No love for any of the Unreal series? For me they've always been near the top. However, my vote is for Doom, just because.
Fear not, for I still play the original Unreal Tournament from time to time. Can't say I like Unreal 2 too much though, but only because it wasn't really Unreal. It wasn't a bad game in it's own right.
Doom, as it still entertains me even with the higher-tech games going on these days. Sometimes simple is fun. I'll extend that to Doom 3 as well (as it also had a pretty awesome atmosphere).
I suppose I'll jump on the CoD4 bandwagon, but I'll hop off before we hit CoD:WaW. Might get back on when we hit MW2 (who knows?).
Oh, and whoever mentioned the Darkness, I'm with you! Still one of my favourite games due to the opening cutscene alone.
Due to uniqueness I'm putting Prey up there, even if it got a little old towards the end.
Finally, I'll put up Descent II. My first FPS, and my current favourite. It's insane, and I'd urge anyone to go check it out (though those with motion-sickness might want to skip it).
