Because the show is quite well drawn, well writen, conatins jokes for adults without it being "adult humor", and is fun to watch.

Hell, I was the skepticalz at first and all, but I think it was the Yakety Sax reference (rather, remix) that really nailed it for me, as I'm quite sure the average little girl isn't familiar with the antics of Benny Hill.

Third, actually. And yes, the 80's version was girl fluff. Not really worth watching.

The show though, it may be meant for young girls according to Lauren Faust, but she crafted the show to be fun for the parents of those children, as well as adult men and women in general.

That's why the show is so fun to watch; because it was not made for one demographic to enjoy.

Yeah Sorry I take that back, I did not think it through. Hell I know a gay guy who actually loves some epic stuff like Gundam, Metal Gear solid, Left 4 dead, COD and other pretty "Manly" things. I was kinda talking out of my ass there. I apologize.

The first few episodes don't really give an overall good first impression of the show to be honest, it has a generally different feel than the rest of the episodes. I would recommend giving Swarm of the Century:


a try before you judge the show, you do not require any background knowledge of the characters and it's quite a fun to watch episode.

Basically, as I've said in the other pony threads, if you're a fan of animation you'll probably enjoy My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

This is NOT like the past generations of MLP, it's freaking awesome!

Faust is a genius in the industry. She managed to take a toy line of pink and purple ponies and turn it into something brilliant. That is enjoyed more by adults than its target audience.

I did not think you really meant anything by it, which is why I gave you that calm warning, so apology accepted. While stereotypes actually are more true than some want to admit, its best that people try to remember breaking them is just as common.

..Yeah, I know people wonder a whole lot about it. Truth is- the show isn't really for little girls spite of what people say. Literally I felt it was girly and poorly put together at first before watching the series. Now, take note that I was actually very strict with giving shows like these a chance cause it seems unusual for teens at an age to be watching a show that tends to stand out as 'girly'. But, I gave it a shot.

I was dead wrong. The show is way different then I thought. It's hilarious where they hide a lot of adult references, the animation is extremely crafty, the ponies all have unique personalities that actually grow likable overtime, and most importantly.. they have a mind-blowing way of writing the storyline. It's incredible and I am very impressed with it. Give it a try, in fact.. here! Watch episode 1 from this very post and tell me what you think:
