I have a friend who is dating my other friend. She has some extreme political views, but the most general thing I can say about them is the fact that she's completely anti-republican. Not that she's just a democrat, but she says, and I quote, "Republicans support rapists."
It has something to do with abortion and one republican bullshit bill that requested a women looking to have an abortion be subjected to a vaginal test to be certain that the fetus wasn't fully developed or something like that. I've never even heard of this document, so I figure it's probably one of the many bullshit bills that get shot down the moment they're presented. Hell, I know people who are prolife that would think the very concept of the test is stupid and fails to solve any real issues. However, by supporting the republican side of the fence, you're in support of bills like this in her mind, meaning you're in support of raping pregnant women with this test.
Anyway, she found out that her girlfriend's mother is republican. Bear in mind, the mother is possibly one of the coolest, most level-headed and easy-going people you've ever met; being republican has no effect on how she treats other people or their differing views. This apparently doesn't mean anything to my friend, despite the fact that she's been on great terms with this woman since the first day she started dating her daughter. Now, my friend is having conflicted feelings, to the point where she doesn't even know how to act around this woman anymore. It's really utterly ridiculous. They had an awesome relationship before, now this insignificant detail has dominated her entire view of this woman.
