Girls on GameFAQs? I think that's a myth created so someone have a reason to post "pics nao" every now and then.SimuLord said:If the majority of gaming-forum users were female, and it was a 19:1 split like it is male-to-female on most video game and nerd culture sites...
would the girls relentlessly hit on "zomg a GUY on here?" when an even halfway good-looking dude showed up?
We don't really have that problem on the Escapist---for the most part gender doesn't matter in conversation---but on a site like GameFAQs or IGN I imagine it'd be horrible.
My ex-wife is probably still a regular there---I haven't been arsed to look. I migrated over to the Escapist forums while I was still married. The community's better here. And the women we do have---well, the vast majority of them are beautiful, intelligent, and not at all concerned with over-acting the part of their gender. They're just people. Cool people.Yopaz said:Girls on GameFAQs? Lol, Susan, what are you implying anyway? ;pSusan Arendt said:I find it amusing that you seem to think that the stuff you like comprises "the internet" - trust me, there's a whole lot more out there than just gaming sites and forums - and that women apparently don't like porn.
Women use the internet for more than just Facebook. Get a clue.

I would have to agree there. The community there feels so immature while this is is a more matured relaxed community with smart people for the most case. I don't regret leaving GameFAQs behind for hanging here. Me and GameFAQs just grew apart from each other I guess...SimuLord said:My ex-wife is probably still a regular there---I haven't been arsed to look. There have been other studies and that was the one which took the least effort to find. But I'm pretty sure in general that men look at porn more often than women. Of course this could be be very easily biased in the way that men would more readily admit to watching porn.NeutralDrow said:They already are, I'm pretty sure. If not, the numbers are roughly equal.
In other words, basically nothing different.

Assuming you unequivocally accept the statistics presented by a self-selection bias-suffering tabloid and a hardcore anti-porn site?

I'm going to go with her opinion. I think there really wouldn't be a difference. In fact I bet if it did happen and the 'rule of the internet' was: There is no men on the internet. I'd never believe it. The fact is half this world has women on it! So I assume half are on the internet as is! It won't really matter to anyone except ad designers.Susan Arendt said:I find it amusing that you seem to think that the stuff you like comprises "the internet" - trust me, there's a whole lot more out there than just gaming sites and forums - and that women apparently don't like porn.
