Actually recently the 360 has had it's biggest boost in Japan recently and is outselling the PS3.

I don't know where you got the idea that it's just North America where the 360 outsold the PS3.

I'm in Europe and the 360 outsells the PS3 by tonnes, so out of the the major markets in the world all of them sell more 360's than the PS3.
Actually...

VGChartz Hardware data...
It's common knowledge that VGChartz is asspulling their figures, so just about every number they have should be taken with a grain of salt.

NeoGAF, one of the biggest gaming boards around, actively bans people from even mentioning the site's name. Not that I think it it's impossible for the PS3 to be selling more than the 360 in Europe, but VGChatz isn't the place where you get such figures. Or any figures, for that matter.

EDIT: I bet FFXIII will push the ps3 past the 360 even if its multi-platform.
PS3 - 17.16M units.
Xbox 360 - 23.39M units.

Sony will have to push it hard then, selling 6 million units over 1 game which is multi platform? I don't see it happening to soon. If MSG4 didn't do it, FFXIII won't. Stranger things have happened though.
My friends...

Anyway, OP I don't like your tone to be honest and I feel you're a bit of an elitist which I don't like.
But this isn't about what I think about you, it's about the PS3 and you know what? While the PS3 is the best console technically, I feel they were overambitious. The Bluray player did it for them really. I understand it's meant to be the next big advance but what if it isn't and Sony have called it wrong? All it would've done is push up their prices and made them losses. But Bluray could get hugely popular in the next year so we'll have to wait and see. But, one thing the Bluray player did do is put a lengthy delay on the release date so the normal gamer would think "screw waiting, I'm getting a 360".

But there's another thing I can't put my finger on and is much more personal. The PS3 doesn't feel like the sort of console I would want. I'm no fanboy, I played my PS2 more than my xbox and still play it all the time, but I don't feel like I have a place for this console. Soounds stupid but there you are.

Well back on topic if you want to know, the reason they wont drop the price is because there is absolutely no need for them to do so. You might be quite disappointed, but that's the cold hard facts. There are rumours of March next year though....

And I am kind of curious on one aspect - do you play on Xbox live? If yes, how much per month and for how many months. Because anyone who wants to ***** and moan about PS3 costing so much needs to add those costs to their 360 purchase price for a TRUE costing as the PSN network is completely free and has been so since launch - by free, no extra costs on top of what you have to pay for your net costs anyways.
Aha! I pay NOTHING for Xbox Live because I do not feel the need for a year of online for 50 bucks when forever online on the PC is free! I won't get Live unless someone gets it for me.

Also, the free online is one of the reasons I want a PS3.

http://vgchartz.com/hwcomps.php?cons1=Wii®1=Europe&cons2=PS3®2=Europe&cons3=X360®3=Europe&start=39411&end=39775

The PS3 has dominated the European Market for the majority of the year, with about September being the end of its 'reign'.
Now tell me, what 'awesome games' came out for the ps3 between september 20th to Nov. 22nd?
Now compare that to the games for the 360?

I'm sure you'll see a nice correlation.
Of course, none of this has anything at all to do with the fact that alot of people were holding out on buying a PS3 for MGS4, a month earlier, and may have 'temporarilly' exausted the market in europe until another big name title comes out?

As for Japan,
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.78524
Again, PS3 has dominated X360 almost every month this year.
ANd I'm sure those 'months' where 360 'beat' the ps3, had absolutely nothing to do with certain 'RPGs', nope, NOTHING AT ALL. ;)

Also, the PSP isn't doing bad if you consider that Nintendo is the Microsoft of the hand held universe.
http://vgchartz.com/hwcomps.php?cons1=PSP®1=All&cons2=DS®2=All&cons3=X360®3=All&start=39411&end=39775

Hell,
http://vgchartz.com/hwcomps.php?cons1=PSP®1=All&cons2=PS2®2=All&cons3=X360®3=All&start=39411&end=39775
http://vgchartz.com/hwcomps.php?cons1=PSP®1=All&cons2=PS2®2=All&cons3=X360®3=All&start=39411&end=39775&weekly=1
I'm sure if you were to toss in 'all' of sony's console products selling vs the 360 and xbox, Microsoft would 'still' come out the winner right? ;)

As for the ps3, you have to remember, its a 'premium' product.
Its like a 32" Sony HDTV, vs a 32" Polaroid HDTV, which is going to sell more?
Does it matter if Polaroid sells more HDTV's then sony? When sony's selling theres for almost 4x the price?

Also,
360 sold approximately 6M units in there first year (according to vg charts.)
At this time the ps3 wasn't out yet, and the ps2 had sold roughly 13M that same year.
http://vgchartz.com/hwcomps.php?cons1=PS3&reg1=All&cons2=PS2&reg2=All&cons3=X360&reg3=All&start=38683&end=39047&weekly=1

By the 360s second year, they also just barely sold 6M for there 2nd year. (Total of 12 Milliion)
The ps3, which JUST released, sold in there first year about 5M units. Just a million shy of 360s.
So recap,
Ps3 - 5M first year.
360 - 6m First year, 12m combined.
Totally different price brackets.

Now, PS3s second year they sold...
Damn near 10M Ps3s.
The 360 sold about...
Damn near 10M 360s.

So, we have 'this' year. The 360 and the PS3 selling nearly the same number of units (That year), and the 360 has been out for 3, and the ps3 for 2 years.
So, to recap.
The PS3 has sold Roughly 17M units in its 2 year life span, and the 360 has sold roughly 23M units in its life span.

