I'm currently sporting pink and purple leopard print on my head so yeah, it might just be subjective.

Pink does more than you think, man.

While I personally don't care for the singer, the color is very nice. Also, I plan to get a pink DS when I get the chance. I wants to play me some Black and White pokemon.

And I know that, being a guy, I'm going to *activate flame shield* now and steel myself for the onslaught of comments and quotes that will follow this announcement...*ahem*...

Girls rule. Especially gamer chicks.

Pinky takes great insult at the offense of his color...
It may be just society influencing girls to like pink. There's nothing really wrong with that. So what if they like pink? Who actually cares? My favorite colors are Red, White, Blue, and Black (It doesn't have anything to do with the american flag, I just like those colors)

I actually agree. There's something about the color pink that I find attractive.

Social conditioning. Parents buy girls pink things before they're even born once they know the gender of their child. Pink, pink, pink. Everything you get as a girl is pink because you're a girl and society says girly things are pink. Boys are conditioned to think that pink is feminine and therefore wrong and they shouldn't go anywhere near it. Blue boy. Everything blue.

That's pretty much the extent of it.

Go into a shop with clothes for little girls, (oh stop acting like you don't already,) and count how many different colours of t-shirt you'll find. I'm guessing you'll find two; pink and posibly purple. Basically girls like pink because that's pretty much the only thing they're given from a young age.

This is in part because babies all look the same and it's to make all the cooing old ladies on the bus at least know whether to say "oh what a lovely little boy" or "oh what a precious little girl". Pro tip: This is why you should be a dickhead and dress your kid in yellow.

I think you are overthinking things a bit.

Pink happens to be my favorite color but that didn't officially kick in until like the middle of junior high for me. 7th grade. Before that, red was my favorite color. Even though I grew up watching Power Rangers and wanted to be the pink ranger like most girls, red was still my fave color.

It's all just totally subjective. Yeah, society drills it into you at least where babies are concerned. But after that, they pretty much don't give a damn. In the past, it used to be guys didn't wear pink. Now no one cares.

To me, pink is pretty. I don't like it because of the society thing. But I like how bright it is and how it does actually make me feel a bit girly. But for me, all bright colors do that.

Have a picture:

I have pink in my avatar, it compliments the other colours.

You may be thinking of hot pink, which is very intense and difficult to look at. In which case, let me show you something else:

I like neon pink... But that being said, I love neon colours in general.
And I'm a shameless part of the Hello Kitty cult that is raging through todays society (woot, 'goth' Hello Kitty freak).

I've got plenty of female friends who hate pink, and guys who don't.

You said it yourself, it's subjective. It's a colour. Without it things just wouldn't be the same.

I like it in small doses. I have a love-hate relationship with pretty things. Damn society and marketing boards trying to make people insecure and perpetuate gender norms, setting an unrealistic photoshopped standards and making people depresse- ZOMG LOOK SO PRETTY I wonder how she does her makeup oh look a youtube tutorial- dammit I'm not a consumer-whore preoccupied with beautification and fakeness this is a waste of- oh you slovenly miserable insecure thing sitting around the house all day in oversize faded black t-shirts- oh right, the colour pink?

Alright, I'll not get carried away here...

Is it just what it's associated with, with gender stereotypes and all, that make you think it's hideous?

I got a pink foot stool, just to fuck with guys like you, I dress in black, have lots of drab earthy colors and then WAMOTHABAM! barbie pink foot stool right under my silver playstation. Colors are colors, not people.
Awesome. I have a pink Kombi-shaped money-box with rainbows on it on top of my bookshelf that includes The Best of H.P. Lovecraft: Bloodcurdling tales of Horror and the Macabre, Chuck Palahniuk books, Trainspotting, and Ragnar Benson's Urban Survival, haha.

Pink is an ugly colour, yeah ok thats subjective, but still I think pink is friggen ugly
You just answered yourself.

Maybe society has brain washed YOU to hate pink.
I'm sorry seeing as i love this topic I'm going to continue one even if somebody has replied.
*Brainwashing* now that's a statement I like, some T.V ads these days should be accused of brainwashing it's all about obvious subliminal messages, Take the ad for a new line of clothing now regularly ads like that show lots of people having a good time and here comes the important part *In the clothes* so our brain makes the link new clothes=friends, it's like models we are being told what is beautiful in the middle ages fat people were found most attractive because the were technically speaking healthy and now the stereo-type has changed so that ultra skinny girls are considered "Attractive" now here I come to my main point people come to the stereo-type that "Uhh pink is an ugly color because girls wear it and I can't wear colors like it" now imagine if we live in a alternate universe in which nothing had changed except that this guy found pink Good-looking and everybody else did then of course you would wear... pink.

My Blackberry is pink, and specific shades of pink (such as light pink) can actually look quite nice and not as tacky as you thought it would be, but my favourite colour is blue (Purple is a close second). I absolutely love blue. I know a lot of what could be considered "girly girls" that do not like pink that much but prefer yellow or other light/pastel shades, and I know girly girls whose favourite colour is pink. Its all a matter of personal preferences really.

A friend of mine absolutely detests pink, up to the point where she berated me for wearing anything with pink on it and tried to steal a pair of Nike trainers off me and throw them away because the Nike tick logo was a baby pink colour. The rest of the shoe was a light brown and white. I think she was trying to be funny but to me she came off looking like a fool.

Girls I know who are pink-mad deffo give in more easily to peer pressure, so for them it's likely to be societal.

My fave colours are darkish blues and darkish purples. I'm not a fan of pink, brown and certain shades of light blue.

I don't like pink, but I don't hate it either.

When I was a kid, I loved pink. Everything I got had to be pink. And I'm not even a girl, I was simply raised as one and mostly had girls as friends because of that. To me, pink was a "princess colour" and all my older, cooler friends' who I tried to mimic had their cool stuff in pink, so of course I became infatuated with pink. Pink denoted higher status.

For a long time now, my favourite colour has been green instead.

Symbolism. Society has made it look like girls like pink. Same with guys being related to blue.

No one has been brainwashed, it's just how the market works.

And for the record, my girlfriend likes purple.

But,...but,...my favorite color is green. =(

I used to hate the color pink, because my Mother dressed me up in it continuously until I just couldn't stand it any longer. But really, it isn't so bad. Just very overused.
