Disgaea 1 & 3, also Final fantasy Tactics.
I applaud you, sir, for your boldness. Each entry in the Disgaea series is a moderately enjoyable way to spend a month.

Planescape: Torment takes my vote, though I used to consider Arcanum an equal due to the unmatched variety of character options (now it's the second best one). Xenogears, KOTOR 2, Final Fantasy Tactics and Baldur's Gate 2 all muddle into the "close to the best" pile.

Character Development: Lunar Silver Star Story Complete or Lunar 2 Eternal Blue Complete (Honorable mention to Final Fantasy X)
Battle System: Legend of Dragoon (Honorable mention to Chrono Cross)
Storyline: Xenogears, Chrono Cross and Final Fantasy X
Plot Twist: Xenogears and Chrono Cross
Most surprising: Final Fantasy X (ending)

I left out the "you choose" type games because they are just that, still epic mind you. I just stuck with the planned out games.

I recently got Breath of Fire II on the Virtual Console, I'm currently enamored with it.

Still, I think my favorite remains FFVI.

Kingdom Hearts 2 (I'm sorry to say that Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories died for me when they introduced the whole card system thing)
Kingdom Hearts 1
Star Ocean: Till the Ends of Time
Final Fantasy X
Dragon Quest VIII (although i never did finish the Dragovian Trials...Any one mind telling me what happens? I lost my copy and can't find another)

Hmmm...tough call. I like so many different RPGs for different reasons. Loved the combat in Grandia 2, love the weirdness of Persona 4, love the scope of Oblivion, love the story of KOTOR.

But then there's Illusion of Gaia, Arx Fatalis, Dark Cloud 2, Neverwinter Nights, Lost Odyssey, Koudelka (and several subsequent Shadow Hearts games)...the list goes on and on.
Wait... Koudelka's the basis for the shadow hearts series?

Mmmm hmmm. Many of the characters and locations you encounter in the Shadow Hearts games are the backbone of Koudelka's story.

Phantasy Star IV: End of the Millennium, it was the only game (perhaps at the time) to use comic styled cut scenes rather than strictly sprites to tell a story/emotion.

Morrowind, I wish I could say KOTOR but I've only played a little of it.
Fallout 3 is climbing the ranks however.

My first RPG was Nox. Then got into fable 1 and Oblivion.

But from all these 3, I can't decided betwen Oblivion and Nox. Both are equally good in my opinion.