If the PS3 is doing so bad, How are they keeping up with the 360, which has had ONE YEAR LONGER to sell units?!

The PS3 may not be doing very well in the United States, but it nearly always beating the 360 in Japan/Europe does add up.

And some of you guys will start yelling 'fanboi this' 'fanboi that', saying theres no reason we should 'care' about how well a game console company is doing...
If everyone followed that logic, Everyone would be buying the 'cheapest stock' in the market, and not give a rats ass about how 'good' or 'bad' there company is doing.

Lets face it, if you invest $600 in a console, you damn well hope its going to be worth a $600 investment, and continuingly bring you your money's worth.

I suspect very highly that if this arms race between consoles manages to continue running for a few more years we will definitely see the PS3 pull far ahead in the gaming bit and here is why.

DVD - 10 gigs of space
Blue-Ray - 50 gigs of space

It could just be me, but I do believe that is a substantial amount of extra space to be potentially used when you really consider things. I don't necessarily expect the quality to be higher than HD, that would be rediculous because in the end blue-ray is still playing in HD format, I do, however, expect to end up getting more for my money on the PS3. So far, Sony has delivered.
There is still the potential for Sony to revise and perfect the six-axis control schemes and it does seem that they have been practicing (take, for example Mirror's Edge in which it has been used a bit more usefully than in previous PS3 titles) a feature which the 360 does not even attempt. Again, another venue which is wide open for the PS3 to explore.
Finally, there is the simple fact of a higher limit for the PS3. Face it, if my computer has a 2gig video card and 4 gigabytes of ram and yours only has half of each, we may both be able to play game X, however, next year when game X-2 is released there is a stunningly high chance that, while we will both be capable of playing game X-2, I will be running it at full graphical potential without video lag.

Well, they have the most expensive and least selling in North America at least, and since I live here in the states I don't really give a shit about how well it's selling in other countries.

Most expensive + least selling + cheap bastards like me won't cough up enough change to buy one = FAIL in my eyes and I think someone at Sony needs to wise up and do something incredible.
The only reason it is still so expensive is because of the blu-ray player. Microsoft was able to drop their price so much because they dropped their hd player.

An interesting analogy considering it is the GPU and the RAM that are the bottlenecks of the PS3.

Uhh, I thought the 360 always had a DVD player, and the HD-Player was an External USB HD-DVD Drive?

Console technoligy doesn't progress as fast as a PC's either. Once they reach a poin the 360 can't handle, not many will push on into ps3 only territory. Why? Companies make more money when more consoles can play their games, and the 360 is a large market share to ignore.

My dim view of the Sony business strategy is well known, it should also be noted Microsoft has it's own problems...namely it's hardwares tendency to fall over and f**king die.

Right now Nintendo is doing the best, but unfortunatly they're doing so well because Nintendo isn't interested in -us-. Nintendo forsook us for the cash cow of the lower market, and while admittedly they ARE held back by 3rd party developers that just don't understand the Wii and how to utilize it, they could...y'know... lead the way themselves or something. With... you know... new IP that isn't made for kids... and stuff...*mumble*

No, Nintendo are the Nintendo of the handheld markets.
Agreed. They didn't really strong-arm anybody out of the market. Hell to be honest a lot of the handhelds competing with them had better technology at the time (Atari Lynx, Sega Game Gear). However they all made the big fatal flaw of a portable system, which is having no battery life.

And this trend continues. Hell Sony revamps their PSP and doesn't bother to fix the battery life problem. Meanwhile Nintendo gets more battery life out of the DS Lite.

On another note I'm a bit confused as to why it took so long for people to remember what could now be considered "old news", which is FF XIII not being a PS3 exclusive anymore. Then again it's hard to remember any PS3 exclusives (other than Killzone 2: Because Killzone 1 was such a Halo-Killer, and Little Big Planet: Fun will Overcome Everything but Copyright Law)

^No battery life?! what the hell are you talking about, that's another cold faced lie about the PSP that just gets thrown around. I can get like 5 hours of non stop game play with the battery, which is not that bad. Also don't forget the extended life battery, so your looking at an extra 2 or 3 hours.

But MGS series in general has been kinda of a cult classic, not really mainstream and established as FF.

And my coment on FF XIII pushing ps3's is because final fantasy is well final fantasy and their games were almost always big hits on playstation consoles while final fantasys just started getting onto m$ console. Its pushes them because I am sure theres a lot of people undecided on if they will upgrade and a lot of sonys hit and miss advertising will sway quite a few. And the probable FFXIII+Ps3 combo like MGS4 bundle.

Thing is, most people can't spend a lot on stuff anymore, and gaming costs a lot, so the most output for the least input is going to be the most efficient entertainment venture for the middle class american. 360 has more variety, better variety, and Respectable games: Halo, GoW, Mass Effect, Any JRPG, Fable 2, Left 4 Dead. Versus PS3 with what, MGS4 (which I haven't ever heard of after the release) the Persona Series (my personal favorite games), and final fantasy.
Left 4 dead is not an exclusive, its on the PC.(What 360 game isn't besides Cliffys bullshit?) any JRPG? really? How about Phantasy Star Universe? That games on the 360 and it sucks so hard..Mass effect still on the computer, GeoW is meh and was also ported on the computer. Any more actual 360 exslusive you want to throw up?
