God Of War, I had never seen any gameplay of it ever, bought it with San Andreas, turned out to be one of my fav Ps2 games. Also Resident Evil 4, my parents got it for me since I had Resident Evil Code Veronica X for my ps2 years ago, I thought it had the same gameplay as CVX, I didnt play it till 2 years after they got it, popped it in because I was bored, Turned out to be my fav Ps2 game...
Yeah someone got me RE 4 for my b-day and I was shocked by how good it was. Best ps2 game imo.

A friend of mine had got The Last Remnant and I'd watched him playing it and it looked awesome so I headed over to The Final Level with the intention of buying it but found out I didn't have enough, because I really wanted to play something I picked up Ninety Nine Nights solely because I had enough and the trailer playing in the store looked pretty cool. Really loved the game, but I still want The Last Remnant XD

I can't think of anything recently, so I'd have to say World of Warcraft.
It came down to;

"When you die, do you lose all your gear?"
"No."
"I'll take it."

I do it all the time. First game I remember picking up randomly was Diablo 2. Then i got FFX, Devil May Cry and recently Oblivion, Fallout 3 and inFamous.
Wow, that's quite the lucky run of games.

OT: The original Kingdom Hearts. Probably ended up as one of my favorite games of that generation

Have you ever gone into a games store and bought a game that you knew nothing about, buying it purly because of the box or shop assistant.

At the moment it seam rare that a new game goes out without the world knowing, but what is the best game you have ever bought of which you know nothing about it bar what is writen and drawn on the box...or the worsed game if your experiances with this sort of buying has been bad for you.

My examples I bought Prototype, before getting it i had heard nothing of it, in face i was going to get fallout 3 but i thought humm that looks cool bam i got it, got it home wow this is amazing.
With the runner up being chrome, a budget title i got for £3 i was not unimpressed with it kept me hooked for a good few hours
Oh i've had this on many occasions. Sometimes resulting in good, sometimes bad.

It's nice though when you find a game you've never heard of either just in store as you say or on a forum or whatever and it turns out to be good.

Most recently I was looking for driving games featuring motorways and I found Alarm fúr Cobra 11, its not a bad lil gem tbh.

Another one would proberbly be Transport Tycoon, one of the first examples of this happening actually. Back in about '95 or '96 i went into Electronics Beutique(Now known As GAME) and was looking for Rollercoaster Tycoon, I found what I was looking for at £19.99 but next to it was a triple box set, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Transport Tycoon, Railroad Tycoon all for £19.99, so obviously I got the box set, loved Rollercoaster Tycoon and played it for a while then tried the other 2. Railroad Tycoon i just couldn't get into but Transport Tycoon, well, I still sometimes play it now once in a while.

Fallout 3. I rarely research games to begin with, but I picked this one up blind due to the contrast of the front and back pictures; and thought it looks interesting. It was also £6 from a supermarket (o_O), so I thought 'why not?'.
wow how is it possible to sell a game at that price that came out so recently, especially one that hassnt had a price drop in most places.

Counter stike: scource, to tell you the truth i originaly just wannted it for more stuff in garrys mod, but now i still play it to this day.

The only thing that comes to mind is Timesplitters 2. My friends and I knew nothing about the game but the box art looked interesting, so one day I rented it. Probably one of the best gaming decisions I've ever made.

Other than that though, I usually research the game pretty heavily before buying.

The closest I've come to that is The Witcher. I'd just bought a new PC, and wanted to buy a brand new game to test it (I'd been buying budget games for ages because my previous PC was a bucket of bolts). I'd only read a tiny bit about it, but saw the box, and thought "Yup, that's the game for me." And I never looked back...
Hey, me too! I just got a new video card and couldn't wait to try out a new game, saw the Witcher, and loved the game right from the outset.

When I was a kid I bought Actraiser II on a whim, was a very good game.

The Godfather.. I bought it for 8 swedish crowns, the equivalent to 60 pence or about a dollar.. I got about 20 solid gaming hours for those 8 crowns..
I know where i need to get my games from... one dollar for The Godfather, wow... Wait was that retail or did you buy it from someone? I've never heard of Swedish crowns, they sound cool, as in not like money.

The closest I have ever come to that was Fallout 1 and 2, I have never heard anything about them really besides from older folks reminiscent about them. Turns out is great (I only bought it 3 weeks ago) I haven't actually gotten anywhere on it but I love it anyway.
No it was retail.. And it was a new copy of it.. Some sort of special offer at our local GAME. It was quite recently so the Godfather wasnt exactly a new game but still, I was so shocked by the low price that I just picked it up on the way past.. I mean it costed less than a chocolate bar for gods sake..

Portal. When I bought Orange Box I knew next to nothing about Portal. When I finally discovered it I spent more time with Portal then with anything else in the Orange Box.
