condescending here.

Yes, yes, we're all aware that Germany invented 99% of everything. If you didn't invent, you perfected. Now go away and leave us to our gloating.

South Africa - Open Heart Surgery, Charleze Theron, J.R.R Tolkien, some kind of insane cannon in the 70s, some kind of insane helicopter, CAT Scans, oil from coal, Kreepy Krauly (those swimming pool things).

Recently we're building two "strongest telescopes in the world", I can't remember what they're called but SCIENCE!!! and all that.

A debatable contribution was the war in Angola against the communists.
J.R.R. Tolkien is British, everyone knows this.
Whilst he may be British, he spent a few years of his childhood living in South Africa.

OT: Coming from England, we pretty much gave you the modern world. So, Y'know...your welcome.

William Penn, who was actually a resident of the town I've lived in my entire life (and I've been in his house which is now a museum of the town) pretty much created what is now known as the state of Pennsylvania and wrote many treatises that inspired the likes of Thomas Jefferson and his ideas and principles on how to govern Pennsylvania were, in one way or another, used in the creation of the US Constitution.

Why did this come into being? Because at the time, Penn was a practising Quaker and that sort of thing was looked down upon and it ended up that he and other Quakers bought the plot for Pennsylvania.

Or at least...something like that.

Sorry to burst your bubble but Rock was invented in the US
Rock'n'Roll is in fact a pre-historical invention from the southern tip of Africa, it refers to the practice of bashing the nearest female over the head with a stone and then having a roll in the hay with her.

It only became a musical thing after people had laid down laws against bashing another man's woman.

There's a interesting circle to that: the British empire sent slaves to America, which led to blues, which led to jazz, which led to rock, which was then co-opted by the British. So, you not only showed us how it's done, you laid the foundation for it, too!
