If I'm basing it on raw hours invested, I'll have to go with City of Heroes/Villains.

I've played some pretty awesome shorter RPGs. Knights Of The Old Republic, for example.

I'm gonna tow the Persona line with games 3 and 4 (Also SMT: Imagine online.), and give a "What's up, wastelanders?" for Fallout 3.

Either Fallout 3 or Morrowind. Once you get into either of those games you can spend bloody weeks playing, more so in Morrowind though what with lack of pain in the ass level cap.

Does Pokemon count?
No, no it doesn't (slaps RAWKSTAR in face). As for me, I would go for Oblivion, since I don't yet have Fallout 3...

P.S. RAWKSTAR, I was just kidding about the faceslap thing :D
What genre is Pokemon, if not an RPG?

But yeah, ff6 and 7, Crono Trigger and Morrowind probably.
Oblivion just wasn't for me, and Fallout 3 is great, but lacking of that special something.

Mass Effect is sitting on my desk in it's plastic packaging - got it for £5 from Zavvi, not all bad things to come out of the recession.

Xenogears was my favorite.
Oh so many years ago.
Citan was the coolest hah..

The Xenosaga games were alright as well, but didn't live up to Gears in my eyes.

Same goes to Chrono Trigger & Chrono Cross. Both those games were great.

... ChronoTrigger, people! Come on!

Other than that, the others are tied for second place starting with Lufia 2, Grandia 2, and Skies of Arcadia. I'm sure a Breath of Fire game fits in there as well.

Mass Effect, Fallout 3 and Titan Quest were all favorites of mine.

I do want to try out some of these older ones though; I've heard nothing but good things about Planescape: Torment.

Baldurs Gate II

Planescape: Torment could have been a really close call, but unfortunatly for that game, its story wasnt as strongly supported by its gameplay, and it also had some terrible bugs. People tend to overlook those things, but I dont, and only ever place it above BG II when it comes to game storylines only.

Bugger.

Anyways, Baldur's Gate sounds cool too.

In no order:

TES III: Morrowind takes the cake, no questions asked.

TES IV: Oblivion (not as good as Morrowind)

Knights of the Old Republic (first one; second one was awesome but not as awesome, I thought)

RuneScape, before Jagex went the route of trying to take total control over the game. Go ahead, sue me for having loved it.
